TONSTAD Chair Assembly Instructions

This document provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the IKEA TONSTAD chair. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure safe and correct assembly.

Before you begin, ensure you have all the parts listed below and a clear workspace. Protect your floor by assembling on a soft surface like a rug or the packaging material. ?

Assembly Steps

Step 1

Attach part 100505 to the main frame pieces. Insert two bolts (100159) through the designated holes and tighten them. Ensure part 100505 is correctly oriented as shown in the close-up diagram.

Step 2

Insert the vertical support pieces into the corresponding holes on the assembled frame. The diagram shows two vertical pieces being attached.

Step 3

Secure the vertical support pieces using brackets (115983). Insert the bracket and tighten the bolt using the Allen key (111631). Repeat for both vertical supports. The diagram shows a close-up of this process.

Step 4

Attach the second main frame piece. Insert two connectors (100505) and secure with two bolts (100159). This step is similar to Step 1.

Step 5

Connect the two main structural components of the chair. The diagram shows one part being lowered onto the other.

Step 6

Secure the connection from Step 5 using brackets (115983) and the Allen key (111631). Repeat for both sides as shown in the diagram.

Step 7

Carefully turn the chair upright. Attach the seat base to the frame. Secure it by tightening four bolts from underneath using the Allen key (111631). The diagram shows the chair upright and the seat base being secured.

Step 8

Attach the plastic clip/holder pieces (10032286) to the underside of the seat base. Insert four clips into the designated holes. The diagram shows a close-up of this attachment.

Step 9

Attach the backrest to the chair frame. Align the backrest with the mounting points and press down firmly until it is securely in place. The diagram shows a person attaching the backrest.

Step 10

Attach the feet/base pieces (148819) to the bottom of the chair legs. Secure each foot with one screw (108445). The diagram shows one foot being attached and screwed in.

Step 11

Attach the remaining plastic clip/holder pieces (10032286) to the backrest supports. Ensure they click into place securely. The diagram shows this attachment process with a "Click!" indication.

Final Check and Care

Ensure all bolts and screws are tightened securely. Periodically check and retighten as necessary. ✔️

Clean the chair with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
