2.4. System Setup

The Renogy ONE Core can be powered via a DC Power Port (8V to 35V) or a Type-C port (5V DC). It connects to devices (RS-485 or CAN) using communication cables. The diagram illustrates the connections for positive, negative, DC, and communication lines.

3. Preparation

3.1. Installation Site and Environment

For proper RV levelling function, install the Core vertically to the RV floor with the screen facing front, rear, left, or right. RV levelling blocks are recommended. Ensure the installation site meets the following environmental conditions:

  • Altitude: Below 5000m (16,404 ft).
  • Temperature: -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to 70°C).
  • Humidity: 0% to 95% RH (non-condensing).
  • Install indoors, away from direct sunlight, flammable chemicals, or vapors.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 200 mm (7.9 inches) from metal objects to ensure wireless communication.

3.2. Checking Renogy ONE Core

Inspect the Core for visible damage, cracks, dents, or deformation. Ensure connector contacts are clean, dry, and free of dirt or corrosion. Do not use if damaged. The device has no serviceable parts; do not open, dismantle, repair, or modify it. Use proper protective equipment and insulated tools during installation. Dispose of according to local regulations.

3.3. Checking DC Power

Ensure the connected DC power supply is within the 8V to 35V range. Connecting to a source outside this range can cause power failure or permanent damage. Always confirm polarities before connecting and ensure the DC power is turned off to prevent electrical shock.

3.4. Extend the Power Cable

If the included power cable is too short, use an extension cable (≥ 22 AWG). Recommended tools include a wire stripper. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the extension cable. The extension cable should not exceed 10 meters (32.8 feet).

3.5. How to Connect RS-485 Communication Devices (Optional)

Renogy ONE Core supports Bluetooth wireless and wired RS-485 communication. For Bluetooth, no wiring is needed. For RS-485, connect to energy devices using appropriate cables. Recommended components include RJ45 Ethernet cables and the Renogy Communication Hub or BT-2 Bluetooth Module.

Connection types:

  • Only One Device: Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the RS-485 port.
  • Multiple Devices (Wired Connection): Connect devices in series using RJ45 Ethernet Cables, potentially via a Communication Hub.
  • Multiple Devices (Wireless Connection): Connect via Bluetooth Module (BT-2) and RJ45 Ethernet Cable.

ℹ NOTE: When using a Communication Hub with a BT-2 module for multiple devices, connect each device individually to the Core via the hub first, then reconnect all devices to the hub.

3.6. How to Connect to CAN Communication Devices (Optional)

This applies to RSHGWSN-W02W-G2 and later models for communication with Renogy devices supporting CAN. Both backbone and daisy chain topologies are supported.

For technical support, contact Renogy via renogy.com/contact-us/.

Connecting/Disconnecting LP16 Terminal Plug: Ensure correct orientation, press and hold the snap until complete. Do not shake.

Backbone Network: Requires 120Ω terminating resistors at both ends of the RV-C bus. If the RV-C bus lacks a built-in resistor, contact the RV manufacturer. If no resistor is present, the Core may not communicate properly; use the Daisy Chain Network instead.

Connect devices according to the RV manufacturer's wiring diagram. Recommended accessories include Communication Cables (RJ45 Plug to Bare Drop Cable) and Common Drop Taps. Ensure drop cables do not exceed 6m (19.6 ft) and RV-C bus does not exceed 30m (98.4 ft).

Daisy Chain Network: For RVs not integrated with RV-C buses. Connect devices in series using LP16 Plug (7-Pin) to RJ45 Communication Adapter Cables. Plug Terminator Plugs into free CAN ports on the first and last devices. Unplug the LP16 Terminator Plug from the first/last device and insert the adapter cables into other devices' communication ports. Connect the RJ45 connector to the Renogy ONE Core.

4. Installation

Use the provided mounting template or draw your own based on the dimensions for drilling holes.

Mounting Template #1 (Impact Drill with Hole Saw): Requires a 2.17 in (55 mm) diameter hole.

Mounting Template #2 (Skill Saw): Requires an octagonal cutout with specific dimensions (2.17 in / 55 mm sides, with internal dashed lines).

The installation steps involve preparing the mounting surface, attaching the mounting base, connecting cables (power and communication), and securing the Core. When installing the power cable, connect the negative terminal first, then the positive. The Core can be powered via the included power cable or an optional Type-C cable.

5. Configure Renogy ONE Core

5.1. Power On/Off

Long press the On/Off Button for 5 seconds to power the Core on or off.

5.2. Pairing with the Renogy App

For initial setup, follow the startup wizard on the Core to pair it with the Renogy app. Alternatively, navigate to System > Pair with App.

5.3. Add Devices

Renogy ONE Core supports wireless connection to Renogy Bluetooth, Bluetooth mesh, and Zigbee devices. Ensure the Core's firmware is updated to the latest version before adding devices.

5.4. RV Levelling

To enable RV levelling (outside the U.S.), install the Core in a suitable location and follow the levelling wizard. Calibration is required each time the installation site changes.
