Configuration
Step 1: Connection
Connect the USB-C to the Talk PRO microphone. Then, connect to the USB port of your PC or Mac.
Step 2: Checking Connection
Check your PC or Mac settings to ensure the connection is established.
Step 3: Configuring Talk PRO with a PC / MAC
Configuring Talk PRO with a PC (Windows 7, 8, or 10)
- In the Start menu, select Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, select the Sound icon.
- Select the Recording tab, then select JLab Talk PRO.
- Select the Playback tab, then select JLab Talk PRO.
Configuring Talk PRO with MAC (macOS 10.10 or HIGHER)
- Open System Preferences and select the Sound icon.
- Select the Input tab, then select JLab Talk PRO.
- Select the Output tab, then select JLab Talk PRO.
- From this screen, adjust the output volume to your desired level.
Settings and Usage Modes
Settings Overview
The microphone features several controls and indicators:
Front Panel:
- Recording Settings: Main control for adjusting input levels.
- Sound Muted / Sound Active: Button to mute or unmute the microphone.
- Volume / Gain Control: Dial for adjusting output volume or interface gain.
- Recording Switch: Button to start or stop recording.
Rear Panel:
- Gain Control: Knob for adjusting input gain.
- Volume Control: Knob for adjusting output volume.
Bottom Panel:
- 5/8" Mount: Thread for attaching the microphone to a stand or boom arm.
- LED Indicator: Light indicator for microphone status.
- 3.5 MM AUX OUT: Jack for connecting headphones or monitors.
- USB-C INPUT: Port for connecting to a computer.
Microphone Polar Patterns (Diagrams replaced with descriptions)
Cardioid:
- Primarily records from the front. Ideal for single voices.
Omni:
- Records from all directions. Useful for group discussions or ambiance.
Stereo:
- Records left and right channels separately. For an immersive sound experience.
Bidirectional:
- Records from front and rear channels. Perfect for face-to-face interviews.
In Use Mode
Correct Position:
- Place the microphone directly in front of the sound source (e.g., your mouth) for optimal recording.
Incorrect Position:
- Avoid placing the microphone to the side or too far from the sound source.
Important Notes
- Talk PRO works with most recording software installed on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Check your software settings and adjust as needed.
- No additional drivers or software are needed for Talk PRO. Simply plug in and configure the device settings.
- Talk PRO does not work with an external battery or a battery. It only works with a USB-A input and an operating system.
