7. PIR Detection
PIR "Alarm Setting" is on by default with "high" sensitivity, which is adjustable via "Device" -> "Settings" -> "Detection Alarm". The detection distance is 10 meters (32ft).
Sensitivity | Detecting Distance (For moving and living things) |
Low | Up to 4 meters (13ft) |
Medium | Up to 6 meters (20ft) |
High | Up to 8 meters (26ft) |
*Note: Higher sensitivity offers longer detection distance but may lead to more false alarms. It is advised to set sensitivity to "Low" or "Medium" for outdoor installations.
8. Alarm Push Notification and Playback
The battery camera with PIR sensor is not designed for 24/7 recording. It pushes alarm notifications to the app and records video to a micro SD card or Alicloud (paid service) when human motion is detected. You can play back motion videos via the CloudEdge APP.
When PIR is triggered, the camera and system perform the following actions:
- Alarm sound in the app (ensure CloudEdge app notifications are enabled in mobile settings and silent mode is off).
- Alarm Messages Notification (activate notifications via CloudEdge app in mobile settings).
- Alarm snapshot and video recordings on Micro SD card/cloud storage (ensure TF card is inserted). CloudEdge app notification in mobile.
You can access "Alarm Record" [video-icon] to play alarm video recording clips, and "Alarm Snapshot" [snapshot-icon] to preview alarm snapshots.
9. Best Conditions for Night Vision
When night vision mode is active, obstructions within three meters of the lens can cause infrared rays to concentrate, making the obstructed part extremely bright and other areas darker, resulting in poor night vision. Ensure no obstacles are within 3 meters of the lens.
An image illustrates normal night vision without obstructions. Another image shows how obstructions can negatively affect night vision quality.
10. Battery Management
10.1 Battery Life
The camera has a built-in 10400 mAh 18650 battery, providing an estimated 60-90 days of use (assuming 15 wake-ups per day and 5 minutes of video viewing). Battery life depends on usage frequency; more frequent wake-ups consume battery faster.
10.2 Low Battery Notification
When the battery level drops below 20%, the app will send a notification to remind you to charge.
10.3 Charging
Charge the camera using a DC 5V 2A adapter.
10.4 Fast Battery Drain
If the battery drains too quickly, it may be due to frequent camera wake-ups. Consider lowering the "Body Detection" sensitivity or turning it off occasionally.
11. Important Notes for Reducing False Alarms
11.1 General Tips
- Do not install the camera facing direct light sources (sunshine, bright lamps).
- Avoid placing the camera where vehicles and people frequently pass. The camera can detect people and vehicles within 15 meters (55 feet).
- Keep the camera away from air conditioning vents, humidifiers, or projector heat transfer openings.
- Do not point the camera towards a mirror.
- Maintain at least 1 meter distance from wireless devices to prevent interference.
11.2 Surveillance Area Cover
It is not recommended to position the PIR sensor vertically facing the moving object, as this may prevent detection. It is recommended to tilt the camera more than 10 degrees to capture all motion. The diagram shows the path of a moving object and the recommended tilt angle for the PIR sensor.
12. Video Playback and SD Card
Video recordings are stored on an SD card (not included) or cloud storage. The camera supports 2-128 GB SD cards. For optimal performance and SD card longevity, use a Class 10 Speed Micro SD Card (e.g., Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston). Check the SD card for damage before use and format it to FAT32 or exFAT32 before inserting. The CloudEdge app will display the memory volume if the SD card is readable. If not, contact support.
13. Share Camera with Your Family
Each camera can only be added to one account. To share with family, they must register a new CloudEdge account with a new email address. After registration, enter their email address in the friend search bar and click "add" [plus-icon]. They must accept the request. Accounts from different regions (e.g., Europe and America) may not be compatible for sharing.
14. Check Battery Status
Check the remaining camera battery power in the CloudEdge app via "Settings" [settings-icon] -> "Basic Function" -> "Power management". Note: There is no charging indicator on the camera itself; battery status is shown in the app.
15. Talk to Camera and Hear Camera
Press and hold the Intercom button [intercom-icon] to talk. Turn on the audio button to listen. Step 1: Activate the audio option. Step 2: Press and hold the Intercom button to speak.
Troubleshooting
No. | Description | Solution and operation |
1 | Connection can not be established | 1) Check your Wi-Fi name and password. 2) Make sure your WiFi is 2.4G, it does not support 5G. 3) Make sure your camera and mobile phone are near the router. 4) Email hiseeu customer service staff to solve your problem within 24 hours. |
2 | Reset to default | 1) Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. 2) Hear a "bu gu" sound. 3) The red light starts to flash slowly. |
3 | How to connect the camera to new WIFI network | 1) Press the reset button to the factory setting. 2) Remove the camera in the CloudEdge APP. 3) Re-connection. |
4 | Alarm picture without persons | 1) The camera needs time to wake up and people are moving too fast. 2) Some objects with dissipative heat may be detected by PIR, and it is recommended to lower the sensitivity of the PIR alarm. |
5 | Frequent alarm | 1) Because of the environment or the number of vehicles where you install the camera, frequent alarms may occur. It is recommended to change the installation angle. 2) Adjust the camera alarm sensitivity to "low". |
6 | Why is someone crossing without alarm? | The PIR inspection area has a range limitation. It may be that the person passing the position is too far or too close, or the person passes quickly from a corner of the camera and is not successfully detected by the PIR. |
7 | No alarm push | Enable notification of the CloudEdge app in the mobile settings. |
8 | No alarm video recording | Please insert the TF card or turn on cloud storage. |
9 | Device offline | Check if the network works well. It is possible that the location where the camera is installed is too far from the router, causing the Wi-Fi to not cover the camera. |
10 | Video delay | Check the WIFI network; the distance between the camera and the router should not be too long. |
11 | Short battery life | The camera was awakened too often and should not be placed on the roadside or in the sun. |
12 | Cannot start camera after replacing battery | 1) Check if the positive and negative poles of the battery are correct. 2) Check if the battery is the recommended type. |
13 | Unable to charge | 1) Please use the 5V 2A power adapter to charge the camera correctly. 2) When charging is normal, the charging indicator will light red. If the charging indicator does not light, charging is not successful. Please check if the power adapter and charging cable are normal. |
14 | CloudEdge APP Flashback | 1) It may be that your phone system version is too low or too high, resulting in poor compatibility. It is recommended that you uninstall the app and re-download it. 2) Contact customer service staff to provide information such as the model number and system version number of your mobile phone. |
15 | Unable to register account | 1) When registering an account, please select the correct country. 2) When you register your account, you do not need to enter a verification code. Please follow the process to register your account. |
16 | Unable to add friend | Your account and friend account must choose the same country, or the same area. For example, accounts in Europe and America cannot add friends. |
