Preparation

Installation Site and Environment

For proper RV leveling function, install the Core vertically to the RV floor with the screen facing front, rear, left, or right. RV leveling blocks are recommended during the leveling process.

  • Install indoors, away from direct sunlight.
  • Avoid exposure to flammable or harsh chemicals/vapors.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Maintain ambient temperature between -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to 70°C).
  • Maintain relative humidity between 0% and 95% without condensation.
  • Keep away from metal objects by at least 200 mm (7.9 inches) for optimal wireless communication.

Checking Renogy ONE Core

Inspect the Core for visible damage (cracks, dents, deformation). Ensure connector contacts are clean, dry, and free of dirt/corrosion.

  • Do not use if damaged.
  • No serviceable parts inside; do not open, dismantle, repair, or modify.
  • Use proper protective equipment and insulated tools during installation.
  • Dispose of according to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Checking DC Power

Ensure the DC power supply is between 8V and 35V. Connecting to a source outside this range can cause failure or damage. Always confirm polarity before connecting and ensure the DC power is turned off.

Extend the Power Cable

If the included power cable is too short, use an extension cable (≥ 22 AWG). Confirm polarities before connecting. The extension cable should not exceed 10 meters (32.8 feet).

Steps:

  1. Cut the included power cable.
  2. Strip off some insulation.
  3. Strip insulation off the extension cable and connect it to the power cable.
  4. Tape over the cutoff areas.

How to Connect RS-485 Communication Devices (Optional)

Renogy ONE Core supports Bluetooth wireless communication and wired communication via RS-485 protocol.

  • Bluetooth: No wiring required.
  • RS-485: Requires wiring to energy devices.

Recommended Components: RJ45 Ethernet Cable (CAT5 or above), Renogy Communication Hub, Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth Module.

Connections:

  • One Device: Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the RS-485 port.
  • Multiple Devices (Wired): Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the Communication Hub, then to devices.
  • Multiple Devices (Wireless): Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the BT-2 Bluetooth Module, then to devices.

ℹ️ NOTE: When using the Communication Hub with a BT-2 module, connect each device individually to the Core via the hub first, then reconnect all devices to the hub.

How to Connect to CAN Communication Devices (Optional)

This applies to RSHGWSN-W02W-G2 and later models. It enables communication with Renogy devices supporting CAN communication for safe operation, smart control, and remote monitoring.

Wiring: RV-C communication cables vary by network topology (backbone or daisy chain).

For technical support: Contact Renogy at renogy.com/contact-us/.

Connecting/Disconnecting LP16 Terminal Plug: Ensure vertical orientation towards the CAN1 Communication Port and press the snap until complete. Do not shake during the process.

Backbone Network: Requires 120Ω terminating resistors at both ends of the RV-C bus. If the RV-C bus lacks a built-in resistor, contact the RV manufacturer.

Daisy Chain Network: For RVs not integrated with RV-C buses. Connect devices in series using LP16 Plug (7-Pin) to RJ45 Communication Adapter Cables. Plug Terminator Plugs into free CAN ports on the first and last devices. Unplug the LP16 Terminator Plug from the first/last device and insert the adapter cables into other devices' communication ports. Connect the RJ45 connector to the Renogy ONE Core.

Recommended Accessories: Communication Cable (RJ45 Plug to Bare Drop Cable), Common Drop Tap, Communication Cable (LP16 Plug (7-Pin) to RJ45 Communication Adapter Cable), RJ45 Ethernet Cable.

ℹ️ NOTE: Drop cable length ≤ 19.6 ft (6 m), RV-C bus length ≤ 98.4 ft (30 m). Terminal block plug pinouts may vary by RV manufacturer.
