AT&T U-verse High-Speed Internet and Voice Wi-Fi Gateway Self-Installation Guide
This guide provides instructions for setting up your AT&T U-verse High-Speed Internet and Voice Wi-Fi Gateway.
Set Up Voicemail from Your Home Phone
AT&T U-verse Voicemail offers advanced technology to save time and money.
- Dial *98 or your home phone number.
- Follow the prompts to set up your mailbox.
- Set up your authentication code to reset your PIN if forgotten.
After setup, visit att.com/vmviewer for automatic delivery of voicemail messages to your Wi-Fi device or computer. Download the AT&T Voicemail Viewer App to check messages visually and read them as Voicemail to Text.
Manage Your U-verse Phone and Voicemail Features
To manage phone features online:
- Log in to your online account at att.com/myatt.
- Click on HOME PHONE.
- Click on MANAGE FEATURES.
To manage voicemail features online:
- Log in to your online account at att.com/myatt.
- Click on HOME PHONE.
- Click on CHECK VOICEMAIL.
- Click on VOICEMAIL SETTINGS.

Having Trouble?
Check these common issues:
- Service Activation Date: Do not attempt to install until 2 PM or later on your service activation date, found on your packing slip.
- Service Activation: Ensure your Internet and Voice services are activated to work correctly. See Step 3 inside.
- Check Connections: Ensure all cables and cords are connected properly and securely.
- Power Cycle: Unplug the Wi-Fi Gateway's power cord for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait up to two minutes for indicator lights to turn solid green.

Before you begin:
- Check your service activation date: Do not install until 2 PM or later on the date provided by AT&T, also found on your packing slip.
- Monitored Home Security or Health Alarm: If you have either, an AT&T U-verse technician must install your service. Call 800.288.2020 to schedule an appointment. Additional charges may apply.
Approximate installation time: 30 minutes

1. Set Up
Approximate time: 10 minutes
A. Connect Phone: Connect the gray phone cable from the Phone Line 1 & 2 port of the Wi-Fi Gateway to your home phone.
B. Connect Computer: Connect the yellow Ethernet cable from an Ethernet port of the Wi-Fi Gateway to your computer.
C. Connect to Wall Jack: Connect the green data cable from the Wi-Fi Gateway's DSL Broadband port to your wall jack.
D. Connect Power: Carefully remove the yellow Power sticker covering the Power port of the Wi-Fi Gateway. Connect the power cord to the Power port and into an electrical outlet.
Below is a completed setup. Your connections may vary.

2. Power Up
Approximate time: 1-5 minutes
Your Wi-Fi Gateway is powering up. Wait up to five minutes for the Broadband and Service indicator lights to turn solid green.
Important: Do not unplug the green data cable during this process, as it can permanently damage the Wi-Fi Gateway and delay service activation.
If the Broadband and Service lights do not turn solid green or continue blinking after 5 minutes, refer to "Having trouble?" on the back of this guide.

3. Registration & Activation
Approximate time: 5 minutes
Customers who have already completed U-verse online registration:
- Your high-speed Internet and voice services will activate automatically. This may take a few minutes.
- Open a browser, go to a website, and check for access.
- Test making and receiving calls from the connected phone to ensure it is working.
Customers who have NOT completed U-verse online registration:
- Open your Internet browser.
- Go to att.net/uverse if registration does not start automatically.
- Enter your Account Number (from your order confirmation) and your 4-digit passcode.
- Follow the online instructions to complete registration and activate services.
- Upon successful registration, you will see a confirmation message: "Congratulations. Your AT&T U-verse services are now activated and ready to use!"
- Test making and receiving calls from the connected phone to ensure it is working.
4. Go Wi-Fi
Approximate time: 10 minutes
Write down your Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Password (Wireless Network Key) from the side of your Wi-Fi Gateway. The SSID typically starts with "ATT" followed by the last three characters of the Gateway's serial number.
Configure your Wi-Fi network:
- Go to your computer's "Wireless Network Settings" and refresh the network list.
- Select your Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) from the list.
- Enter the 10-character Wi-Fi Password (Wireless Network Key) to connect.
You should now be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

Your Wi-Fi Gateway does not contain a battery backup. Battery backup is available for purchase from third-party manufacturers and retailers. Visit att.com/batterybackup for more information.
