Audio System Features

Long-term exposure to loud sounds can negatively affect hearing.

Adaptive Volume Control (AVC): This function adjusts volume to compensate for changes in road noise as the vehicle speeds up or slows down. The AVC setting is an increment of volume, not a volume level. A zero AVC setting means no volume increase. Lower settings provide minimal increase, while higher settings provide a noticeable increase with speed.

Tone Adjustment: Access the 'Tone' menu via the sound button (14) to adjust bass, treble, and balance (front/rear, left/right).

AutoStore: This feature automatically saves radio stations with the strongest signal in the AM or FM band. To use AutoStore, select the desired band (4), find a station, and then press and hold the Radio button (4) until confirmation appears. The system will scan for the strongest signals and save up to 10 stations.

Radio Station Presets: Save favorite radio stations by pressing and holding a keypad button (3) while the desired station is tuned. The display will confirm the save. You can recall preset stations using the menu navigation buttons (10).

RDS (Radio Data System): The audio system supports RDS, providing additional information with radio signals, such as traffic announcements and news. RDS can also automatically retune to stations within the same network.

Regional Mode (REG): When enabled, REG keeps the receiver tuned to the current local station even if a stronger signal from another station in the same network is available. If REG is off, the system may switch to a stronger signal or a network with enhanced services (EON) if the current station signal weakens.

Alternative Frequencies (AF): For stations broadcasting on multiple frequencies in different regions, AF automatically retunes to a stronger signal if the current one weakens. This is useful for long journeys. To enable/disable AF, navigate to Audio Settings > ALTERNAT. FREQ.

Traffic Information (TA): TA enables the system to receive traffic announcements. When a traffic announcement is received, the current audio source (CD, USB, iPod, radio) is interrupted, and 'Traffic' information is displayed. The volume for TA announcements is set higher than normal listening volume and can be adjusted during an announcement.

News: Similar to traffic information, news broadcasts can interrupt normal playback. To enable/disable 'News', navigate to Audio Settings > News.

DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting): DAB radio offers a wider selection of stations. DAB signals are broadcast on many major roads and in urban areas. DAB allows multiple stations/channels on a single frequency. The system supports DAB1 and DAB2 groups, each capable of storing 20 presets.

Searching for Digital Services: Use the seek buttons (9, 11) or steering wheel buttons (20, 21) to scan for active groups. If a signal is lost, you may need to scan for services with a stronger signal or use manual tuning.

Selecting and Saving Digital Services: Choose DAB1 or DAB2. To save a service, press and hold a preset button. To select a preset service, press the corresponding preset button. If a service is not found, 'No Reception' will be displayed.

Manual Tuning (DAB): Press and hold seek buttons (9, 11) or steering wheel buttons (20, 21) for approximately 3 seconds to enter Manual Tuning mode. Use the seek buttons to move between services and groups. Press OK to select and play a service.

ServiceLink: This menu option (12) can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, it facilitates automatic retuning to partner services in different regions or to FM services for digital stations when the digital signal weakens. It is recommended to disable ServiceLink when searching for groups or using manual tuning.

DAB Messages: 'Searching...' is displayed during group scans or preset recall. 'No Reception' indicates that a selected service cannot be received. 'Serv00', 'Serv01', etc., may appear if the system receives signals but cannot identify service names.

CD Player

Disc Compatibility: Do not use discs with paper labels, double-sided discs, or DVDPlus format discs. Using such discs may prevent extraction and could damage the player. The player is not covered by warranty for such damage. Do not force discs into the slot. Protected discs may have playback issues or reduced sound quality.

Loading a Disc: Carefully insert a CD into the slot; it will be drawn in. Press the CD button to select CD playback mode. If a disc is already loaded, playback will resume.

Selecting Tracks: Use the seek buttons or steering wheel buttons to navigate to the next or previous track. Press and hold for scanning. To select a track from a list, press the right menu navigation button (10), use the arrow buttons to scroll, and press OK to play.

Repeat and Shuffle: Access 'Repeat' or 'Shuffle' in the Audio Settings menu to continuously play a track or play tracks in random order.

Portable Devices

Connectivity: Portable devices connect via the USB port or the 3.5mm AUX input, typically located in the glove compartment or center console. Supported devices include USB flash drives (FAT/FAT32 format), iPods (Classic, Touch, Nano; Shuffle functionality not guaranteed), MP3 players, and Bluetooth® enabled devices (A2DP and AVRCP protocols).

USB Connection: Use the provided USB cable. For iPods, playback resumes from where it left off if the battery is charged. For USB/Bluetooth® devices, AUX playback resumes from the last position.

Compatibility: Refer to www.landrover.com for a list of compatible devices. Land Rover is not responsible for the performance of third-party devices. The USB port is for audio devices only.

Audio Formats: The system supports MP3, WMA, and AAC files. For optimal quality, use lossless compression or a bitrate of at least 192 kbps for USB/iPod files. For MP3 players, a maximum bitrate of 320 kbps is supported; bitrates below 128 kbps may affect DSP functionality. Some MP3 players may require switching to USB Mass Storage mode.

Telephone System

Safety Precautions: Turn off your phone in areas with explosion hazards, such as gas stations or fuel storage facilities. Ensure your mobile phone is securely mounted. Mobile phones can interfere with pacemakers and hearing aids; consult a doctor or manufacturer regarding the protection of such devices.

Bluetooth® Pairing: Bluetooth® is a wireless technology for device communication. The Land Rover Bluetooth® system supports HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP profiles. To pair your phone, turn on ignition, ensure the audio system is active, and no other phone is connected. Search for Bluetooth® devices on your phone (often called 'search for paired devices'). Select 'Land Rover' from the list and enter the 4-digit Bluetooth® PIN displayed on the car's screen.

Automatic Connection: After pairing, the phone should connect automatically. If not, manually connect via your phone's Bluetooth® settings. Some phones may require authorization each time the system starts.

Using the Phone: The system attempts to connect to the last paired phone. Audio quality may vary due to phone characteristics; slight adjustments to volume or fan speed may be needed. Press the PHONE button (1) or steering wheel button (2) to answer calls, or button (3) to end calls. To dial a number, press PHONE (1), enter the number using the keypad, and press OK or steering wheel button (2). Call volume is adjusted via the audio system's volume control. Audio system sound is muted during phone calls.

Clock Settings: Access 'Clock Settings' via the MENU (12) to set the time and date.

MP3 Playback: MP3 discs contain compressed audio files. For discs with folders, playback starts from the top level and proceeds to subfolders. MP3 disc loading may take time. Select tracks from a list by navigating through folders using the menu buttons.
