Giant Contact Switch SL Dropper Seatpost User Manual
1. Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing the new Giant Contact Switch SL dropper seatpost. This product offers durable structure and a metal spring design for long-lasting, stable performance. The new Contact Switch SL is a lightweight dropper seatpost designed specifically for XC and Gravel riding. It utilizes a mechanical spring system, dual-stage adjustment, and a durable structure to provide smooth, efficient performance, ideal for tackling challenging climbs and technical descents.
The new design returns to the purest form of usability – switch to the high position to maintain pedaling efficiency; or switch to the low position to tackle technical sections. No more intermediate "fuzzy" zones.
Available in 110mm and 140mm travel options to suit most riders. The premium aluminum alloy structure provides excellent strength while maintaining extreme lightness. Titanium screws and a redesigned seat clamp further reduce weight.
Easy to use and affordably priced, the Giant Contact Switch SL empowers you to conquer any trail!
- Adjusting saddle height while riding may cause loss of control.
- Do not modify the seatpost in any way. Any modification will void the warranty.
- Loose, overtightened, damaged, or worn parts may lead to unexpected malfunctions. Regularly inspect the seatpost for wear and damage. If any obvious wear, cracks, dents, or other abnormal conditions are found, stop using the product immediately and contact a Giant authorized dealer for inspection, repair, or replacement.
- Before each ride, ensure all seatpost screws are tightened to the recommended torque.
- Overtightening the seatpost clamp may affect height adjustment function. Refer to the recommended torque for the seatpost clamp or your bike's owner manual.

4. Remote Levers
Depending on the bike model and specifications, the compatible remote lever may be one of the following:
- Contact Switch SL: A specific lever for this seatpost.
- Contact Switch AT: Another compatible lever option.
- Giant Vertical Remote: A vertical lever design.
- Giant Road Drop-Bar Remote: A lever designed for drop handlebars.
The Giant Contact Switch SL dropper seatpost is compatible with all Giant levers. For lever mounting, ensure screws are tightened to 3Nm.
5. Cable Routing Installation
Follow these steps for installation:
- (If assembling a new bicycle, skip this step) Remove the existing seatpost and saddle.
- Loosen the rear seat clamp screws and temporarily remove the clamp plates. You will see the cable entry port (A). Insert the new cable through the seatpost and out the bottom.
- Roughly position the saddle to a level state. Loosely tighten the clamp screws (B).
- Fully insert the inner cable into the outer casing. Attach the outer casing to the cable stop point at the bottom of the seatpost (D).
- Apply a thin layer of anti-seize paste to the seatpost's clamping area (E) or to the inside of the frame's seat tube. Insert the seatpost into the frame, aligning it approximately to the minimum insertion mark and the lock ring. Tighten the seatpost clamp to the recommended torque*. Do not overtighten, as this may affect smooth operation.
- Route the outer cable through the appropriate frame holes according to your bike's specifications.
7. Installing the Remote Lever
- Mount the lever to the lock ring or corresponding brake interface using a 3mm hex wrench. Recommended torque: 3Nm.
- Insert the inner cable through the micro-adjuster and secure the outer casing.
- Pull the inner cable taut to ensure the seatpost, cable, outer casing, micro-adjuster, and lever are all properly connected.
- Secure the inner cable using a 3mm hex wrench. Recommended torque: 1.2Nm (F).
- Trim excess inner cable and fit an end cap. Adjust the remote lever to your preferred position.
8. Test Dropper Operation
Use the remote lever to test the dropper seatpost's up and down movement (G).
9. Final Adjustment
Adjust the saddle height to your preferred position, ensuring it does not go below the minimum insertion depth. Tighten all screws to the recommended torque (H).
6. Operation
Lowering Seat Height: Press the remote lever simultaneously and apply weight to the saddle to lower it to the low position. Release the remote lever to complete the adjustment. Note: The Contact Switch SL is designed with distinct low and high positions. If the lever is released before reaching the low position, the seatpost will naturally extend to the high position.
Raising Seat Height: Shift your weight slightly off the saddle, press the remote lever, and the saddle will rise. Release the remote lever once it reaches the high position.
A slight rotational play or gap between the upper and lower tubes is normal and designed to ensure smooth operation. If this play becomes significantly more noticeable over time, please contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
7. Maintenance Schedule and Troubleshooting
The new Giant Contact Switch SL features a simple, integrated design that allows for regular maintenance to ensure its longevity and durability. Please contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
Recommended Maintenance Period: Perform basic maintenance and clamp service once a year.
Slight amounts of lubricating grease may seep out from the lock ring area during the first few rides on a new product. This is normal; simply wipe it clean.
Clean the exterior of the dropper seatpost before or after each ride. Use a neutral soap or cleaning solution to remove dust and dirt. Rinsing with low-pressure tap water will not affect the seatpost, but avoid using high-pressure washing methods.
If the seatpost does not operate correctly, or if the installed position changes over time (typically lowering), reinstallation may resolve the issue. If you continue to experience difficulties, please contact a Giant authorized dealer for assistance.
