Please read this manual to understand the performance, features, safety precautions, and maintenance needs of this product. Safety Precautions
General Safety:
- Understand and adhere to safety warnings to minimize risk.
- Observe all national and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Be vigilant while riding and maintain a safe distance from others and vehicles.
- Operate the electric bicycle according to the instructions.
- Do not use for professional off-road riding.
- Practice riding in a traffic-free area before riding on public roads.
- Perform a pre-ride check for loose parts or damaged components. Stop immediately if abnormal sounds occur.
- Do not exceed the speed limit. Avoid riding where motor vehicles are present.
- Users under 16 years of age are strictly prohibited from using this product.
- Do not use under the influence of alcohol or drugs, if you have medical conditions preventing physical activity, if you have balance issues, if your weight exceeds the limit, or if pregnant.
- Exercise caution in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, slippery roads, ice).
- Do not charge the product with a wet charger or power adapter.
- Use only officially designated parts for protection and ease of use.
- Consult the after-sales team for modifications and follow local regulations. The manufacturer is not responsible for injuries or damage from unauthorized modifications.

Functions
Display and Controls:
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the button (or `▶️`) for 3 seconds.
- Power Adjustment: Use and buttons to adjust power level (1-5).
- Boost Mode: Press the button (or `?`) for 6 km/h assist. Release to stop.
- Light Switch: Press and hold the button (or `?`) to turn lights on/off.
- Headlight/Taillight Mode: Short press the button to switch between high/low beam.
- Settings Mode: Press and hold the and buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to enter settings. Use and to adjust values.
- Error Codes: The display will show error codes if system malfunctions occur. Refer to section 3.3 for definitions.
Assembly Instructions
General: Two people are recommended for assembly/disassembly. Ensure the system is powered off before installation.
Unpacking: Follow the numbered steps to carefully unpack the bicycle from its box.
Handlebar Installation: Attach the handlebar stem, ensuring it is centered and perpendicular to the frame's top tube. Use M5 screws.
Front Fender & Reflector: Attach the front fender and reflector using M4 screws.
Wheel Installation: Install the front wheel using the provided tools (wrench size 15) and M6 screws.
Seat Installation & Adjustment: Attach the seatpost and saddle. Ensure the white safety line is not visible. Adjust seat height and angle.
Kickstand Installation: Attach the kickstand. Warning: Do not sit on the bike or load it with more than 25 kg when the kickstand is down.
Pedal Installation: Attach the left (L) and right (R) pedals to the crank arms. Use the 15mm wrench. Ensure correct threading (L usually counter-clockwise, R clockwise).
Congratulations! Your bicycle is successfully assembled.
Operation
Battery Removal: Unlock the battery compartment and slide out the battery. For app connection, remove and reinsert the battery after 10 seconds.
Battery Charging:
- Two Charging Modes: Direct charging on the frame or removing the battery.
- Connect the charger to the battery port and then to the wall socket.
- Charging indicator: Red means charging, green means fully charged.
- Charging time: Approximately 1.5-2 hours.
- Important: Fully charge the battery before first use.
- Warning: Do not charge in direct sunlight. Do not charge if the charger or power adapter is wet. Keep charging area safe, well-ventilated, and away from flammable materials.
Quick Operation:
- Step 1: Handlebar & Seat Adjustment: Adjust height for comfort and safety. Ensure quick-release levers are locked.
- Step 2: Power On & Lights: Press and hold the button (or `▶️`) for 3 seconds. Check battery level. Adjust headlights/taillights.
- Step 3: Gear Adjustment: Use and buttons to select gears (1-5). Gear 1 is for flat roads; higher gears for inclines. PAS 0 means no electric assist.
- Step 4: Braking: Left lever for front brake, right lever for rear brake. Use the rear brake first, then the front for a controlled stop. Warning: Avoid sudden front brake use to prevent loss of balance.
Settings and App Connection:
- Access settings by pressing and holding specific buttons (e.g., + for 5 seconds).
- Customize settings like screen brightness, units (km/mile), sleep time, and trip reset.
- Download the "Engwe" app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Register, log in, and connect your bike via Bluetooth/IoT.
Maintenance and Safety
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Regularly check tire pressure.
- Inspect and adjust handlebars, seatpost, axles, chain, wheels, etc., to ensure they are in good working condition. Tighten loose nuts and bolts.
- Lubricate parts like bearings and chain as recommended.
- Replace worn parts (brake pads, tires) with equivalent specifications.
Motor Maintenance:
- Keep the motor clean and protected from foreign objects, corrosive liquids, and gases.
- The motor is IPX5 waterproof. Do not use high-pressure water jets or immerse in water.
Battery Maintenance:
- Charge the battery promptly and avoid storing it uncharged for long periods.
- Charge for 6-8 hours for the first use, but not more than 12 hours.
- If the bike is unused for a long time, charge the battery monthly. Low battery voltage can cause damage.
- DANGER: Do not disassemble old batteries. Return them to authorized collection points.
- WARNING: Keep batteries away from fire and high temperatures. Do not dispose of in fire. Protect from sun in hot weather.
Riding Safety:
- Obey traffic laws.
- Wear a helmet and protective gear.
- Accelerate slowly to maintain control.
- Increase braking distance in wet/icy conditions. Avoid riding in heavy rain.
- Shift to a lower gear before stopping for the next ride.
- Wear bright, loose-fitting clothing. Avoid cuffs that are too large. Do not wear high heels; wear athletic shoes.
Parking Safety:
- Turn off the power when pushing the bike.
- Use assist mode for uphill rides or heavy loads.
- Park on a level surface and turn off the power.
- Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
- Bike Not Working: Check battery level, electrical connections, and startup sequence. Charge battery, clean/tighten connectors.
- Insufficient Range: Check tire pressure, avoid strong headwinds, frequent braking, or overloading. Contact Engwe support if issues persist.
- Battery Not Charging: Check charger connection, charger itself, or battery storage history. Reconnect charger, replace charger, or contact support.
- Motor Not Working: Check motor cable, sensor, or throttle. Reconnect cable, replace throttle, or contact support.
- Abnormal Acceleration / Low Speed: Check throttle, battery level. Reconnect throttle, ensure battery is fully charged.
Error Codes: The bike's system detects faults and displays error codes on the meter. Stop use immediately and contact Engwe support if an error code appears.

Warranty and Service
Warranty Terms:
- Parts are covered according to the specified warranty period, starting from the purchase date.
- Unauthorized disassembly of charger, battery, or motor voids the warranty.
- Other parts have a warranty, except for quality issues within three months.
- For other accessory failures, seek professional repair. Do not disassemble privately. Ensure all markings on controllers, batteries, and chargers are complete.
- Present warranty cards, invoices, and certificates for repairs.
- Battery warranty is handled on a one-to-one basis. Return the battery to the manufacturer for testing to determine warranty coverage.
