Hilti HST2 V3 Timber M12 Anchor
Installation and Setting Guide
General Information
This document provides instructions for the through-setting and pre-setting of the Hilti HST2 V3 Timber M12 anchor in timber base materials. This anchor is designed for secure fastening applications in wood construction.
Brand: Hilti
Product Model: HST2 V3 Timber M12
Document Reference: 2464392-2025.08.06
Installation Steps
Step 1: Hole Preparation
Drilling the Anchor Hole:
Drill a hole in the timber base material using a drill bit with a diameter d₀ = 12 mm. Ensure the hole is drilled perpendicular (90°) to the surface.
The required hole depth (h₁) is determined by the thickness of the material being fastened (t_fix) and the anchor's nominal embedment depth into the base material (h_nom). The formula for the total hole depth is: h₁ = h_nom + t_fix.
Observe minimum edge distance (c_min) and spacing distance (s_min) requirements as indicated in the diagrams for optimal performance and to prevent material splitting.
Step 2: Anchor Insertion
Insert the Hilti HST2 V3 Timber M12 anchor into the prepared hole. Ensure the anchor is fully seated and aligned correctly.
Step 3: Anchor Setting
Set the anchor using an appropriate setting tool. For the HST2 V3 Timber M12, the recommended installation torque (T_inst) is 40 Nm.
The setting process may involve specific tools like the HS-SC (shown in diagrams) and potentially impact or rotation depending on the anchor type and setting method.
Step 4: Clearance Verification
Ensure that the minimum clearance requirement is met: h_min - h₁ ≥ 32 mm. This refers to the distance from the anchor head to the edge of the timber or another anchor to maintain structural integrity.
Step 5: Final Check
After setting, the anchor should project approximately 19 mm from the surface of the timber.
Anchor Specifications Table
The following table lists various Hilti HST2 V3 M12 timber anchor models with their respective lengths (L), maximum fastening thicknesses (t_fix max), and nominal embedment depths (h_nom) into the timber base material.

Tools and Equipment
The installation may require specific Hilti tools, including but not limited to:
- Drilling tools: DD EC-1, DD 30-W, DD 150-U (for drilling holes)
- Setting tool: HS-SC (for setting the anchor)
- Torque wrench (for applying 40 Nm)
Ensure the correct drill bit diameter (d₀ = 12 mm) is used for the anchor hole.
The diagrams also show references to 8mm, 20mm, and 10mm drill bits or measurements. These may relate to specific hole cleaning procedures or timber thicknesses not fully detailed here, but the primary anchor hole diameter is consistently 12 mm.
Important Notes
- Always follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure the timber base material is suitable for the anchor's load-bearing capacity.
- Refer to Hilti technical documentation for detailed load values and application-specific guidance.
- Visual inspection ?️ is recommended at each stage of installation.
- Pay attention to warning symbols ⚠️ or exclamation marks ❗ for critical information.
