Standard Audio System
This document provides detailed information on the standard audio system of the Land Rover Evoque, covering its various functions and operations.
Radio Controls and Operation
The audio system features several controls for radio operation:
- Power/Volume (1): Press to turn the system on or off. Rotate to adjust volume. The radio automatically shuts off after 10 minutes of ignition off. Volume may be limited when the engine is off.
- MENU Button (2): Accesses audio system settings, clock settings, and language options.
- OK and Navigation Control (3): Use the navigation control to move the cursor or highlight options. Press OK to select.
- Information Display (4): Shows audio system information.
- Keypad (5): Used for radio station presets and other functions.
- INFO Button (6): Provides traffic information and news.
- RADIO Button (7): Selects the frequency band (FM, AM, DAB). For DAB, it selects DAB1 or DAB2.
- Seek Forward/Backward Buttons (8, 9, 10): Used for scanning through radio stations or tracks. A quick press selects the next/previous station/track, while a long press initiates manual frequency search or fast-forward/rewind.
Radio Features
AutoStore: Saves the strongest radio signals in the AM or FM band. The system automatically turns off sound during the search and restores it afterward, tuning to the strongest stations saved.
Preset Stations: Allows users to save favorite radio stations. To save, tune to a station and press and hold a keypad button. A brief sound interruption confirms the save.
RDS (Radio Data System): Receives additional information with radio signals, such as traffic announcements and news. RDS can also automatically retune to stations within the same network.
REG (Regionalisation): When enabled, the radio stays tuned to the local station. If disabled, the system may switch to a stronger station in the same network if the current signal weakens.
AF (Alternative Frequencies): Automatically retunes to a stronger signal of the same station if the current signal weakens. This is useful for long journeys.
Traffic Information (TA) and News
Traffic Information (TA): The system can interrupt regular programming to broadcast traffic announcements. Pressing INFO (6) briefly activates TA, displaying a 'TP' indicator. When a traffic announcement is received, playback pauses, and 'Traffic' is displayed. Pressing INFO again or MODE cancels TA.
News (NEWS): Similar to TA, the system can broadcast news summaries. Access this via MENU > Audio settings > News. Both TA and NEWS can be enabled simultaneously, with TA taking priority.
Clock and Language Settings
Access these settings via the MENU button (2) to adjust the clock and select the display language.
Digital Radio (DAB)
DAB radio offers a wider selection of stations. The system supports DAB1 and DAB2, each capable of storing 20 presets. DAB signals are broadcast in many urban and rural areas. Unlike AM/FM, DAB can carry multiple stations/channels on a single frequency. The system may display 'Searching...' during tuning or when switching between stations. 'No Reception' indicates a signal cannot be received at the current location. 'Serv00', 'Serv01', etc., may appear if the system receives signals but cannot identify the service names.
Manual Tuning (DAB)
Press and hold the seek buttons (8 or 9) for about 3 seconds to enter Manual Tuning mode. Use the seek buttons to cycle through services and groups. If a group is empty or has weak signals, tuning may stop on that group. Pressing the seek button again can move to the next group. Select a service by pressing OK when it is playing.
ServiceLink
ServiceLink is a menu option that can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, it can automatically switch to partner stations in other regions or to an FM service if the DAB signal weakens. It is recommended to disable ServiceLink during manual tuning or group searching.
Portable Device Connectivity
The audio system supports various portable devices:
- USB Devices: Requires FAT or FAT32 file system.
- iPod®: Supports iPod Classic, iTouch, iPhone, and iPod Nano. Full functionality for older iPod Shuffle models is not guaranteed.
- AUX Input: A 3.5mm jack for connecting other audio devices like MP3 players.
- Bluetooth®: Enables wireless data exchange between devices. The Land Rover Bluetooth system supports HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP profiles. Pairing a phone is required before use. The system attempts to connect to the last paired device upon ignition. For optimal sound quality, slight adjustments to volume and fan speed may be needed.
Phone Controls
Specific buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard are used for phone functions: answering calls, dialing, ending calls, and activating the phone mode.
Phone Pairing and Connection
To pair a phone: turn on ignition, ensure no other Bluetooth device is connected, search for Bluetooth devices on the phone, select 'Range Rover Evoque', and enter the provided PIN. Some phones may require setting a 'trusted' or 'authorized' mode for automatic connection.
Receiving/Ending Calls
Use the PHONE button or steering wheel controls to answer, end, or cancel calls.
Dialing Numbers
Use the PHONE button or steering wheel controls to dial numbers via the keypad.
Fuel and Refueling
This section covers fuel types, safety precautions during refueling, and fuel consumption information.
Safety Precautions
- Do not smoke or use open flames near fuel.
- Ensure no potential ignition sources are near fuel vapors.
- Turn off the engine while refueling.
- Switch off personal electronic devices during refueling.
Fuel Types
- Unleaded Gasoline: Use high-quality unleaded gasoline meeting EN228 standards. Premium unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 95 is recommended. Using gasoline with an octane rating below 91 may reduce engine power and increase fuel consumption. Do not use leaded gasoline or gasoline with manganese-based additives.
- Ethanol: The vehicle can use fuel with up to 10% ethanol (E5 and E10). Do not use fuel with more than 10% ethanol (E85), as it can cause severe engine damage.
- Methanol: Avoid using fuel containing methanol, as it can cause severe engine and fuel system damage not covered by warranty.
- MTBE: Unleaded gasoline with up to 15% MTBE is permitted.
- Diesel Fuel: Use high-quality diesel fuel meeting EN590 standards. Biodiesel blends up to 7% are acceptable; higher blends are not recommended.
Refueling Procedure
- Do not allow the fuel tank to run completely empty.
- When refueling, ensure all windows, doors, and the sunroof are closed, especially if children or animals are in the vehicle.
- Do not overfill the fuel tank.
- Ensure the fuel filler flap is closed properly after refueling.
Fuel Tank Capacity
Avoid running the fuel tank completely empty. The indicated fuel level may not reflect the actual remaining fuel due to a small reserve.
Fuel Protection Device
A fuel protection device is installed in the filler neck of diesel vehicles to prevent incorrect fuel types from being used. If the wrong nozzle is inserted, the device will activate, preventing refueling. A special tool is provided in the luggage compartment to reset this device.
Fuel Consumption
Fuel consumption figures are based on standardized testing methods (EU Directive 99/100/EC). Actual consumption may vary due to driving style, road conditions, and vehicle load.
The document provides tables detailing fuel consumption for various engine variants (diesel and gasoline) under different driving cycles (city, highway, combined) and their corresponding CO2 emissions.
