Important Notes
- Place the NAS device on a stable surface in a stable temperature and low humidity environment. Avoid direct sunlight and liquids.
- Disconnect power during thunderstorms or voltage fluctuations.
- Keep away from heat sources and humid environments.
- Do not insert foreign objects into the NAS.
- Clean with a damp cloth; avoid chemicals or spray cleaners.
- Do not drop, crush, or throw the device.
- Keep out of reach of children due to small parts.
- Do not disassemble or repair the device yourself. Contact UGREEN NAS customer service for repairs.
III. Hardware Setup
Before Setup
- Ensure the NAS device is powered off and disconnected from the power source before installing or removing hardware to prevent data loss or damage.
Prepare Tools
- Provided Screwdriver
- Provided Screws
- At least one 3.5" or 2.5" SATA Hard Drive
Note:
- It is recommended to use new hard drives. Formatting a drive will erase all existing data. Back up important data before installation.
- For RAID configurations, using drives of the same capacity is recommended for optimal storage utilization and reduced risk of data loss.
Removing the Hard Drive Bay
- Remove the top cover.
- Gently press the latch at the end of the hard drive bay and pull it out.
Installing a 3.5" Hard Drive
- Place the hard drive onto the bay, aligning screw holes. Metal connectors should face down.
- Secure the hard drive with screws.
- Reinsert the hard drive bay and replace the top cover.
Installing a 2.5" Hard Drive
- Turn the bay over and align the four empty screw holes on the bottom of the 2.5" drive with the screw holes on the bay.
- Secure the hard drive with screws.
- Reinsert the hard drive bay and replace the top cover.
Starting the NAS
- Connect the NAS to your router or switch using an Ethernet cable.
- Connect the power adapter and plug it into the power outlet.
- Press the power button to turn on the device. Press and hold for about 5 seconds to turn it off.
Note: For efficient data transfer, use a router or switch with 10-Gigabit LAN ports or higher and the provided Ethernet cable.
After powering on, download "UGREEN NAS" and navigate to "Control Panel" > "Hardware & Power" to enable auto-start after power loss.
Warning: Use only the original power adapter or a certified adapter that meets the device's power specifications.
Firmware Update
- Update firmware only with a stable power supply. Do not disconnect power during the update.
III. Software Installation
Note: All subsequent images are for reference only and may change due to product improvements. Please refer to the actual user interface.
Download the App
The UGOS Pro system allows access via web browsers, PCs (Windows/Mac), smartphones, and tablets (Android/iOS).
Option 1: Website
Visit https://nas.ugreen.com/pages/app-download and select the appropriate app to install.
The UGREEN NAS app allows you to easily store, back up, sync, share data, and manage applications. It offers flexible multi-user permission configuration.

Option 2: App Store
Search for "UGREEN NAS" in your smartphone's App Store and install it.
The UGREEN NAS app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Option 3: NFC Detection
Enable NFC on your smartphone or tablet and hold it near the NFC detection area of the NAS device. Access the download page, select the appropriate app for your system, and install it.
Option 4: Scan QR Code
Scan the QR code (also found on the device) with your smartphone or tablet's camera. Install the corresponding app compatible with your device's operating system.
Account Registration
Option 1: Add NAS Device via Browser
Your NAS device must be powered on and connected to the same local network as your computer.
- Visit Website: Open a browser and go to find.ugnas.com. The system will automatically search for devices in the current local network.
- Device Found: Select the device and click "Connect" to register an account. If the device is not initialized, its status will show "Not Initialized". If no device is found, check the network connection and search again, or use the "UGREEN NAS" app.
- Initialization:
- Name Your UGREEN NAS: Give your device a recognizable name.
- Create Local Administrator Account and Password: Register an account to manage the device. The password must be at least 6 characters long, including uppercase and lowercase letters.
- Link Email Address (Optional): Enter your email to receive a verification code for enabling remote access via UGREENlink.
- Select System Update Option: Choose your preferred update option and proceed with system initialization.
Option 2: Add NAS Device via UGREEN NAS on Your Computer
Your NAS device must be powered on and connected to the same local network as your computer.
- Open UGREEN NAS: Click "Register New Device". The system will search for devices in the local network.
- Device Found: Select the device. If its status is "NEW", click "Register" to connect. If previously registered, it will show "Connect". If no device is found, check the network connection or use the "UGREEN NAS" app.
- Initialization: Follow the same steps as Option 1 for naming the device, creating an administrator account, linking an email, and selecting update options.
Option 3: Add NAS Device via UGREEN NAS on Your Smartphone/Tablet
Your NAS device must be powered on and connected to the same local network as your smartphone or tablet.
- Open UGREEN NAS: Click "Register New Device". The system will search for devices in the local network.
- Device Found: Select the device. If its status is "NEW", click "Register" to connect. If previously registered, it will show "Connect". If no device is found, check the network connection, scan the QR code on the device, or use the user manual for assistance.
- Initialization: Follow the same steps as Option 1 for naming the device, creating an administrator account, linking an email, and selecting update options.
Manage Storage
Volume setup is required to use UGREEN NAS for storing application data and personal files.
1. Create Volume
Upon first access to the UGOS Pro interface, follow the main function overview and click "Create Volume" in the "New User Guide" wizard to create a storage pool and volume. Alternatively, access "Storage" from the homepage and set it up under "Storage Pool & Volume".
2. Storage Pool Functionality
A storage pool is a collection of one or more hard drives that can be protected by RAID. Different RAID types offer varying levels of data redundancy. Refer to the Knowledge Center for detailed steps on selecting a RAID type.
Invite Users
- Admin: Log in to the UGREEN NAS app, navigate to "Control Panel" > "User Management". Click "Add" and "Create", then enter the required data to create a new user. Submit the UGREENlink ID and account credentials to the invited user.
- Invited User: Install the UGREEN NAS app and log in using the provided credentials. Users can also be invited via QR code, invitation link, or Domain/LDAP.
Note: If UGREENlink remote access is not enabled, multiple users can access the device within the same local network (LAN) by entering the device's IP address instead of the UGREENlink ID.
Enable UGREENlink
UGREENlink Remote Access allows you to connect to your UGREEN NAS remotely over the internet without complex network configurations.
- Go to "Control Panel" > "Remote Access".
- Check "UGREENlink Remote Access". You must be logged into your UGREEN Cloud Account.
- Enter your desired UGREENlink ID and click "Apply". The ID must be unique and memorable (e.g., "ugreen").
- The access URL for the UGOS Pro web version will be displayed, and you can log in to the UGREEN NAS app with your UGREENlink ID.
Reset Network and Password
- Power on the NAS device and press and hold the "RESET" button with a pin for 5 seconds until you hear a short beep. The device will restart automatically.
- After restart, the white network LED will remain lit. Connect to the device via LAN.
- Log in with the account "admin" (no password required) for password reset.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your administrator password.
Reset System
- Power on the NAS device and press and hold the "RESET" button with a pin for 5 seconds (a short beep), then hold for another 8 seconds until you hear three beeps.
- The device will restart and reset the system. The white network indicator will remain lit, indicating the device is ready.
- After the reset, initialization settings must be reconfigured.
Note: Resetting does not affect data stored on the hard drive but resets all system and network configurations.
