1.3 Functions - Display Controls
The display unit allows for control and monitoring of the bicycle's functions:
- Power Button (#): Short press for 1 second to turn on, long press for 3 seconds to turn off.
- Assist Level Adjustment (+/-): Use the '+' and '-' buttons to change the pedal assist level.
- Walk Assist Mode: Press and hold the '-' button. The bicycle will move at 6 km/h, indicated by a walk assist icon [?]. Release the button to exit.
- Headlight Switch (*): The display has an automatic light sensor. Manually toggle the headlight by briefly pressing the '*' button. When the headlight is on, display brightness may decrease. Press '*' again to turn it off and restore normal brightness.
- Pedal Data Display: After powering on, default data is shown. Briefly press '#' to cycle through other data (e.g., odometer, trip distance) and return to the main screen.

2. Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your bicycle for its first ride.
2.1.1 Control Area Installation
- Loosen the M5 screw on the stem.
- Adjust the handlebar to your desired height.
- Tighten the M6 screw to secure the handlebar.
- Ensure all screws are properly tightened before riding.
2.1.2 Front Fender and Headlight Installation
- Attach the front fender using M4 and M5 screws.
- Mount the front headlight.
2.1.3 Wheel Installation
- Remove the quick release lever.
- Insert the wheel into the fork dropouts.
- Re-insert the quick release lever and tighten securely.
2.1.4 Saddle and Seatpost Adjustment
- Insert the seatpost into the frame.
- Adjust the saddle height for comfortable riding.
- Secure the seatpost using the quick-release lever.
- Adjust saddle fore/aft position and tilt angle as needed.
2.1.5 Kickstand Installation
- Attach the kickstand to the designated mounting point on the frame using the M6 bolts.
- Ensure the kickstand is securely fastened.
2.1.6 Pedal and Solar Rear Light Installation
- Thread the pedals into the crank arms (Left pedal marked 'L', Right pedal marked 'R'). Tighten securely.
- Remove the protective tab from the solar rear light to activate it.
2.1.7 Assembly Complete

2.2 Battery Removal
To remove the battery, unlock the battery compartment and slide the battery out of its housing.
2.3 Charging the Battery
There are two charging methods:
- Directly on the frame: Insert the charger connector into the battery's charging port and plug the charger into a power outlet.
- With the battery removed: Remove the battery from the frame. Connect the charger to the battery and then to the power outlet.
Charging Indicator: A red light indicates charging is in progress; a green light indicates the battery is fully charged. Ensure the battery's dust cap is closed after charging.
Note: Use only the provided charger. Do not use the bicycle while charging. Ensure the battery is securely fixed in the frame when charging on the bike.
2.4 Quick Operation
Before riding, ensure components are correctly installed, the battery is charged, and safety measures are taken.
- Adjust Handlebar and Seatpost: Set to a comfortable riding height. Ensure quick-release levers and handlebar screws are tight.
- Turn On Display and Adjust Headlight: Press the power button to turn on the bicycle. Use the '+' button to turn on the headlight. Press again to turn it off.
- Adjust Pedal Assist Level: Use '+' and '-' buttons to select the desired assist level (1-5). Level 1 offers minimal assistance, while Level 5 offers maximum assistance.
- Braking Instructions: The left lever controls the front brake; the right lever controls the rear brake. Apply the rear brake first, then the front brake, for gradual stopping. Warning: Avoid sudden application of the front brake alone, as it can cause loss of balance. Maximum load is 120 kg.

Access settings by pressing and holding '+' and '-' buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds.
- Select Setting: Use '+' or '-' to navigate options.

- Motor Maintenance: The motor is sealed and requires no lubrication. Avoid submerging the motor in water. If the motor makes unusual noises, contact Engwe support.
- Battery Maintenance: Charge the battery regularly, even during storage. Avoid extreme temperatures. Do not disassemble or modify the battery. For optimal lifespan, charge when the battery level drops to around 20-30% and avoid fully discharging it. Charge within 12 hours after purchase.
3.2 Maintenance and Self-Check

- Tires: Check for wear and tear, and maintain proper inflation pressure (refer to tire sidewall).
- Brakes: Ensure brake pads are not worn and brakes are functioning correctly. Adjust if necessary.
