Giant Contact Switch SL Dropper Seatpost User Manual
This manual provides detailed information on the installation, operation, maintenance, and warranty of the Giant Contact Switch SL dropper seatpost.
1. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the new GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL. The CONTACT SWITCH SL is a lightweight dropper seatpost designed for XC and gravel riding. Featuring a mechanical system, two positions, and a durable construction, it delivers smooth, efficient performance with minimal weight – ideal for tackling challenging climbs and descents with confidence.
The design prioritizes ease of use: a high position for efficient pedaling and a low position for technical terrain. It offers 110 mm and 140 mm of travel to meet the demands of most riders.
The premium aluminum construction provides exceptional strength with minimal weight. Titanium bolts and a redesigned seat clamp further reduce the weight of the Giant dropper.
The GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL is simple, lightweight, and helps you conquer your local trails like a pro.
NOTE: Read the instructions carefully before installing and using this seatpost. Failure to follow instructions may lead to serious injury or death.
- Adjusting saddle height while riding can lead to loss of control.
- Never ride with a modified CONTACT SWITCH SL seatpost. Any modification voids the warranty.
- Loose, overtightened, damaged, or worn parts can cause unexpected failures. Regularly inspect the seatpost for wear or damage. If the seatpost or any of its parts show signs of wear, cracks, or dents, stop using the seatpost immediately and visit an authorized Giant dealer for inspection, repair, or replacement.
- Before riding, ensure all bolts on the CONTACT SWITCH SL seatpost are securely tightened according to the recommended torque specifications.
- Overtightening the seatpost clamp will affect the seatpost's height adjustment functionality. The recommended torque can be found on the seat clamp or in the bicycle's user manual.

5. Installation
Follow these steps to install the GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL dropper seatpost:
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the crank and bottom bracket components to route the cable into the frame. Contact an authorized Giant dealer for assistance.
CAUTION: *Choose the lowest value between the seatpost's specification and the frame manufacturer's recommendation.
6. Operation
WARNING: Adjusting saddle height while the bike is in motion can lead to loss of control.
To lower the saddle height: Press the remote lever and push the saddle down, or sit on the saddle to reach the preset lower height. Release the remote lever.
The CONTACT SWITCH SL is designed to remain in the high or low position. If the low position is not achieved after releasing the remote lever, the saddle will typically return to the high position.
To raise the saddle height: Remove weight from the saddle and press the remote lever until maximum extension/height is reached. Release the remote lever.
7. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
A small amount of grease may leak from the collar ring after the first few rides; this is normal and can be wiped away.
Clean the exterior before or after each ride to ensure long-term performance. Use a mild soap solution to remove accumulated dirt or dust. Rinsing with plain drinking water will not affect the lifespan. However, avoid using a high-pressure cleaner to prevent water ingress.
If the seatpost becomes less smooth in operation or its set position changes over time (often lower than before), re-installation may resolve the issue.
Thanks to its simple design, the GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL dropper post can be maintained to ensure long-lasting performance. Consult your local authorized Giant dealer for advice.
Recommended Maintenance Interval:
Annual basic service and cartridge maintenance.
