TONSTAD Chair Assembly Instructions

This document provides assembly instructions for the IKEA TONSTAD chair. Please ensure you have all parts and tools before beginning assembly.

Parts and Hardware

Bolt (100159): 4x
Dowel/Connector (100505): 4x
Bracket (115983): 4x
Screw (108445): 1x
Allen Key (111631): 1x
Foot/Base (148819): 1x
Seat Clip/Holder (10032286): 4x

Assembly Steps

Step 1

Attach seat frame components. Insert two dowels (100505) into the designated holes on one wooden piece. Align another wooden piece with the dowels and insert two bolts (100159) through the holes, tightening them with a [Phillips screwdriver]. Ensure the connection is secure (✔️), not loose (❌).

Step 2

Attach the two vertical side support pieces to the main seat frame using bolts.

Step 3

Secure four brackets (115983) to the inside of the vertical side supports. Use the Allen key (111631) to tighten the bolts on the brackets. Ensure the brackets are correctly oriented.

Step 4

Assemble the front/back section of the seat frame. Similar to Step 1, insert two dowels (100505) into one piece and align it with another, securing with two bolts (100159).

Step 5

Connect the assembled seat frame sections. The diagram shows the chair frame being flipped over to facilitate the next steps.

Step 6

Secure the frame by attaching four brackets (115983) to the underside of the seat frame. Use the Allen key (111631) to tighten the bolts. Ensure correct alignment (✔️), not misaligned (❌).

Step 7

Place the chair seat onto the assembled frame. Secure the seat using four bolts (111631), tightening them with the Allen key.

Step 8

Attach four seat clips/holders (10032286) to the underside of the seat. Insert each clip into its designated hole until it clicks into place.

Step 9

Attach the backrest assembly to the seat assembly. Align the backrest components with the seat frame and secure them using screws.

Step 10

Attach the feet to the underside of the chair. Secure one foot/base (148819) to the designated point using one screw (108445).

Step 11

Finalize the seat clips. Ensure all four seat clips/holders (10032286) are firmly in place by pushing them until they audibly click.
