1. Introduction

The Radtel RT-910 is a versatile 5W multi-band handheld ham radio and walkie-talkie, designed for reliable communication across various frequencies. It features 960 programmable channels, AM/FM reception, and a spectrum scan function, making it suitable for a wide range of applications from amateur radio use to outdoor activities and professional environments. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your RT-910 radio.

2. What's in the Box

Upon opening your Radtel RT-910 package, please verify that all the following items are included:

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  3. Gently slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
  4. To remove, press the battery release latch (if present) and slide the battery downwards.

3.2 Antenna Attachment

  1. Locate the antenna connector on the top of the radio.
  2. Screw the dual-band antenna clockwise onto the connector until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Volume

To power on the radio, rotate the top knob clockwise. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off the device.

4.2 Frequency Tuning and Channel Selection

The RT-910 supports both VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode for direct frequency input and MR (Memory Recall) mode for channel selection. Use the VFO/MR button to switch between modes. In VFO mode, use the keypad to enter frequencies directly. In MR mode, use the up/down arrow keys to navigate through saved channels.

4.3 Channel Grouping & One-Key Copy

The radio allows for quick organization of presets and synchronization of settings across multiple units using the one-key copy function. This feature is particularly useful for quickly setting up multiple radios with the same configuration.

4.4 VOX Hands-Free Operation

The Voice-Operated Exchange (VOX) function allows for hands-free transmission. When enabled, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button. This is ideal for situations where your hands are occupied.

4.5 Power Level Adjustment

The RT-910 allows you to switch between High, Medium, and Low power output settings (up to 5W). Adjusting the power level can help conserve battery life when long-range communication is not required.

4.6 Spectrum Scan and NOAA Weather Alerts

Utilize the spectrum scan feature to identify active frequencies. The radio also supports NOAA weather alerts, providing timely notifications for severe weather conditions, enhancing safety during outdoor activities.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Charging the Battery

The RT-910 features convenient Type-C charging. Connect the provided Type-C charging cable to the radio and a power source (USB wall adapter, vehicle charger, power bank, or PC USB port). The charging indicator will show the charging status.

5.2 Power Save Mode

The radio features adjustable power-saving modes (Normal, Super, Deep) to optimize battery life. These modes control the ratio of sleep and awake cycles during standby. Refer to the radio's menu for specific settings.

5.3 General Care

  • Keep the radio dry. Avoid exposure to rain, moisture, or liquids.
  • Clean the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Store the radio in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the radio to severe impacts.
