Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully for correct installation:
- Preparation: Before installation, check all parts for damage incurred during transport. Ensure the installation is performed by qualified personnel in compliance with local regulations. Identify the strongest points on the vehicle's rear wall or door where the brackets will be fixed.
- Tube Adjustment: Cut the vertical tubes (B) to the desired spacing.
- Horizontal Tube Adjustment: If a rear camera is present on the vehicle, the horizontal support tube can be moved to a lower position.
- Mounting Brackets: Attach the main frame components and mounting plates (A, I, L) to the vehicle's rear structure using the provided hardware (e.g., bolts R, nuts Q, washers S). Ensure secure attachment to reinforced points.
- Drilling: If necessary, drill holes (e.g., Ø 6.5 mm) in the vehicle structure for mounting. Use parts U, X, V, Z as shown in the diagrams.
- Securing the Frame: Assemble the main frame using the appropriate bolts and washers.
- Final Tightening: Ensure all connections are secure. A 2mm gap is recommended when tightening the fork to the tube (refer to Step 7 diagram).
- Electrical Connection (12V): This product operates on 12V. Disconnect the vehicle battery before starting electrical work. Route the power cable safely and securely. If the supplied cable is too short, use a connecting cable with a larger cross-section to avoid voltage drops. Use appropriate cable clamps. Connect the cables to the vehicle's ignition circuit via a relay (not supplied) and a 25A fuse. Ensure proper cable gauge (4.0 mm² for up to 10m, 6.0 mm² for over 10m).
- Function Test: After electrical connections are made, perform a general function test by holding the UP/DOWN button to raise and lower the rail support base. Check that the symbols on the button correspond. If no movement occurs, re-check all cable connections.
- Operation Warning: The product does not have an automatic stop system. When the moving part approaches the fixed structure during closing, release the button to prevent interference. Do not hold the button down for more than 3 seconds once the closed position is reached. Ensure no objects obstruct the movement.
- Bike Loading: Load bikes onto the rails. Secure each bike using the provided straps (M). For standard bikes, load up to 4. For E-bikes, load up to 2. Ensure the heaviest bikes are placed closest to the vehicle for stability.
- Securing Bikes: Ensure all bikes are firmly secured with the straps.
- Pre-Departure Check: Before driving, always hook the two security straps securely.
Diagrams illustrate each installation step, showing parts, tools, and mounting locations.
Usage and Safety Instructions
- General Safety: Always read and follow all instructions and warnings. Failure to do so may result in severe harm or damage. Fiamma is not responsible for modifications or improper installation.
- Vehicle Compatibility: Ensure the vehicle's rear wall/door is solid and suitable for anchoring points. Reinforce if necessary.
- Weight Distribution: The carrier modifies the vehicle's weight distribution. Do not exceed maximum permissible axle loads. Distribute the load evenly, placing heavier bikes closer to the vehicle. Never exceed the vehicle's maximum permitted length and total weight.
- Driving Precautions: Always signal the presence of the carrier with an appropriate load sign. Use additional rear-view mirrors if rear visibility is limited. Be mindful of the carrier's presence when driving, especially when reversing or using parking assist systems. Comply with speed limits and traffic laws. Adjust speed to traffic conditions and load. Ensure the tow hook remains accessible if towing a trailer.
- Periodic Checks: Regularly check the carrier's attachment, especially after the first few kilometers and before/after long trips. Inspect rubber parts and straps for wear and replace if necessary.
- Battery Removal: It is advisable to remove bicycle batteries before transporting them on the carrier.
- Handlebar Rotation: Rotate bicycle handlebars to prevent damage to the vehicle wall. Fiamma is not liable for such damage.
- Motor Failure: In case of motor failure, remove bikes, manually lift and close the frame, securing it with straps, then contact service.
- E-bike Loading: When loading E-bikes, it is recommended to remove the batteries.
Diagrams show correct and incorrect loading, weight distribution, and angle limits.
Electrical Connection Details
The Carry-Bike Motor Lift 77 operates on a 12V DC system. Ensure the vehicle battery is disconnected during installation. The connection should be made via the vehicle's ignition circuit. Use appropriate gauge wiring (4.0 mm² for up to 10m, 6.0 mm² for over 10m) and a 25A fuse. A relay (not supplied) is used to cut power to the motor when the ignition is off.
Maintenance and Warranty
Periodically check all fasteners and straps for wear. Replace any worn components immediately. In case of defects in materials or manufacturing, the customer is entitled to warranty according to local laws. The warranty can be extended for one year free of charge by registering the product on the Fiamma website.
