5.2 Main Functions
5.2.1 Selecting Primary Frequency Band (Band A or Band B)
In standby mode, press the [A/B] key to select the primary frequency band. The highlighted frequency indicates the primary band.
5.2.2 PTT Function
When operating in Band A, press the PTT key to transmit on Band A frequency. When operating in Band B, press the PTT key to transmit on Band B frequency.
5.2.3 AM Band Mode
Press [VFO/MR] to switch to frequency mode. Enter the airband frequency directly (108 MHz to 136 MHz). The radio will automatically switch to AM receive mode, and the channel status will display AM. This mode is primarily for receiving AM modulated signals.
5.2.4 Scanning Mode
Assign the scanning function to the PF2/PF3 side keys. Alternatively, press and hold the '1' key to start frequency or channel scanning. You can select one of the following modes from Menu 22:
- Time Operated (TO): The radio stops scanning when it detects a signal and stays on that frequency. After 5 seconds, it resumes scanning even if the signal is still present.
- Carrier Operated (CO): The radio stops scanning and stays on the same frequency when it detects a signal, until the signal disappears. There is a 2-second delay before scanning resumes after the signal is lost.
- Seek (SE): When a signal is detected, the radio exits scanning mode and stays on that frequency.
5.2.5 FM Radio Reception
Long press the '0' key to activate FM RADIO. The current frequency will be displayed. Use UP/DOWN keys or the channel knob to tune frequencies. You can also enter the frequency directly. Press the OK key to switch FM RADIO bands between 65-76 MHz and 76-108 MHz. Press the '#' key to enter the automatic channel search mode. Long press '0' again to turn off FM RADIO.
5.2.6 Frequency Sweep / Frequency Copy
(Assign PF2/PF3 keys as SEARCH via Menu 22-24) This function is used to scan for frequencies and subtones of nearby radio stations for immediate communication.
After assigning PF keys as SEARCH, press the key until "SEARCH/SEEK..." is displayed. Press the MENU key to select the frequency band (UHF/VHF/200M/300M). After capturing a frequency, it will continue to search for CTCSS/DCS subtones. If no subtone is found, "NONE" will be displayed. At this point, you can press the [MENU] key to save the frequency to a specified channel, or press UP/DOWN keys to start the next frequency scan.
5.2.7 NOAA Weather Forecast
(Assign PF key as NOAA via Menu 22-24) Press the designated side key to activate this function. The radio has 10 built-in fixed frequencies. You can press UP/DOWN keys to select the frequency you wish to listen to.
Note: NOAA weather forecast is only available in countries and regions that support NOAA channels.
6. Key Combinations
Various functions can be accessed by long-pressing specific keys:
Key Press | Function | Description |
---|---|---|
Long press digit 1 | SCANNING | Initiate scanning. |
Long press digit 2 | Memory channel | Save frequency to a channel. |
Long press digit 3 | Frequency step | Set the frequency step. |
Long press digit 4 | Select power | Choose high, medium, or low power. |

7. Advanced Functions
7.1 DTMF Encoding Transmission
Quick Operation: Press and hold the PTT key, then dial numeric keys 0-9, MENU, UP, DOWN, EXIT, *, and #. The radio will transmit DTMF codes 0-9, A, B, C, D, *, and #. Release the key to stop transmitting codes.
DTMF Code Editing: In standby mode, press and hold the DTMF key to enter the DTMF code editing interface. You can enter codes 0-9, OK, UP, DOWN, Exit, *, and # using the keypad. Press PTT to send the DTMF code.
7.2 PTT-ID Function
Transmit identification codes or call codes via DTMF. There are 15 sets of call codes configurable via "Programming Software → Edit → DTMF". Each signal or A/B band can independently select a call code group for transmission. Configure identification code parameters via "Programming Software → Edit → DTMF → Local ID Code". There are three transmission methods:
- Send on Press: After pressing the PTT key, the call code/ID code is sent first, followed by voice.
- Send on Release: After releasing the PTT key, the call code/ID code is sent, and then transmission ends.
- Send Both: The call code/ID code is sent both when PTT is pressed and released.
Note: Since the ID code operation is independent of the call code, if there is a conflict between the ID code and call code settings, the ID code will be sent.
7.3 Function List
The radio offers a wide range of functions accessible through menus:
