About the SJÄLLAND Outdoor Bench
This document provides assembly instructions for the IKEA SJÄLLAND outdoor bench. Please follow these steps carefully to ensure proper and safe assembly of your furniture.
General Assembly Tips
Before you begin:
- Ensure you have the necessary tools, such as a screwdriver and the provided Allen keys.
- Assemble the furniture on a soft surface, like a rug, to prevent scratching the components or your floor.
- If you encounter any difficulties or are unsure about a step, consult the IKEA customer support.
The diagrams illustrate common assembly scenarios:
- A person is shown holding a screwdriver, indicating a required tool.
- One diagram shows an incorrect assembly method with a prohibition symbol (❌), while another shows the correct way to join parts on a protective surface.

Assembly Steps
Step 1: Attach First Side Frame
Place the main bench structure on a flat surface. Insert two wooden dowels (191221) into the pre-drilled holes on one of the side frame attachment points. Align the first side support piece with these dowels and the corresponding holes. Secure the side support to the main frame using two long threaded bolts (191235) and the Allen key (111631). Ensure the bolts are tightened securely.
Step 2: Insert Additional Dowels
Turn the partially assembled bench over or position it for access to the underside. Insert two more wooden dowels (191221) into the designated holes on the underside of the main bench structure, where the lower support bar will attach.
Step 3: Attach Second Side Frame
Repeat the process from Step 1 for the other side of the bench. Insert two wooden dowels (191221) into the corresponding holes on the second side frame attachment point. Align the second side support piece and secure it using two long threaded bolts (191235) and the Allen key (111631).
Step 4: Attach Lower Support Bar
Position the lower horizontal support bar between the two attached side frames. Align the ends of the support bar with the pre-drilled holes on the inside of the side frames. Secure the support bar by inserting two short screws (191222) through the side frames and into the ends of the support bar. Tighten these screws using the Allen key (100092).
After completing all steps, ensure all connections are tight and the bench is stable.
