Genexis FiberTwist P2110B Installation Guide

Product Overview

This document provides essential installation instructions for the Genexis FiberTwist P2110B, a key component for fiber optic connectivity.

Button Overview

The device features two buttons on its side:

  • Unlock button: Used to release the cover. Press and hold this button while twisting the cover counterclockwise to remove the FiberTwist or its blind cover.
  • LED dim button: Allows adjustment of the LED brightness. Press and release this button to cycle through dimming steps.

Port Overview

The rear of the device contains the following ports:

  • LAN port: A standard RJ45 port for connecting to your gateway or network device.
  • Power port: For connecting the supplied power adapter.

LED Overview

Indicator LEDs on the front of the device provide status information:

System LED:

  • Green: Indicates the system is operating normally.
  • Off: Indicates the device is powered off.

Uplink LED:

  • Green: Indicates a stable link is established.
  • Green (blinking): Indicates the link is currently being established.
  • Off: Indicates no link is detected.

Installation Guide

Important: For optimal performance and to prevent damage to sensitive fiber optic connectors, follow these instructions precisely and without interruption. Improper handling can lead to severe degradation of signal quality.

Upon opening the package, you should find the following items:

  • Genexis FiberTwist (active device)
  • Power adapter
  • Labels (self-adhesive)

Label Position

The product label, containing important identification information, is located on the back of the active device.

Preparation

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure that a power socket is conveniently located within reach of the intended installation site for the device.

Remove Blind Cover (if present)

If a blind cover is attached to the FiberTwist, follow these steps to remove it:

  1. Press and hold the unlock button (refer to the Button Overview section).
  2. Rotate the blind cover counterclockwise until it stops or 'blocks'.
  3. Gently pull the blind cover away from the baseplate (FTU) towards yourself to detach it.
  4. Store the blind cover in a safe and accessible location for future use.

Remove Dust Cap

The fiber optic connector is protected by a dust cap:

  1. Carefully remove the FiberTwist unit from its packaging.
  2. Locate the dust cap, which is attached to a red string on the rear of the FiberTwist.
  3. Gently pull the red string to remove the dust cap.
  4. Store the dust cap safely to protect the connector when the device is not in use.

Attach FiberTwist to FTU

Connect the FiberTwist to its Fiber Termination Unit (FTU):

  1. Position the FiberTwist onto the FTU at approximately a 30-degree angle.
  2. Rotate the FiberTwist clockwise until it audibly 'clicks' into place, indicating a secure connection.
  3. Verify that the FiberTwist is aligned squarely with the FTU, ensuring all edges match up precisely.

Your FiberTwist is now successfully installed!

Connecting the FiberTwist

Complete the network and power connections:

  1. Connect your gateway device to the FiberTwist's LAN port using an RJ45 network cable.
  2. Connect the provided power adapter to the FiberTwist and then plug the adapter into a nearby power socket.

Uninstalling: If you need to uninstall the FiberTwist in the future, first replace the Blind Cover onto the FTU and then reattach the dust cap to the FiberTwist.

Warning: This product incorporates a laser that emits invisible light. It is classified as a Class 1 Consumer Laser product according to EN 50689:2021, ensuring safety under normal operating conditions. Nevertheless, it is strongly advised not to look directly into the fiber connector while the product is powered on.

Warning: Ensure the device is not covered, as this will obstruct ventilation and may lead to overheating. Recommended Ambient Operating Temperature: 0°C to 40°C.
