Setup
This section guides you through setting up your JLab Talk USB Microphone.

Connect the Microphone: Connect the USB-C cable to the Talk microphone. Connect the other end to a USB-A input on your PC or Mac.

Configure PC/Mac Settings: Adjust your computer's settings to ensure the connection is recognized.

Talk Setup with PC / MAC
PC Setup (Windows 7, 8, or 10)
- Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select the Sound icon from the Control Panel.
- Select the Recording tab and then select JLab Talk.
- Select the Playback tab and then select JLab Talk.
Mac Setup (macOS 10.10 or Higher)
- Open System Settings and select the Sound icon.
- Select the Input tab and then select JLab Talk.
- Select the Output tab and select JLab Talk.
- From this screen, set the Output Volume to your desired level.
Controls
Microphone Controls
Mute/Unmute: Press the button to activate/deactivate mute.
Volume/Gain: Press to change volume or gain. Rotate the wheel to control the level.

Polar Patterns
Pickup Modes
- CARDIOID: Pickup via front. Captures sound directly in front of the microphone.
- OMNI: Pickup of all surroundings. Captures sound from all directions equally.
- STEREO: Pickup via left and right channel. Captures a wide stereo image.
- TOVEIS (Bidirectional): Pickup via front and back channel. Captures sound from the front and rear, ideal for interviews.
In Use
Microphone Placement
Incorrect Position: Microphone is too far or angled away from the sound source.
Correct Position: Microphone is positioned close to and directly facing the sound source for optimal capture.

Usage Notes
- The Talk microphone functions with almost all recording software installed on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Check your software settings and make any desired adjustments.
- No additional drivers or software are necessary for the Talk microphone. Simply plug it in and configure it in your device settings.
- The Talk microphone does not function through a power bank/battery pack. It only works with a USB-A input connected to an operating system.
