This document provides a quick start guide for the INSTEON Outdoor On/Off Module, designed to bring smart control to your outdoor lighting and appliances.
Device Overview
The INSTEON Outdoor On/Off Module features:
- Status LED: Indicates the module's status.
- On: ☀️ (Green)
- Off: ? (Red)
- On/Off Functionality: Allows remote control of connected devices.
- Set Button: Used for linking and configuration.
The module is designed to control various outdoor appliances, such as:
- Fountains ⛲
- Lamps ?
- Christmas Lights ?
Installation
To install the INSTEON Outdoor On/Off Module:
- Plug your appliance into the bottom receptacle of the Outdoor On/Off Module.
- Plug the On/Off Module into a weather-protected outlet. A water droplet icon ? indicates the need for protection from the elements.

Ensure Fixture Switch is ON
For the INSTEON Outdoor On/Off Module to remotely control your fixture, the fixture's own physical switch must be in the ON position. If the fixture's switch is OFF, the module will be unable to turn it ON remotely.

Linking to the INSTEON Hub
Follow these steps to connect your module to your INSTEON Hub:
- Step 1: Initiate the linking process within the INSTEON Hub app. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your On/Off Module. A smartphone icon with a plus sign ➕ represents this step.
- Step 2: Ensure your connected fixture is powered ON. When prompted by the app, press and hold the Set Button on the INSTEON Outdoor On/Off Module until the device is added. A hand pointing icon ? with a clock ⏱️ indicates pressing the button.
Important Note: If you are not using an INSTEON Hub, please refer to the specific instructions that were included with your product for alternative setup methods. A warning icon ⚠️ highlights this important information.
Device Control
Once linked, you can control your connected outdoor appliance remotely:
- Turn the device ON or OFF.
- Set schedules for automatic operation.
- Create custom scenes involving multiple INSTEON devices.
