Installation Steps
Step 1: Base Assembly
Assemble the base structure of the sauna. This involves joining base components using screws (M), water level for alignment, and potentially a drill. Ensure measurements like "inch=inch" are maintained for squareness.
Diagram shows two halves of the base being joined, with screws and alignment checks.
Step 2: Floorboard Attachment
Attach the floorboards to the base. Use DET 3/H and DET 3 components. Fasten screws (M) diagonally in every board, using a rubber mallet for adjustments. A specific screw pattern is indicated.
Diagrams show top and side views of floorboards being attached, highlighting the use of DET 3/H with slots and the screw pattern. Rubber mallet is shown for tapping.
Step 3: Front Glass-Wall Assembly
Assemble the front glass wall. This involves attaching panels like DET Sa, Sb, Ta, and Tb. Pay close attention to markings and ensure the backside is up. Use components like DET V, J, and U1 for assembly. Exercise caution to avoid hitting the glass.
Diagrams illustrate the assembly of the front glass wall, showing panel connections, orientation, and the use of specific hardware. Close-ups highlight alignment and care instructions for the glass.
Step 4: Wooden Back Wall Assembly
Assemble the wooden back wall using DET Y1, Y2, and U2. Pre-drill holes before inserting screws (H) with a drill.
Diagrams show the back wall panels being joined and secured with screws after pre-drilling.
Step 5: Positioning Wall Panels
Position the assembled wall panels. Use DET U1 inside the structure. Ensure the marking on the wall is centered in the notch. Use a water level for accurate placement and secure with screws (H).
Diagrams show individuals positioning wall panels, using a water level, and securing them with screws. A close-up shows the marking alignment in a notch.
Step 6: Attaching More Wall Panels
Continue attaching wall panels using DET 3 and DET U2. Temporarily fix DET 3 to support the walls. Use a water level and ensure markings are centered in notches, securing with screws (H).
Diagrams show the sauna structure with more panels being added, emphasizing the temporary support role of DET 3 and the use of water level and screws.
Step 7: Securing Outer Bands
Remove temporary DET 3 components. Secure the outer bands (DET A2) using screws (H). Use a rubber mallet for adjustments. It is crucial to leave a 1/4" gap when tightening screws to allow for adjustment when the outer bands are installed.
Diagrams show the sauna structure with outer bands being attached. Close-ups highlight the gap to be left and the use of a rubber mallet. An important note about the gap is emphasized.
Step 8: Joining Boards for Gap
Join boards (DET 3) together to bridge any gaps, such as the "A" gap. The combined boards should be approximately 1/4" wider than the gap. Trim the edge of the board if necessary. Use DET 6/6c for this process.
Diagrams show boards being joined, a tool (DET 6/6c) for trimming, and the resulting combined board being fitted.
Step 9: Attaching Outer Bands (DET A2)
Attach the outer bands (DET A2) using DET A1 and hardware components (C, D, E). Initially, do not fix the nuts too tightly. Use a ratchet strap to hold components in place during this stage, paying attention to measurements.
Diagrams show the outer bands being attached with straps, nuts, and bolts. Instructions indicate not to tighten fully yet.
Step 10: Final Tightening of Outer Bands
Once the outer bands are correctly positioned, fix all nuts tightly and remove the ratchet strap. Ensure all connections are secure.
Diagrams show the final tightening of nuts and bolts for the outer bands, followed by the removal of the ratchet strap.
Step 11: Interior Assembly
Install interior components, including vents (DET G, DET F) and benches/shelves. Remove any temporary braces. Use screws (K) to attach the vents. The interior structure, including benches and shelving, is shown.
Diagrams show the interior of the sauna with vents being installed and the bench/shelf structure in place.
Step 12: Installing Interior Components
Install additional interior components like shelves and benches using parts such as DET 10a, 10c, 10, 10b, 12, 12a, and 14. Use a water level and pre-drilled holes for accurate placement. Secure with screws (H, M).
Diagrams illustrate the installation of various interior elements, including shelves and benches, with specific part references and screw locations.
Step 13: Door Installation
Install the door panel (DET 21) and its frame. Ensure the door opens outwards. If the handle needs to be on the opposite side, rotate the door 180 degrees. Use components DET 21c, 21d, 21a, 21b. Use a water level and pre-drill holes. Secure with screws (M, H, J). Ensure the door frame is pressed tightly against the wall and fastened from the inside.
Diagrams show the door assembly and installation process, including hinge attachment, frame fitting, and screw placement. Instructions on door opening direction and handle placement are included.
Step 14: Installing Steps/Benches
Install the steps or benches using DET 16 and DET 15. Be careful not to hit the glass with screws. Leave a small gap (~0.2") from the board end to the barrel staves. Pre-drill holes for screws (I, H).
Diagrams illustrate the installation of the steps/benches, showing screw angles, pre-drilling, and the required gap. Cautionary notes about glass are present.
Step 15: Attaching Outer Panels
Attach the outer panels using DET 22 and screws (H). Ensure approximate measurements are followed.
Diagrams show the sauna structure with outer panels being attached, indicating screw locations and an approximate measurement.
Step 16: Underlay Felt Installation
Install the underlay felt for the roof. Refer to the separate underlay installation manual. Remove the bottom film first, then cut and remove the top film. Turn the end to the edge, clamp it, and ensure approximately 2" overlap over the edge. Cut off any excess parts.
Diagrams illustrate the process of applying the underlay felt to the sauna roof, showing film removal, cutting, clamping, and edge overlap.
Step 17: Shingle Installation
Install the shingles (DET N, DET O) on the roof. Refer to the shingle installation manual. Cut and use the shingles on opposite sides as needed. Refract DET N into three pieces. Ensure shingles overlap correctly.
Diagrams show the shingle installation process, including cutting, placement, and overlap. References to external shingle installation manuals are noted.
Step 18: Final Attachment
Complete the assembly by attaching the final components, such as DET 25a and 25b, to the exterior using screws (H). Ensure all parts are securely fastened.
Diagrams show the final exterior view of the sauna with the last components being attached.
