- The e-bike must be operated according to the guidelines in this manual. The user is responsible for any losses resulting from non-compliance with the manual's guidelines.
- This product is not designed for professional off-road riding. Please do not use it as an off-road bike.
- For your first ride, choose a private area without traffic. Once you are familiar with the product, you can ride on public roads.
- Before each ride, please thoroughly check for loose screws or damaged parts. If this product makes abnormal noises, please stop immediately and seek assistance from official customer service.
- Avoid exceeding the speed limit. Never ride in areas with motor vehicles, regardless of the circumstances.
- For safety reasons, the use of this product is strictly prohibited for:
- Persons under 16 years of age.
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Persons who cannot participate in strenuous physical activities due to illness.
- Persons who cannot maintain balance or have difficulty with balance due to underdeveloped motor skills.

General Functions:
- On/Off: Press and hold the [Power Button] for 3 seconds to turn on or off.
- Assist Level Adjustment: Press the [Up Button] and [Down Button] to adjust the assist level, ranging from 1 to 5.
- Boost Mode: Press the [Boost Button] to activate Boost Mode at 6 km/h. The [Boost Symbol] will be displayed. Release the button to stop the assist immediately; the assist symbol will disappear.
- Light Switch: Long press the [Light Button] to turn on the light; long press again to turn off the light.
- Switch Between High and Low Beam: Short press the [Light Button] to switch between high and low beam; the corresponding symbol will appear on the screen.
- Enter Settings Mode: Press the [Settings Button 1] and [Settings Button 2] simultaneously for 5 seconds to enter Settings Mode. Click the [Up Button] to switch the content to be set, and click the [Up Button] and [Down Button] to adjust the value.
- Error Code Display: The instrument automatically displays an error code [Error Code Symbol] when there is a malfunction in the electrical control system. For detailed definitions of error codes, see Section 3.3 Error Code Descriptions.
2. Quick Start Guide
2.1 Installation Instructions
2.1.1 Installation Warning
Warning: For disassembly and installation, two people are required. Before installation, ensure the system is switched off and cannot be accidentally turned on.

2.1.2 Unpacking

2.1.6 Saddle Installation and Adjustment

This includes attaching the seat post clamp with an M5 screw, inserting the saddle into the seat post (ensuring the white safety line is covered), securing the seat post with an M5 screw, tightening the clamp with an M6 screw, and finally adjusting the saddle position forward/backward and its angle.
2.1.7 Kickstand Assembly
Diagram Description: Steps 1 and 2 show the assembly of the kickstand. It involves removing a warning label before mounting the stand and then attaching it using an M5 screw.
Warning: It is forbidden to transport people and loads on the vehicle while the kickstand is deployed!
2.1.8 Pedal Installation

This involves identifying the Left (L) and Right (R) pedals, attaching them using a 15mm wrench according to the markings and direction of rotation, and removing a component (likely a reflector or protective cover) from the wheel area.
2.1.9 Installation Complete

2.2 How to Remove the Battery
Diagram Description: Steps 1 and 2 show how to remove the battery. Step 1 involves unlocking the battery compartment. Step 2 shows the battery being removed.
To connect your bicycle to the ENGWE App, please remove and reinsert the battery to activate the bicycle.
2.3 How to Charge
Two Charging Modes:
- Mode 1: Charge the battery directly on the frame.
- Mode 2: Remove the battery for charging (see Section 2.2 for removal method).
Charging Port: Located on the frame.
Charging Time: 1.5-2 hours.
Note: The battery has a low charge from the factory. Please charge it fully before the first use.
Charging Steps:
- Start Charging: Fully insert the charger connector into the battery's charging port, then plug the charger into a power outlet.
- Status Indicator: If the charging indicator on the charger is red, charging is in progress. If it is green, the battery is fully charged.
- Charging Time: Approximately 1.5-2 hours.
- End Charging: First, unplug the charger from the power outlet, then disconnect the charger from the battery. If charging directly on the frame (Mode 1), simply close the battery's dust cover. If charging after removing the battery (Mode 2), reinsert and secure the battery into the frame, then close the dust cover.
Safety Warnings:
- Do not charge in sunny conditions!
- The charger contains a high-voltage component. Unauthorized repairs are strictly prohibited due to the risk of electric shock.
- The battery and charger must be stored in a safe, well-ventilated, and dry location, away from children and flammable, explosive, or hazardous items (such as sofas, etc.).
- Furthermore, charging should not be done outdoors to prevent accidents like short circuits and fires caused by rain or similar elements.
Warning: If you notice an unusual smell, or if the battery or charger becomes excessively hot during charging, stop the charging process immediately and contact the customer service team.
2.4 Quick Operation
Before using the product, please follow the installation guide to install the relevant components. Ensure the firmware is not loose, that the power is sufficient, and take appropriate riding safety measures.
Step 1: Adjust Handlebar and Saddle
Please adjust the handlebar and saddle to the correct riding height for the user's body size and ensure that the quick release of the seat post and the quick release of the vertical tube are fully closed.
Note: It is recommended to adjust the handlebar to a comfortable height for your riding habits and adjust the saddle to the height of your pelvis. This should not be higher than the safety marking on the seat post.
Step 2: Turn on Power and Adjust Headlight
- Turn on Battery Power: Press and hold the [Power Button] for approximately 3 seconds until the screen lights up.
- Battery Status Indicator: Remove the battery, then press the [Power Button]; if the red light is on, the battery is nearly empty.
- Headlight Adjustment: Short press the [Light Button] to switch between high and low beam; the corresponding symbol will appear on the screen.

Step 3: Adjust Riding Mode
Switch the riding mode according to road conditions and personal needs. The bicycle is equipped with 5 gears. Click the "+" and "-" buttons on the power control to change gears. Gear 1 is suitable for relatively flat roads. The steeper the road, the higher the gear can be set accordingly. Note: When the bicycle is in PAS 0 mode, no electric assistance is provided, but it can be ridden like a normal bicycle.

Step 4: Brakes
The left brake lever is for the front wheel, while the right brake lever is for the rear wheel. To brake, apply the right brake lever first, followed by the left lever, to bring the bicycle to a gradual stop.
Warning: Avoid abruptly applying only the front brake, as this can destabilize the bicycle's balance and lead to a fall.
2.5 Display Settings
If the default settings do not meet your requirements, you can follow these steps to adjust your settings:
- Access Personalization Interface: Hold down the [Settings Button 1] and [Settings Button 2] simultaneously for 5 seconds and enter the system setup password 1212.
- Switch Personalized Settings: After entering the settings mode, press the [Mode Button] to switch settings, and use the [Up Button] and [Down Button] to adjust the value.
- Save Parameters and Return to Main Screen: Hold down the [Settings Button 1] and [Settings Button 2] simultaneously for approximately 5 seconds to exit settings mode and save the data.
The descriptions for individual menu items are listed below, with frequently used functions in bold:
- P0: Restore Default Parameters: Hold the [Power Button] for 20 seconds to reset all settings to factory defaults.
- P1: Screen Brightness: 1 to 4 (4 is the brightest).
- P2: Change Unit: 0: Km, 1: Mile.
- P3: Standby Time: 0–60 minutes (default 8 minutes).
- P4: Clear Trip Meter: (A value greater than 10 clears the data).

3. Maintenance
3.1 Instructions for Use
Important Warnings
- The e-bike should not be parked in foyers, stairwells, corridors, and emergency exits.
- The e-bike should not be charged or parked in residential buildings. Keep it away from flammable materials while charging. Charging time should not exceed 12 hours.
- Water ingress into electrical parts must be strictly avoided. When cleaning, be careful not to get water on the charging port, cable connectors, and other electrical components.
- When adjusting the saddle and handlebar height, ensure the safety marking of the saddle and handlebar is not exposed.
- Please do not make any private modifications to the vehicle. For example: changing the battery configuration, altering the wiring, increasing the power of the headlight, and adding speakers, etc.
- Do not touch live parts of the bicycle with wet hands or metal ladders. For example: battery terminals, charging port, charger plugs, etc.
- Do not disassemble electrical parts without authorization, as liquids and metal shavings may enter the electrical parts.
- Do not expose the bicycle to direct sunlight or rain for extended periods to prevent aging of the parts.
- Please clean the bicycle with clean water and a neutral cleaning agent. Do not disassemble internal parts for washing, to avoid short circuits.
ATTENTION: Repairs by laypersons are strictly prohibited. In case of a malfunction, the bicycle should be repaired at a maintenance point designated by the manufacturer.
Riding Safety
Please observe national and local traffic regulations. Please pay attention to riding safety.
- It is strictly prohibited for persons under 16 years of age to ride e-bikes on roads. Do not lend e-bikes to persons who cannot operate the bicycle to avoid danger.
- Please ride on non-motorized lanes. The maximum speed should not exceed the maximum speed stipulated in local regulations.
- E-bikes should carry persons or goods in accordance with legal regulations.
- Always wear a suitable protective helmet and safety strap when riding.
- The braking distance increases in rain or snow. Please ride slower in these weather conditions; avoid riding in severe weather such as heavy rain.
- Please strictly adhere to traffic rules. Never ride after consuming alcohol. Never ride with one hand or without a hand on the handlebar.
- It is best to wear brightly colored clothing with open sleeves that allow you to move freely while riding. Please wear low-heeled shoes or sports shoes.
Important Tips for Riding
- For your safety, please adhere to traffic rules.
- Before riding, be sure to wear a protective helmet and take safety precautions.
- The bicycle should accelerate slowly when starting. If you accelerate too quickly, you may easily lose control.
- In rain and snow, the braking distance will be correspondingly longer. You must concentrate while riding and ride slowly to avoid side slips and falls.
- Please shift down the gear before stopping for the next ride.
Pre-ride Checks
- Turn on the device and check if all indicator lights on the screen are illuminated and if the battery power is sufficient.
- Check if the headlight and taillight function properly and if the headlight's angle is correct.
- Check if the e-bike's bell is in good condition.
- Check if the handlebar and seat post are properly adjusted. Check if the locking screws (or quick releases) are securely tightened.
- Check if the brakes function properly, if the brake lever can be flexibly returned, and if the taillight lights up when braking.
- Check if the tire pressure is adequate, if there are any cracks or unusual wear, and if nails, stones, glass, and other sharp objects are embedded.
- Check if the wheel bolts are locked. Check if the pedals and reflectors are not lost, broken, or dirty.
Important Tips for Pushing and Parking
- The power switch should be turned off when pushing the bicycle to avoid accidents caused by accidental throttle rotation while pushing.
- When pushing the bicycle uphill or carrying heavy loads on the bicycle, you can activate the assist mode.
- When parking, deploy the bicycle stand on a level surface and turn off the power.
- Please maintain and clean the bicycle regularly to keep it in the best condition.
3.2 Maintenance and Self-Inspection
Vehicle Maintenance and Self-Inspection
- The e-bike was adjusted before leaving the factory. If in doubt, please contact the manufacturer or supplier.
- Regularly check tire pressure to maintain it within the normal pressure range.
- Main components such as the handlebar, folding mechanism, saddle, seat post, top tube, down tube, seat tube, chainring, chain, front wheel, and rear wheel should be regularly inspected and adjusted to ensure proper function. If screws are loose, tighten them promptly.
- It is recommended to lubricate the bearings of the axles and the fork every six months with #3 calcium-based grease. Lubricate the chain, derailleur, and kickstand every two months with #30 motor oil.
- If wear parts such as brake pads, chain, and tires are damaged, please seek a local maintenance point for replacement. Replace them with parts of the same type and specification.
Motor Maintenance
- The motor housing and end cap are sealed. Please do not open the motor.
- Keep the motor clean. Ensure no foreign objects, corrosive liquids, or gases enter the motor. Do not strike the motor housing to avoid motor damage.
- The motor is IPX5 waterproof. Do not clean the motor with a high-pressure washer or immerse it in water. If water level reaches the middle of the motor hub, it may cause a short circuit of the bicycle and damage the electrical components.
Battery Maintenance
- Lithium batteries are characterized by large capacity, long lifespan, and light weight. Their lifespan depends on your usage habits. Please charge the battery regularly and promptly. Do not store the battery for extended periods.
- The battery must be fully charged on the first charge. It is recommended that each charging time is 6-8 hours. The longest charging time should not exceed 12 hours.
- For long-term non-use, the lithium battery must be charged for more than two hours per month. It is strictly forbidden to store the battery in an under-voltage state; once the battery reaches an under-voltage state, it will cause great and irreversible damage to the battery.
DANGER: Do not disassemble the old battery without authorization; recycle it at the designated location or at the specified maintenance point.
WARNING: Batteries should not be stored near open flames or heat sources. Batteries must not be thrown into fire. Batteries must not be exposed to direct sunlight at high temperatures.
3.3 Methods for Troubleshooting and Repair

Error Codes
The electrically assisted bicycles from Engwe are equipped with a fault system that allows the meter to display error codes when a fault occurs in the electrical system. Below are the most common error codes to help you troubleshoot. If an error code appears, stop operation immediately and contact Engwe's After-Sales Team.

4. Service Manual
4.1 Customer Service and Warranty Coverage
Warranty Principles
- Parts are warranted strictly according to the warranty period.
- The warranty period begins on the purchase date.
- Private disassembly of the charger, battery, or motor will void the warranty.
- For other parts of the entire vehicle, there is no warranty, except for three months due to quality issues.
- If other accessory parts of the entire vehicle fail, maintenance must be carried out at a professional repair point and must not be privately disassembled. Control units, batteries, and chargers must ensure all labels are intact.
- When the entire vehicle is repaired, warranty cards, invoices, conformity certificates, and other relevant documents must be presented.
- Battery warranty is handled on a one-to-one basis. For battery problems, you must first return the battery to the manufacturer according to battery testing standards to determine if it falls under warranty, and then claim the warranty.
