Portable Devices
This guide details the operation and connection of portable devices with the Land Rover audio and infotainment system. It covers various connection methods, playback controls, and device management.
Controls for Portable Devices
The audio system controls are designed for ease of use. However, it is crucial to avoid distractions while driving. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds (over 85 decibels) can negatively affect hearing.
Refer to page 212 for detailed information on the audio/video system controls.
To access 'My Music', press the AUDIO/VIDEO button or the Audio/Video soft key in the Home menu, then select 'My Music'.
My Music supports CD, iPod, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth® devices. The infotainment system may also feature 'Stored CD' functionality.
- Source: Press the Source icon to view and select available input options. Note that the volume and sound quality for devices connected via the auxiliary input may vary significantly.
- Information Display: Shows details of the current track, including playback time. Some information may also be displayed on the instrument cluster.
Important Notes:
- Information is displayed only for connected devices that support ID3 tags.
- Settings: Control road announcements and news bulletins. For MP3 devices, you can select the number of tracks to skip using the arrow buttons.
- Track list: View the track list for the current CD or stored disc. Press a track title to start playback.
- Browse: For iPod, USB, and stored CDs. Browse the contents of the connected device, organized by file structure. Select a file to play. The browse window will remain open. Select a folder to view its contents. Press the 'Back' soft key to return to the control menu.
Device Connection and Playback
Portable devices connect to a unit located in the glove compartment. Rear passengers can use the connectors in the rear of the center console.
Supported devices include:
- USB drives (FAT or FAT32 format).
- iPod devices (including iPod Classic, iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPod Nano). Full functionality for earlier models is not guaranteed. iPod Shuffle functionality is not guaranteed.
- Devices connected via the auxiliary input (e.g., personal audio players, MP3 players, and all iPod models). Note that touch screen control is not available for devices connected via the auxiliary input.
When connecting iPod, USB, or Bluetooth® devices, control and search can be performed via the touch screen. Many controls are similar to CD playback.
Important: Unplug your iPod when leaving the vehicle to prevent battery drain.
The audio system supports MP3, WMA, and AAC file formats. For optimal quality, lossless compression is recommended for USB and iPod files. A bitrate of at least 192 kbps is recommended for compressed files.
Note: iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer Inc.
Important Safety Information:
- Land Rover does not recommend using external USB hard drives while driving, as they are not designed for in-car use and may be damaged.
- Only audio devices can be connected to USB ports.
- Use the cable supplied with your device for USB connections.
- USB hubs cannot be used to connect multiple USB devices.
- Connecting devices to USB ports also charges them. If a device is fully discharged, playback will not be available.
