Setup

Connect the USB-C Cable
Connect the USB-C end to the JLab Talk microphone.
Connect the USB-A end to your PC or Mac's USB INPUT port.

Configure Device Settings
Configure your PC or Mac settings and ensure the connection is established.

Configure JLab Talk on PC / Mac
For PC (Windows 7, 8, or 10):
- Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select the Sound icon in the Control Panel.
- Go to the Recording tab and select "JLab Talk" as the input device.
- Go to the Playback tab and select "JLab Talk" as the output device.
For Mac (macOS 10.10 or newer):
- Open System Preferences and select the Sound icon.
- Select the Input tab and choose "JLab Talk".
- Select the Output tab and choose "JLab Talk".
- Adjust the audio output volume to your desired level using the slider on this screen.
Controls and Features
Microphone Controls
- Mute On/Off & Recording Switch: Press the button to toggle mute on or off.
- Volume/Gain Adjustment: Press the button to switch between adjusting volume or gain. Rotate the knob to set the desired level.
Ports
- 3.5mm AUX Output: For connecting headphones or speakers.
- USB-C Input: For connecting to your computer.
Polar Patterns
The JLab Talk microphone offers multiple polar patterns for different recording scenarios:
- Cardioid: Best for capturing sound directly from the front, rejecting sound from the sides and rear. Ideal for vocals or single-source recording.
- Omni: Captures sound equally from all directions. Suitable for conference calls or capturing ambient sound.
- Stereo: Captures sound from the left and right channels separately, creating a wider soundstage.
- Bidirectional: Captures sound from the front and rear of the microphone, while rejecting sound from the sides. Useful for interviews with two people facing each other.
Microphone Placement

Usage Notes
- The JLab Talk microphone is compatible with most recording software on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Please check your software's audio settings and configure them as needed.
- No additional drivers or software are required for the JLab Talk microphone; simply plug it in and configure it through your device's audio settings.
- The JLab Talk microphone does not support power banks or battery packs. It requires a direct USB-A connection to your computer's operating system for power and functionality.
