GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL Dropper Seatpost User Manual
1. Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing the new GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL dropper seatpost. This product features a reinforced structure and metal spring design for durable, long-lasting use. The CONTACT SWITCH SL is designed for XC and Gravel riding, utilizing a mechanical spring system, two-stage adjustment, and a robust structure to provide smooth and efficient performance with minimal weight, making it ideal for challenging climbs and technical descents.
The new design offers a pure riding experience: switch to the high position for pedaling efficiency, or to the low position for tackling technical trails, with no intermediate positions.
Available in 110mm and 140mm travel options to suit most riders.
The high-quality aluminum alloy structure provides excellent strength while maintaining extreme lightness. Titanium alloy screws and a redesigned seat clamp further reduce weight.
Easy to use and affordably priced, the GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL is ready to help you conquer any trail!
⚠️ Attention: Please read this manual completely before installation and riding. Improper installation or use may result in serious injury or death.
- 1. Adjusting saddle height while riding may lead to loss of control.
- 2. Do not modify the seatpost in any way. Any modification will void the warranty.
- 3. Loose, overtightened, damaged, or worn parts may cause unexpected malfunctions. Regularly inspect the seatpost for wear and damage. If any significant wear, cracks, dents, or abnormalities are found, stop use immediately and contact an authorized GIANT dealer for inspection, repair, or replacement.
- 4. Ensure all seatpost clamp screws are tightened to the recommended torque before each ride.
- 5. Overtightening the seatpost clamp may affect height adjustment. Refer to the recommended torque for the seatpost clamp or your bike's manual.

5. Cable Routing Installation
A series of images (A-H) demonstrate the cable routing and installation process for the GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL dropper seatpost.
- (Skip if assembling a new bike) Remove existing saddle and dropper seatpost.
- Loosen seat clamp screws and temporarily remove clamp plates. The cable entry port (A) is visible. Insert new cable into seatpost center and out the bottom.
- Roughly position saddle horizontally. Temporarily tighten clamp screws (B).
- Fully insert cable into outer casing (C). Then attach outer casing end to the cable stop point at the bottom of the seatpost (D).
- Apply a thin layer of anti-seize paste to the seatpost clamping area (E) or inside the frame's seat tube. Insert seatpost into frame to at least the minimum insertion mark and between the lock ring. Tighten seatpost clamp to recommended torque*. Do not overtighten, as it will affect smooth operation. (* Use the lower of the frame's recommended torque or the seatpost's recommended torque).
- Route outer cable through appropriate frame holes according to frame recommendations.
⚠️ Attention: Crankset and BB may need temporary removal for cable routing. Contact an authorized GIANT dealer for assistance.
7. Install Remote Lever
- Use a 3mm hex wrench to install the lever onto the lock ring or corresponding brake interface. Recommended torque: 3Nm.
- Insert cable through the micro-adjuster and tension the outer casing.
- Pull the cable taut to confirm seatpost, cable, outer casing, micro-adjuster, and lever are securely connected.
- Securely tighten the cable with a 3mm hex wrench. Recommended torque: 1.2Nm (F).
- Trim excess cable and attach cable end cap. Adjust remote lever to desired position.
6. Operation
⚠️ Warning: Adjusting saddle height while riding may cause loss of control.
Lower Saddle Height: Press the remote lever and use body weight to push the saddle down to the low position, then release the lever to complete the adjustment. Note: The Contact Switch SL is designed with two positions: low and high. If the lever is released before reaching the low position, the seatpost will naturally extend back to the high position.
Raise Saddle Height: Slightly lift body weight, press the lever, and the saddle will rise. Release the lever at the high position to complete the adjustment.
⚠️ Attention: A slight rotational play between the upper and lower tubes is normal for smooth operation. If this play becomes more pronounced with use, contact an authorized GIANT dealer for assistance.
7. Maintenance Schedule and Troubleshooting
The new GIANT CONTACT SWITCH SL features a simple, integrated design for durable, long-lasting performance with regular maintenance. Contact an authorized GIANT dealer for assistance.
Recommended Maintenance Cycle: Basic maintenance and clamp maintenance once a year.
New products may show a small amount of lubricant seeping from the lock ring during the first few rides. This is normal; wipe clean.
Clean the exterior of the dropper seatpost before or after riding. Use a neutral soap water or cleaning solution to wipe away dust and dirt. Rinsing with unpressurized tap water will not affect the seatpost, but avoid high-pressure washing.
If the seatpost does not operate correctly, or if its installed position changes over time (usually lowering), re-installation can often resolve the issue.
If difficulties persist, contact an authorized GIANT dealer for assistance.
