Polar Patterns
The JLab Talk microphone offers multiple polar patterns for versatile recording:
- Cardioid: Optimized for recording directly in front of the microphone, rejecting sound from the sides and rear. Ideal for vocals and instruments. [Diagram: Circular pattern with a heart shape pointing forward, indicating sensitivity in the front.]
- Omni: Captures sound equally from all directions. Useful for capturing ambient sound or group discussions. [Diagram: Circular pattern showing uniform sensitivity in all directions.]
- Stereo: Records sound from the left and right channels separately, creating a wider stereo image. Ideal for music or immersive audio. [Diagram: Two distinct lobes pointing left and right, indicating stereo recording.]
- Bidirectional: Captures sound from both the front and the rear of the microphone, while rejecting sound from the sides. Suitable for interviews with two people facing each other. [Diagram: Circular pattern with lobes pointing forward and backward, indicating sensitivity in front and rear.]
In Use
Microphone Placement: For optimal audio quality, position the microphone correctly. Avoid placing it too close or too far from the sound source.

Software Compatibility: The Talk microphone works seamlessly with nearly all recording software installed on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Please review your software settings and adjust as needed.
Driverless Operation: No additional drivers or software installation are required for the Talk microphone. Simply plug it in and configure it within your system's device settings.
Power Source: The Talk microphone cannot be powered by a power bank or batteries. It requires a USB-A input connection with an operating system to function.
