Installation Instructions
- Remove the rear bumper. This involves releasing three plastic fixings along the lower edge, two bolts inside the boot behind the trim, four nuts inside along the rear panel, two fixings in each lower mudguard, one upper tip bolt, and one side bolt behind each mudguard.
- Cut a small section from the lower edge of the bumper, centrally 65mm wide x 100mm deep. Trim the bumper cut to suit the socket plate.
- At the rearmost mounting, temporarily lower the exhaust silencers.
- Locate Item D (Spacer Bush) and Item G (M12 x 130 Bolt) with Item J (12 x 40 Flat Washer) under each bolt head. Insert these into existing holes in the chassis. NOTE: the bolts should locate into the slots provided. Loosely bolt Item C (Handed Side Arm) to these bolts.
- Using Item F (M12 x 35 Bolt) loosely bolt Item A (Crossmember) to Item C (Handed Side Arms).
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the towbar is rigid and secure.
- Replace rear bumper.
- Using Item H (M12 x 85 Bolt) with Item K (12 x 25 Flat Washer) bolt Item B (Extension Bar) to Item A (Crossmember).
- Using Item E (M16 Bolt) bolt the ball bracket (not supplied in this kit) to the mounting plate.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the assembly of the Tow-Trust towbar components onto the vehicle chassis. It shows the Crossmember (A) and Extension Bar (B) connecting to Handed Side Arms (C). The Side Arms (C) are attached to the vehicle chassis using M12 x 130 Bolts (G) and Spacer Bushes (D), secured with 12 x 40 Flat Washers (J) under the bolt heads, utilizing two existing holes in the chassis. The Crossmember (A) is fastened to the Side Arms (C) with M12 x 35 Bolts (F). The Extension Bar (B) is attached to the Crossmember (A) using M12 x 85 Grade 10.9 Bolts (H) and 12 x 25 Flat Washers (K). The Socket Plate (L) is also shown, ready for mounting. The diagram indicates the approximate dimensions for the bumper cut-out (65mm wide x 100mm deep) and the location of existing chassis mounting points.
Notes
1. Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9: 130 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
2. Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
