Printer Usage Flow

The general workflow for using the printer is as follows:

  1. Step 1: Connect the adapter and power on the printer.
  2. Step 2: Adjust the paper guide and insert the paper.
  3. Step 3: Connect the USB cable to the PC.
  4. Step 4.1: Download the APP on your smartphone.
  5. Step 4.2: Add extensions on your Chromebook.
  6. Step 4.3: Install the driver for Windows or Mac.
  7. Step 4.4: Add Bluetooth for Windows.
  8. Step 5: Print labels.
  9. Step 6: Remove the driver when necessary.

  3. Connect the power adapter to the printer's power port.
  4. Plug the power cord into a wall socket.
  5. Connect the USB cable to the printer.
  6. Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer.

4. The Suitable Label Size

The JADENS printer is compatible with any Thermal Direct Label with a width range from 1.57" to 4.1" (40-108mm) and length over 0.79" (20mm). An ideal size is 4"x6".

5. How to Feed Label

  1. Ensure the printer is off.
  2. Pull the release latch to open the cover. [Diagram: Opening the printer cover]
  3. Load the label and adjust the paper guide to fit the width of the paper. The label you peel off should be facing up (towards the ceiling). [Diagram: Loading label and adjusting guide]
  4. Carefully close the cover. [Diagram: Closing the printer cover]
  5. Turn the power on.
  6. The label will be automatically positioned at the tear-off point. Jadens is ready to print.

Tips: Anytime you change your label, run the automatic label identification by pressing and holding the feed button until you hear one beep.

The label holder is sold separately in the JADENS store.

6. Installation for Windows

Note: It is recommended to close security software before installation to prevent interference. You can re-enable it after installation.

Step 1: Install the driver

a. Connect power and computer (skip if already done).

b. Install the driver:

c. After setup, check if the printer is installed: Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & scanners' > 'JD-468BT' > 'Manage' to print a test page. Successful printing indicates the setup is complete.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver. Repeated installations may create duplicate printer entries (e.g., 'JD-468BT (copy 1, 2...)').

Step 2: Add the Bluetooth of Printer

a. Keep the printer and computer connected via USB. Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Bluetooth & other devices' > 'Add Bluetooth or other device'.

Step 3: Match the COM port

a. Click 'Bluetooth & other devices' > 'More Bluetooth options' > 'COM Ports'. Identify the 'OUTGOING' COM port for 'JD-468BT_XXXX' (where XXXX are suffixes that may vary) and note the COM number (e.g., COM3).

b. Change the printer's port to match the identified Bluetooth COM port. Go to 'Printer & Scanners' > find 'JD-468BT' > 'Manage' > 'Printer properties' > 'Ports'. Select the COM port that matches your Bluetooth port (e.g., COM3) and click 'OK'.

c. You can now unplug the USB cable. Open a PDF file (Adobe Reader recommended) and select 'JD-468BT' as the printer. Adjust settings like darkness, speed, and size in printer preferences before clicking 'Print' via Bluetooth.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then install the driver again.

7. Installation for Mac

The JADENS printer is compatible with macOS V 10.9 or later.

Installation guide video is available on the U-disk for better reference.

a. Connect the printer power and computer.

b. Copy the driver file ('Label Printer Driver.pkg') to your desktop and install it. You can also download the driver from the JADENS website.

c. If you see a security warning about the developer, click 'OK', then open 'System Preferences' > 'Security & Privacy'.

d. Click the 'Open Anyway' button, then click 'Open' to continue the installation.

e. Follow the on-screen installation steps until you see the 'The installation was successful' window.

f. Open 'System Preferences' and click 'Printers & Scanners'.

g. Click the '+' button to add a new printer.

h. Select 'JADENS JD-468BT' from the list and click 'Add'.

i. The printer is now installed. You can adjust printing density, speed, or other parameters by referring to Section 9, 'Printer preference setting'.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and reinstall the driver.

8. Installation for Chromebook

Follow these steps to set up the printer on a Chromebook:

a. Search for 'Shipping Printer' in the Chrome web store and add it as an extension.

b. Click the 'Extensions' icon and select 'Shipping Printer'.

c. Click the 'Connection' icon, choose 'Printer', and then click 'Connect'.

d. Open a file using the Chrome browser, select 'Shipping Printer', and click 'Print'. The file will print via the Jadens printer, indicating successful setup.

9. Printer Preference Setting

9.1. Printer preference setting for Windows

Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & scanners'. Find your printer 'JD-468BT', click 'Manage', then 'Printer Preference'. Here you can set the print size, speed, and density.

(1) Setting the paper quality

a. Go to 'Page Setup'. Choose the appropriate page size based on your label size. Most shipping labels are 4"x6".

b. In the 'Parameters' section, you can adjust printing speed and darkness. For light or unclear labels, increase the density. For Windows, set density between 8-12. For Mac, set density between 2-5.

(2) Print a sample file

a. Open a PDF file with Adobe Reader and click 'print'. Ensure 'JD-468BT' is selected as the printer. (For Word files, convert to PDF for best quality.)

b. Go to 'Properties' to set page size, printing speed, and printing density.

Note: Before printing, ensure the loaded label size matches the printer settings.

a. Open a sample PDF file and click print.

11. Important Tips: Print label of multiple size using 'Take a snap shot'

The 'Take a snap shot' function helps resolve most printing issues by allowing you to print specific areas of a document.

For Windows:

a. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader.

b. From the top panel, select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Click and drag to select the desired print area.

c. Click 'Print' and set the page size to match the loaded labels before printing.

Note: Ensure the page size matches the label size to prevent misaligned prints.

For MAC:

a. Find 'File' > 'Open' > 'Desktop' and choose your PDF file (or open directly with Adobe).

c. Select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Click and drag over the specific label range you wish to print.

Barcode Printing Tip: To ensure barcodes scan correctly, print them vertically. Printing horizontally may cause the barcode to block due to high temperatures.

For Windows: Open the driver installer again and follow the uninstall steps.

17. Safety Tips

18. Maintenance: Cleaning the Print Head

The printer head is a sensitive part located on the upper part of the printer when open.

Caution: While the printer is running, the printer head can be very hot.

  1. Ensure the power switch is OFF, remove the power cord, and open the cover. Wait several moments for the printer head to cool down.
  2. Clean the printer head using an alcohol swab (70% Isopropyl Alcohol pad is recommended). Do not use water.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes for the alcohol to dry completely, then close the cover.
  4. Connect the power cord and print a test page to check if the cleaning was successful.
