Giant Contact Switch SL Dropper Seatpost User Manual
Product of Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
1. Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing the new Giant Contact Switch SL dropper seatpost. This product features a reinforced structure and a durable spring design for long-lasting, stable performance. The new Contact Switch SL is a lightweight dropper seatpost designed for XC and Gravel riding. It utilizes a mechanical spring system, dual-position setting, and a durable structure, offering smooth and efficient performance with minimal weight, making it an ideal choice for challenging climbs and technical descents.
The new design focuses on pure functionality: switch to the high position for efficient pedaling, or to the low position for tackling technical trails. There are no intermediate "fuzzy" zones.
Available in 110mm and 140mm travel options to suit most riders.
The premium aluminum alloy construction provides excellent strength while maintaining extreme lightness. Titanium screws and a redesigned seat clamp further reduce weight.
Easy to use and affordably priced, the Giant Contact Switch SL will help you conquer trails and ride with confidence!
⚠️ Note: Please read this manual completely before installation and riding. Failure to install and use as instructed may result in serious injury or death.
- Adjusting saddle height during riding may lead to loss of control.
- Any modification to the seatpost is prohibited. All modifications will void the warranty.
- Loose, overtightened, damaged, or worn parts may cause unexpected malfunctions. Regularly inspect the seatpost for wear and damage. If any obvious wear, cracks, or dents are found, stop using the product immediately and contact a Giant authorized dealer for inspection, repair, or replacement.
- Before each ride, ensure all seatpost clamp screws are tightened to the recommended torque.
- Overtightening the seatpost clamp may affect height adjustment function. Refer to the recommended torque for the seatpost clamp or your bike's manual.

5. Cable Routing Installation
Illustrated guide for installing the dropper seatpost cable.
- (If assembling a new bicycle, skip this step) Remove the existing seatpost.
- Loosen the rear seat clamp screws and temporarily remove the clamp pieces. You will see the cable entry point (A). Route the new cable through the seatpost and out from the bottom.
- Roughly position the saddle to a horizontal level. Temporarily tighten the clamp screws (B).
- Fully insert the cable into the outer housing (C). Then, attach the outer housing end to the cable stop at the bottom of the seatpost (D).
- Apply a thin layer of anti-seize paste to the seatpost clamping area (E) or to the inside of the seat tube. Insert the seatpost into the frame to approximately the minimum insertion mark between the lock ring and the mark. Tighten the seatpost clamp according to the recommended torque*. Do not overtighten, as this will affect smooth operation.
- Route the outer cable housing through the appropriate frame hole.
⚠️ Note: Cable routing may temporarily require removal of the crankset and BB. Contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
7. Install Remote Lever
- Mount the lever to the lock ring or corresponding brake interface using a 3mm hex wrench. Recommended torque: 3Nm.
- Route the cable through the micro-adjuster and secure the outer housing.
- Pull the cable taut to ensure the seatpost, cable, housing, micro-adjuster, and lever are properly connected.
- Secure the cable with a 3mm hex wrench. Recommended torque: 1.2Nm (F).
- Trim excess cable and attach the end cap. Adjust the remote lever to your preferred position.
⚠️ Note: Ensure the end cap is installed to prevent the cable from fraying and causing injury.
- Use the remote lever to test the dropper function for initial operation (G).
- Adjust the saddle height to your desired level, ensuring it does not go below the minimum insertion depth. Tighten all screws according to the recommended values (H).
? Warning: If the dropper function operates abnormally, stop riding immediately. Contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
If the minimum insertion depth cannot be reached, do not ride the bicycle. Insufficient insertion depth may lead to component failure, serious injury, or death.
6. Operation
? Warning: Adjusting saddle height while riding may cause loss of control.
Lowering Saddle Height: Press the remote lever while using your body weight to push the saddle down to the low position. Release the lever to complete the adjustment. Note: The Contact Switch SL is designed with both low and high positions. If the seatpost does not reach the low position when the lever is released, it will naturally extend back to the high position.
Raising Saddle Height: Slightly lift your body weight off the saddle, press the remote lever, and release it once the saddle reaches the desired high position.
⚠️ Note: A slight play between the upper and lower tubes is normal for smooth operation of the dropper post. If this play becomes more pronounced with use, contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
7. Maintenance Schedule and Troubleshooting
The new Giant Contact Switch SL, with its simple and integrated design, can be periodically disassembled for maintenance to ensure long-lasting durability. Contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
Recommended Maintenance Schedule: Annual basic maintenance and cartridge service.
For new products, a small amount of lubricant may seep out from the lock ring during the first few rides. This is normal; simply wipe it clean.
Clean the exterior of the dropper seatpost before or after riding. Use a mild soap solution or cleaner to remove dust and dirt. Rinsing with unpressurized tap water will not affect the seatpost, but avoid high-pressure washing.
If the seatpost does not operate correctly, or if the installed position changes over time (typically lowering), re-installation may resolve the issue. If problems persist, contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
