General Precautions

Important Information

Battery

The battery installed at the factory may discharge during shipping and storage. If the display becomes dim, replace the battery at an authorized CASIO service center or dealer.

Water Resistance

For all categories of watches, do not:

If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it.

Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.

For watches with plastic straps

A whitish powdery substance may appear on the strap. This substance is harmless and can be removed by wiping with a cloth.

Sweat or moisture on plastic straps, or storage in high humidity, can cause damage, breakage, or cracking. To ensure a long service life, wipe plastic straps clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth whenever possible.

For watches with fluorescent cases and straps

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause gradual fading of fluorescent colors.

Prolonged contact with moisture can cause gradual fading of fluorescent colors. Wipe off any moisture as soon as possible. Prolonged contact with other wet surfaces can cause discoloration. Ensure fluorescent surfaces are dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.

Water Resistance Classification

Watches are classified by levels (I to V) according to their water resistance. Refer to the table below to determine proper usage.

LevelCase MarkingSplashes, Rain, WashingSwimming, Washing machines, etc.Water Sports, Skin DivingScuba Diving (excluding helium-oxygen mix)
INo markingNoNoNoNo

III50 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesNoNo
IV100 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesNo
V200 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesYes
V300 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesYes

Notes:

II WR (Water Resistant) means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause problems.

III With 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance, the watch can withstand water pressure of the indicated value and can be used during showers and brief swimming.

IV Water resistance of 10 Bar (100 meters) means the watch can be used for regular swimming and skin diving.

V Water resistance of 20 Bar (200 meters) means the watch can be used for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).

Strong friction of a surface with fluorescent paint against another surface may cause the transfer of fluorescent paint to that surface.

CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of this watch, nor does it accept claims from third parties.

Condensation may form on the inside of the glass during sharp temperature changes. This is a natural phenomenon and not a defect.

Care of Your Watch

Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover.

The rubber gasket protecting the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years.

If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your dealer or a CASIO distributor.

General Description of Operating Modes

Pressing the 'C' button cycles through the modes in the following sequence: Current Time Mode - Battery Power Indicator Mode - World Time Mode - Alarm Mode - Stopwatch Mode - Analog Time Mode - Current Time Mode.

Press the 'B' button to activate the backlight in any mode.

Timekeeping Signal (Calibration Signal)

This watch automatically corrects the time based on a calibration signal. You can also set the time manually.

In Current Time Mode, press the 'D' button to display the time of the last signal reception.

Before using the watch, set the city code for your current location.

Transmission Signal Centers

Signal transmission centers are located in Germany (approx. 25 km from Frankfurt) or Rugby, England. The signal covers a radius of 1000 km. The signal may be weak at distances over 500 meters. Signal transmission is also affected by natural conditions, atmospheric pressure, and temperature. The following factors can weaken the signal:

Types of Signal Reception

There are two types of calibration signal reception. With auto-calibration enabled, the watch automatically receives the signal five times daily and corrects the time. With forced calibration enabled, you press a button to receive the signal:

Forced Calibration:

  1. Place your watch horizontally.
  2. In Current Time Mode, press and hold the 'D' button for 2 seconds until a beep sounds and the 'RC' indicator flashes, indicating signal reception has begun.

The second hand moves to the 12 o'clock position.

Signal reception lasts from 2 to 7 minutes. Do not move the watch during reception.

After reception, the display will show the last reception data. To stop the reception process and return to Current Time Mode, press the 'D' button.

If signal reception fails, the 'ERR' indicator will appear for 1-2 minutes, after which the watch automatically returns to Current Time Mode. You can return to Current Time Mode by pressing the 'D' button.

Auto-Calibration

With auto-calibration enabled, the watch automatically receives the signal five times a day: at 0:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 AM. The watch will attempt an additional reception at 5:00 AM if previous attempts failed. Auto-calibration occurs only when the watch is in Current Time Mode or World Time Mode.

Enabling/Disabling Auto-Calibration:

  1. In Current Time Mode, press and hold the 'A' button until the transmission indicator appears.
  2. Press the 'C' button three times to go to the auto-calibration enable/disable mode.
  3. Press the 'D' button to enable ('ON') or disable ('OFF') auto-calibration.
  4. Press the 'A' button twice to finish.

Current Time Mode

Pressing the 'D' button in Current Time Mode switches between current time/date and last signal reception time.

Pressing the 'A' button switches between the current date display, the calibration signal reception indicator, and the current time second display.

Setting Time and Date

  1. In Current Time Mode, press and hold 'A' until the transmission indicator appears. The second hand moves to the 12 o'clock position.
  2. Press 'C' to cycle through the settings: Signal Reception Center -> City Code -> Daylight Saving Time (DST) -> Auto-Calibration -> Hour -> Minute -> 12/24 Hour Format -> Seconds -> Month -> Day -> Power Saving Mode -> Year.
  3. If seconds are selected for correction (seconds flash), press 'D' to reset seconds to 00. If 'D' is pressed when seconds are between 30 and 59, seconds reset to 00 and minutes increment by 1. If seconds are between 00 and 29, minutes do not change.
  4. Use buttons 'B' and 'D' to change values.
  5. Press 'D' to switch between 12/24 hour formats. In 12-hour format, 'P' indicates PM.
  6. Select city name by pressing 'D' and 'B'.
  7. Press 'D' to enable/disable Daylight Saving Time (DST): Auto-DST ('A') -> DST Off ('OFF') -> DST On ('ON') -> Auto-DST ('A').
  8. Press 'D' to enable ('ON') or disable ('OFF') auto-calibration.
  9. Press 'D' to enable ('ON') or disable ('OFF') power saving mode.
  10. Press 'B' to switch backlight duration: 1.5 seconds or 2.5 seconds.
  11. For signal reception settings ('AT' (Auto), 'MSF' (UK, for module 3353), 'DCF' (Germany, for module 3354)), use button 'D'. Holding the button changes values faster.
  12. The day of the week is set automatically according to the date. The date can be set from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2099.
  13. After setting the date and time, press 'A'.

Signal Reception Indicator

This indicator shows the signal reception strength. When the watch is positioned for optimal reception, the indicator is fully displayed. Always position the watch for clear reception.

It takes about 10 seconds for the indicator to show reception strength. If the indicator is not present, signal reception is not occurring. Perform manual calibration or check watch settings.

Backlight

Press 'B' in any mode to turn on the backlight. The backlight uses an LED combined with fluorescent coating for readability in the dark. A faint sound may be heard during illumination due to vibrating backlight elements; this is not a malfunction. The backlight is difficult to see in direct sunlight. Frequent use of the backlight reduces battery life. To switch backlight duration (1.5 or 2.5 seconds), press 'B' in Current Time Mode.

Analog Time Mode

The analog time is synchronized with the current time. No manual setting is usually required.

If the analog time does not match the digital time, perform the following:

  1. In Analog Time Mode, press and hold 'A' until '-00-' appears. The second hand moves to the 12 o'clock position.
  2. Use buttons 'D' and 'B' to adjust the time. Pressing 'D' advances time by 20 seconds; pressing 'B' moves it back by 20 seconds. Holding 'D' while pressing 'B' allows faster adjustment. Press any button to stop fast adjustment.
  3. Press 'A' to finish.

World Time Mode

This mode allows you to view the local time in any of 30 cities worldwide (29 time zones).

Viewing Time in Another Time Zone

In World Time Mode, press 'D' to select the city whose time you want to view. To enable/disable Daylight Saving Time (DST) for a city, select the city name and press and hold 'A'. 'DST' will appear next to the city name when DST is enabled.

Alarm Mode

You can set multiple daily alarms. The alarm will sound for 10 seconds at the set time. If the Hourly Chime is enabled, a short beep will sound at the start of each hour.

Setting an Alarm

  1. In Alarm Mode, press 'D' to select the alarm type: AL1, AL2, AL3, or SIG (Hourly Chime).
  2. After selecting the alarm type, press and hold 'A'. The hour digits will flash, indicating they are selected for setting. The alarm automatically turns ON when you start setting it.
  3. Press 'C' to cycle through settings: Hour -> Minute -> Hour.
  4. Press 'D' to increase and 'B' to decrease the selected value. Holding the button speeds up the change. The 12/24 hour format matches the Current Time Mode setting. Be mindful of AM/PM in 12-hour format.
  5. After setting, press 'A' to return to Alarm Mode.

Checking Alarm Sound

In Alarm Mode, press 'D' to check the alarm sound.

Enabling/Disabling Alarms

  1. In Alarm Mode, press 'D' to select the alarm type.
  2. After selecting the alarm type, press 'A' to enable or disable it. 'AL' appears for any of the 3 alarms, and 'SIG' appears for the Hourly Chime.

Stopwatch Mode

The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes. The maximum measurement range is 99 minutes 59.99 seconds.
