CASIO Module No. 3286

User Manual for BG-5600/5601/5606/5607

Battery

The battery installed at the factory may discharge during shipping and storage. When the first signs of insufficient power appear (e.g., dim display), the battery must be replaced at an authorized CASIO service center or dealer.

Water Resistance

For all categories of watches, it is forbidden to: press buttons underwater; adjust hands underwater; unscrew the crown underwater.

If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it with a soft cloth.

Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.

For watches with plastic straps: A whitish powdery substance may appear on the strap. This substance is harmless to skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a cloth. Sweat or moisture on plastic straps, or storage in high humidity, can damage, tear, or crack the strap. To ensure a long service life for plastic straps, wipe them clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth whenever possible.

For watches with fluorescent cases and bands: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause gradual fading of the fluorescent color. Prolonged contact with moisture can cause gradual fading of the fluorescent color. If any moisture gets on the watch surface, wipe it off as soon as possible. Prolonged contact with any other wet surface can cause discoloration of the fluorescent color. Ensure the fluorescent surface is dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.

Strong friction of a surface with applied fluorescent paint against another surface can cause the fluorescent paint to transfer to that surface.

When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to physical laws and is not a defect.

CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of these watches and does not accept any claims from third parties.

Notes:

  1. Watches are not water-resistant. Avoid any moisture contact.
  2. II WR (Water Resistant) means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause problems.
  3. With 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance, the watch can withstand water pressure of the indicated value and can therefore be used during showering and brief swimming.
  4. 10 Bar (100 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
  5. 20 Bar (200 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).

Watch Care

Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.

The rubber gasket protecting the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years.

If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest dealer or CASIO distributor.

Initial Screens

When you switch to the World Time or Alarm modes, the screen will display the data that was viewed the last time these modes were accessed.

World Time Synchronization

The seconds counter in the World Time Mode is synchronized with the seconds in the Current Time Mode.

The time displayed in the World Time Mode is synchronized with the time in the Current Time Mode and is displayed taking into account UTC offset settings.

UTC stands for "Coordinated Universal Time," a worldwide scientific standard for time measurement. It is based on highly accurate atomic (cesium) clocks that measure time with microsecond precision. Adjustment seconds are added or subtracted as needed to synchronize Universal Time with the Earth's rotation.

Precautions for Backlight Use

The electro-luminescent panel used for the backlight loses its brightness over time.

The backlight is difficult to see in direct sunlight.

The watch may emit a faint sound when the screen backlight is activated. This is due to vibration of the electro-luminescent panel and does not indicate a malfunction.

The backlight automatically turns off when any alarm sounds.

Frequent use of the backlight reduces battery life.

Setting Backlight Duration

1. In the Current Time Mode, press and hold button A until the seconds digit starts flashing. This indicates you are in the backlight duration setting mode.

2. Press button B to set the backlight duration to 3 seconds (indicator displayed) or 1.5 seconds (indicator displayed).

Standard time rules (UTC/GMT difference) and daylight saving time rules vary by country.

Note on CCS: Data is as of December 2010. The UTC offset for Venezuela was changed from -04:00 to -04:50 in December 2007, but the watch retains the older value corresponding to city code CCS (Caracas, Venezuela).

Note on Russian Time Zones: As of June 2011, Russia abolished daylight saving time. Federal Law adopted on 21.07.2014 changed timekeeping, establishing 11 time zones in Russia as of 26.10.2014, with most shifted back by one hour. Please consider this information when setting your watch.

Casio watches show approximate values and cannot be used as precise instruments. Casio measurement accuracy is within 10%.
