3. Preparation
3.1. Installation Site and Environment
For optimal RV leveling function, install the Core with the screen facing front, rear, left, or right, vertically to the RV floor. RV leveling blocks are recommended during the leveling process.
Environmental Guidelines:
- Install indoors, away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid exposure to flammable or harsh chemicals/vapors.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Ambient temperature: -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to 70°C).
- Relative humidity: 0% to 95% (non-condensing).
- Keep away from metal objects by at least 200 mm (7.9 inches) for optimal wireless communication.
3.2. Checking Renogy ONE Core
Inspect the Core for visible damage (cracks, dents, deformation). Ensure all connector contacts are clean, dry, and free of dirt/corrosion. Do not use if damaged. Do not open, dismantle, repair, or modify the device. Wear protective equipment and use insulated tools during installation. Dispose of according to local regulations.
3.3. Checking DC Power
Ensure the DC power supply is within the 8V to 32V range. Connecting to a power source outside this range can cause failure or damage. Always confirm polarities before connecting and ensure the DC power is turned off to prevent electrical shock.
3.4. Extend the Power Cable
If the included power cable is too short, use an extension cable (≥ 22 AWG). Confirm polarities of both cables before connecting. The extension cable should not exceed 10 meters (32.8 feet).
Steps:
- Cut the included power cable.
- Strip off some insulation.
- Strip insulation off the extension cable and connect it to the power cable.
- Tape over the cutoff areas.
3.5. How to Connect RS-485 Communication Devices (Optional)
Renogy ONE Core communicates via Bluetooth wireless or RS-485 wired protocols. For RS-485, wiring is required.
Recommended Components: RJ45 Ethernet Cable (CAT5 or above), Renogy Communication Hub (for multiple RS-485 devices), Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth Module.
Connection Examples:
- One Device: Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the RS-485 port.
- Multiple Devices (Wired): Connect multiple devices via RJ45 Ethernet Cables.
- Multiple Devices (Wireless): Connect via RJ45 Ethernet Cable using the Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth Module.
When using a Communication Hub with a BT-2 module, connect each device to the Core individually through the hub first, then reconnect all devices to the hub.
3.6. How to Connect to CAN Communication Devices (Optional)
This applies to RSHGWSN-W02W-G2 models and later. It enables communication with Renogy devices supporting CAN communication for safe operation, smart control, and remote monitoring. RV-C communication cable wiring varies by topology (backbone or daisy chain).
Connection/Disconnection: Ensure the LP16 Terminal Plug is oriented vertically towards the CAN1 Communication Port. Press and hold the snap until complete. Do not shake while plugging/unplugging.
Backbone Network: Requires 120Ω terminating resistors at both ends of the RV-C bus. If the RV-C bus lacks a built-in resistor, use the Daisy Chain Network.
Recommended Accessories: Communication Cable (RJ45 Plug to Bare Drop Cable), Common Drop Tap.
Guidelines: Drop cable ≤ 19.6 ft (6 m), RV-C bus ≤ 98.4 ft (30 m). Terminal block plug pinouts may vary by RV manufacturer.
Connection Steps (RV-C Bus):
- Locate the drop tap closest to the installation location.
- Replace the terminated drop tap with a Common Drop Tap (not included) and secure wires to the terminal block plug.
- Connect the RJ45 connector to the Renogy ONE Core's RJ45 communication port.
Daisy Chain Network (for RVs without RV-C buses):
- Connect devices in series using LP16 Plug (7-Pin) to RJ45 Communication Adapter Cables (sold separately).
- Plug Terminator Plugs (sold separately) into free CAN Communication Ports on the first and last devices.
- Unplug the LP16 Terminator Plug from the first/last device and insert the adapter cables into communication ports of other Renogy devices.
- Connect the RJ45 connector to the Renogy ONE Core's RJ45 port.
4. Installation
The Renogy ONE Core can be placed on a table or mounted on a wall.
4.1. Place Renogy ONE Core on a Table
The package box can be used as a bracket. Note: The RV leveling function is unavailable when the Core is placed on a table.
Connection: Connect the power via the included Power Cable or an optional Type-C cable (5V DC). Connect communication cables to devices (CAN or RS-485).
4.2. Mount Renogy ONE Core on a Wall
Use the provided mounting templates (or draw your own based on dimensions) for drilling holes. Two templates are provided: one for an impact drill with a hole saw (2.17 in / 55 mm) and another for a skill saw.
Mounting Steps:
- Prepare the mounting location using the template.
