Adaptive Volume Control (AVC)

AVC adjusts volume to compensate for changes in road noise as speed increases or decreases. The setting is a step increase, not a fixed volume level. A zero setting means no increase. Higher settings provide a more noticeable increase in volume with speed.

To adjust AVC:

  1. Press MENU (12), navigate to AUDIO Settings, and select Adaptive Vol.
  2. Use the navigation buttons (10) to adjust AVC settings.
  3. Press OK to confirm.

Tone Settings

Access the 'Tone' menu via the Sound button (14) to adjust bass, treble, and balance (front/rear, left/right). Press OK to save settings.

Note: If no adjustment is made for 10 seconds, the previous screen reappears.

Automatic Radio Station Saving (AutoStore)

AutoStore saves the strongest radio stations in AM or FM bands. To use AutoStore:

  1. Press Radio (4) to select a band.
  2. Find a station. Use seek buttons (9, 11) if needed.
  3. Press and hold the Radio button until confirmation appears. The system will search for the strongest stations and store up to 10.

Note: AutoStore can also be used for manual station saving.

Radio Station Presets

To save favorite radio stations:

  1. Press Radio (4) and select a band.
  2. Tune to the desired station.
  3. Press and hold a keypad button (0-9) to save the station. A brief sound confirms saving.

Saved stations can be recalled using the menu navigation buttons (10).

Note: When moving to a new region, FM stations with alternative frequencies (AF) may need to be updated by changing the frequency to the one for the new region.

Radio Data System (RDS)

The audio system features RDS, which provides additional information with radio signals. In FM, RDS enables traffic announcements and news. It can also automatically retune to stations within the same network if the signal weakens.

Note: Not all FM stations broadcast RDS information. RDS features are unavailable if an RDS-less station is selected.

Local Radio Stations (REG)

When entering a new reception area, the RDS system automatically retunes to a stronger signal. If REG is active, the receiver stays tuned to the local station. If REG is off, it may switch to a stronger network station with EON capabilities if the current signal weakens.

To enable/disable REG:

  1. Press MENU (12).
  2. Select Audio Settings.
  3. Select Regional mode.
  4. Press OK to toggle REG on/off.

Alternative Frequencies (AF)

Some radio stations broadcast on different frequencies in different regions. If a station's signal weakens, the system automatically retunes to an available alternative frequency (AF) with a stronger signal. This is useful for long journeys.

To enable/disable AF:

  1. Press MENU (12).
  2. Select Audio Settings.
  3. Select ALTERNAT. FREQ. and toggle the AF function.
  4. Press OK.

Traffic Information Selection

Normal broadcasts may be interrupted by traffic information from FM stations via RDS and EON. An indicator 'TP' appears on the display when a station supports traffic information.

Briefly press the TA button (15) to select traffic messages. The 'TA' indicator will appear on the display.

When traffic information is received, the current source (CD, USB, iPod, radio) is interrupted, and 'Traffic' information is displayed. If a selected station does not support traffic information, the system will remain on that station unless TA is toggled off and on again.

Traffic Announcement Volume

Traffic announcements are played at a preset minimum volume, usually higher than the listening volume. Adjust this volume using the volume control during a TA announcement. The display will show the selected volume level. Subsequent announcements will play at this level.

Canceling a Message

To cancel a message, briefly press the TA or MODE (17) button during the announcement. This will turn off the TA function. Pressing TA at any other time will turn off all messages.

Disabling Traffic Information Reception

Press and release the TA button. The 'TA' symbol will disappear. This cancels traffic message reception until TA is reactivated.

News Selection

Similar to traffic information, news broadcasts may interrupt normal programming. To set up the 'NEWS' function:

  1. Press MENU (12).
  2. Select Audio Settings.
  3. Select News.
  4. Press OK to enable/disable the 'News' function. Refer to page 165 for canceling a message.

Note: Both traffic information and news can be selected simultaneously, with traffic information taking priority.

Digital Radio (DAB)

If your vehicle is equipped with digital radio, press the RADIO button (4) to select DAB1 or DAB2. These groups allow saving 20 stations (10 per group) to keypad buttons (8). DAB offers a wider range of stations. DAB signals are broadcast in most major cities and along main roads. Unlike AM/FM, DAB transmits multiple stations/channels on a single frequency. Services are grouped, and some areas may have multiple groups with six to twelve services each.

DAB broadcasts are regional and local. Some services are national or regional and retransmitted across a region or country. Others are local and available only within a limited transmission area.

Digital Service Search

Press the search buttons (9, 11) or steering wheel buttons (20, 21) to scan for active local groups. Manual tuning is also available (see page 167).

National channels use the same groups nationwide. Saved national channels are usually found instantly by pressing the same preset buttons.

If the signal is lost while driving, it may be due to leaving a group's broadcast area. Use the search buttons or manual tuning to find the strongest signal.

Note: Connecting additional electrical equipment may affect DAB reception.

Selecting and Saving Digital Services

Select DAB1 or DAB2. The broadcast starts with the last station played. To select another station, press the corresponding preset button (0-9).

Any preset button can be used to save a digital service from a group. Switching to presets from other groups may take a moment ('Searching...' will appear). Switching between services within the same group is nearly instantaneous.

If no service is saved or a service is unavailable, 'No Reception' will be displayed. If a service is available but the signal is too weak for playback, tuning may stop on that group, showing its name and possibly the service name, but without sound. If no sound is heard within 5-10 seconds, press the search button again to move to the next group. You can also switch to services in new groups by quickly pressing the search buttons.

Manual Tuning (DAB)

Press and hold the search buttons (9, 11) or steering wheel buttons (20, 21) for about 3 seconds to access Manual Tuning. The 'Manual Tuning' window will appear. Use the search buttons or steering wheel buttons to move through services and groups. If a group is empty or reception is unavailable, tuning will proceed to the next group. If a group's signal is strong enough for tuning but too weak for playback, tuning may stop on that group, showing its name and service name without sound. If no sound is heard within 5-10 seconds, press the search button again to move to the next working group.

To select and play a service, find it, check for sound, and press OK. Manual Tuning remains active for 30 seconds of inactivity before turning off. If Manual Tuning times out and a new service has not been tuned, the previously playing service will resume.

Saving a Service as a Preset

While a service is playing, press and hold the desired preset button. A histogram will appear, showing how long to hold the button, followed by 'Preset Stored'. Release the button.

DAB Service List

To view all available preset services within the current group, use the left menu navigation button (10) to go to the frequency list, select DAB1 or DAB2, then use the right menu navigation button to display the preset list. If a desired station is not listed, select 'Service List' to view all services in the current group. Use the up/down navigation buttons to scroll. Highlight a service and press OK to select it.

ServiceLink

ServiceLink is a menu item (12) that can be enabled or disabled via the OK button. When enabled, it offers two functions:

It is recommended to disable ServiceLink when searching for groups or using manual tuning.

DAB Messages

When tuning to a group, 'Searching...' will appear on the display. This message also appears for a few seconds when switching presets or searching for the next group.

If ServiceLink is enabled and an alternative signal is not found, 'Searching...' may remain displayed for a longer period as the radio automatically searches all bands until you switch services or disable ServiceLink.

No Reception: Displayed if ServiceLink is off and a selected service is unavailable at your current location. Select another service or search for an alternative group.

Serv00, Serv01, etc.: May be displayed if the radio receives signals from a group but cannot identify service names. These are default names for unidentified services. In such cases, audio playback is usually not possible. Select another service or search for an alternative group.

CD Player

Do not use discs with paper labels, double-sided discs, or DVDPlus format discs. While the front-loading CD player may load and play these discs, removal may be impossible, and the mechanism could be blocked. Damage from such discs is not covered by warranty.

Do not force discs into the slot.

Note: Protected discs may not play or may have playback limitations (e.g., low sound quality). Test problematic discs on another player before contacting the supplier.

Loading a CD

Carefully insert a CD into the slot; it will be drawn into the player and loaded. Press the CD button to select CD playback mode. If a CD is already loaded, playback will resume from where it left off.

Selecting Tracks

During CD playback, the display shows the current track, total tracks, and elapsed time. Use the seek buttons (forward/backward) on the system or steering wheel to go to the next or previous track. Press and hold the seek button to fast-scan.

To select a track from the CD track list:

  1. Press the right menu navigation button (10) to view the track list.
  2. Use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll to the desired track.
  3. Press OK to play the selected track.

Repeat and Shuffle Playback

Repeat: Plays the current track continuously. Shuffle: Plays tracks in random order.

To enable/disable Repeat or Shuffle:

  1. Press MENU (12).
  2. Select Audio Settings.
  3. Select Repeat or Shuffle.
  4. Press OK.

Portable Devices

Portable devices connect to the interface located in the glove box and the rear of the center console. Supported devices include:

When connecting a portable storage device, use the AUX button (5). Many controls are similar to CD playback.

Important: Disconnect your iPod when leaving the vehicle to prevent battery drain.

Note: The audio system plays MP3, WMA, and AAC files. For optimal quality, use lossless compression for multimedia files on USB and iPod. For compressed files, a bitrate of at least 192 kbps is recommended (higher is better). For USB/MP3 players, the maximum supported bitrate is 320 kbps. Bitrates below 128 kbps may prevent DSP functionality.

Note: Some MP3 players have proprietary file systems. To use them, switch them to USB Mass Storage or Large Capacity Storage mode to play music files transferred in these modes.

Connecting Devices

The USB port (1) and 3.5mm AUX input (2) are available for connecting devices. Use the cable supplied with the device for USB connection.

When connecting an iPod, playback resumes from the last track played, provided the battery is not depleted. If a USB or Bluetooth® device is already connected, selecting AUX resumes playback from the last position.

For a list of compatible devices, refer to the 'Ownership' section on the Land Rover website (www.landrover.com). Bluetooth® devices listed on the website have been tested for compatibility. Functionality depends on the device's software version and battery status. The device manufacturer, not Land Rover, provides warranty for the device.

Note: Only audio devices are permitted for connection to the USB port.

Telephone System

Safety Warning: Switch off your phone in areas with a risk of explosion, such as gas stations, fuel storage areas, chemical plants, or areas where fuel vapors, chemicals, or metallic dust are present.

Always ensure your mobile phone is securely fastened. Mobile phones can interfere with pacemakers and hearing aids. Consult your doctor or the manufacturer to determine if such devices are adequately protected against radio frequency energy.

Pairing and Connecting a Mobile Phone

Bluetooth® is a wireless technology for short-range communication between electronic devices.

The Land Rover Bluetooth® system supports Hands-Free Profile (HFP), Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP). HFP and A2DP/AVRCP can be connected independently, allowing phone connection via one profile and a portable device via another.

Before using the Bluetooth® phone system, you must pair and connect your Bluetooth®-enabled phone.

Note: The pairing and connection procedure may vary by phone model. Check phone compatibility on page 214.

  1. Turn on the ignition and ensure the audio system is active and no other phone is connected to the vehicle's Bluetooth®.
  2. On your mobile phone, search for Bluetooth® devices. This may be called 'search for new paired devices'. Refer to your phone's manual for details.
  3. When the vehicle's Bluetooth® system (named 'Land Rover') is detected, select it from the list.
  4. If prompted, enter the Bluetooth® PIN (a random four-digit number generated by the system) on your mobile phone.
  5. After pairing and connecting, the phone will connect automatically in the future. If automatic detection fails, manually connect to the Land Rover Bluetooth® system using your mobile phone. Refer to your mobile phone's manual for details.

Note: Some mobile phones require manual connection. On some phones, you may need to authorize the connection each time the system starts. To change this, authorize Land Rover in your phone's list of known devices.

Using the Phone

Each time the ignition is turned on, the system will attempt to connect to the last connected phone.

Due to variations in mobile phone audio and echo characteristics, the system may take a few seconds to adapt for optimal sound quality. This may involve slightly reducing cabin volume and fan speed. The same applies to hands-free headset operation.

Phone Controls:

  1. Press the PHONE button (1) or steering wheel button to turn the phone menu on/off.
  2. Press to accept a call or dial a number.
  3. Press to end a call or cancel an incoming call.

Answering, Rejecting, or Ending a Call:

Dialing a Phone Number:

Call Volume:

The phone volume is adjusted using the audio system's volume control. When the audio system is active and a call is received, the audio system volume is muted during the phone conversation. Parking assistance warnings are not muted.

Clock and Date Settings

To set/change the time and date:

  1. Press MENU (12).
  2. Select Clock Settings on the screen.
  3. Select the clock function and make adjustments.
  4. Press OK to confirm the time change.

MP3 File Playback

MP3 discs contain more music than standard CDs because each composition is heavily compressed during recording.

If a CD has multiple folders, playback begins with the top-level folder, then proceeds to nested folders.

Note: Loading an MP3 disc with a large number of compositions may take considerable time.

To select a track from an MP3 disc:

  1. Press the right menu navigation button (10) to view the current MP3 folder. Press the left button to view the folder list if needed.
  2. Use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll to the desired track or folder.
  3. Press OK to play the selected track or open the selected folder.
