Safety Warnings and Precautions
- ⚠️ WARNING: Please follow all instructions to ensure your child's safety. Keep these instructions for future reference.
- ⚠️ WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death. Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness and ensure children are properly positioned.
- ⚠️ WARNING: Never leave children unattended.
- ⚠️ WARNING: Wheels can detach and cause tip over. Pull on the wheel to ensure it is securely attached.
- ❗ CAUTION: This double jogger is designed for two children of equal/close weights. Use with one child may cause an unbalanced condition that can injure your child.
- Do not hang purses, shopping bags, parcels, or diaper bags on the stroller, as they can change the stroller's balance and create a hazardous unstable condition. Adding an extra parcel bag or rack will make the stroller unstable.
- Maximum weight capacity: Basket: 5 lbs (2.26 kg), Parent tray: 3 lbs (1.36 kg). Side pockets (2): 3 lbs (1.36 kg) each. Back pockets (2): 3 lbs (1.36 kg) each. Canopy pockets (2): 1 lb (0.45 kg) each. Excessive weight can cause a hazardous unstable condition.
- Ensure the stroller is fully erect and latched in the open position before allowing children near it.
- Maximum weight capacity: up to 100 lbs (45 kg total, or 50 lbs/child) or 40 inches (101.6 cm) height. Additional weight may cause excessive wear and stress, leading to instability.
- NEVER use the stroller on stairways or escalators.
- NEVER use the stroller with roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, or bicycles.
- It is recommended that the child occupant be at least 6 months of age for jogging. Consult your healthcare provider regarding the use of a jogging stroller with your child.
- NEVER allow the stroller to be used as a toy.
- To clean, use only mild household soap or detergent and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth.
- Regularly check your stroller for loose screws, worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Replace or repair parts as needed.
- Discontinue use if the stroller malfunctions or is damaged. Contact customer service for repair or replacement parts.
Assembly Instructions
General Assembly Notes
- Adult assembly is required.
- Remove stroller from box. The front wheel, rear wheels, fender, and parent tray need to be installed prior to use.
Front Wheel Assembly
- ⚠️ WARNING: This wheel uses a double nut locking system. Follow all instructions carefully for child safety. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.
- To attach the front wheel:
- 1. Lean the stroller backward so it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, with the front wheel forks pointing upward (See Figure 1).
- 2. Slide the front wheel onto the front forks (See Figure 2).
- 3. Slide the retainer plates onto the front wheel. Ensure the raised lip points toward the fork and insert it into the fork's slot. Align the retainer plate's tab with the slot before tightening the wheel (See Figure 3).
- 4. With the wheel in position, install the axle nuts and tighten with a standard wrench. You should feel significant resistance, and the wheel should be held tightly in place (See Figure 4).
Fender Assembly
- To secure the fender to the frame, use the 4 provided screws.
- 5. Examine the bottom of the front fender. You will notice four 1/4 inch diameter plastic tubes protruding from the bottom (See Figure 5a).
- Align these tubes with the holes in the front frame assembly (See Figure 5b).
- Align the fender and press it onto the front frame assembly (See Figure 5c).
- Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (See Figure 5d). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Rear Wheel Assembly
- 6. Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheel. To attach the rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting (See Figure 6). Depress the metal lever inside the corner fitting while pushing the axle in. Release the lever when the wheel will not go further.
- NOTE: Check that rear wheels are locked by pulling on them. If not locked, lift upward on the levers, push wheels further in, and release levers. This should lock the wheels.
- Ensure wheels are firmly locked. NEVER use the stroller if wheels are not locked. Contact customer service immediately at 1-800-328-7363 (8:00 am - 4:30 pm PST) for assistance.
Parent Tray Assembly
- ⚠️ WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the parent tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.
- 7. To attach the parent tray:
- Position the tray in the center of the stroller handle.
- Snap the upper portion of the tray over the handle (See Figure 7a).
- Attach the lower portion of the tray to the cross tube using the provided screws (See Figure 7b).
Canopy Operation
- 8. To open the canopy: Push forward on the front edge. Fully adjust and extend the canopy, smoothing the fabric along the frame (See Figure 8).
- 9. To fold the canopy: Pull backward on the front edge (See Figure 9).
Tray Compartment
- 10. The parent tray includes a storage compartment with an easy-to-open lid (See Figure 10).
Safety Features and Operation
Brakes
- 11. To engage brakes: Apply light downward pressure to the brake lever on each rear wheel. You may need to move the stroller slightly forward or backward to align the brake teeth with the wheel brake cluster (See Figure 11).
- NOTE: Check that the stroller does not move and that both brakes are properly applied.
- To release brakes: Gently lift up on the brake lever.
Front Wheel Lock
- ⚠️ WARNING: Always lock the front swivel wheel in the STRAIGHT position before placing or removing children, and when walking fast or jogging.
- ⚠️ FALL HAZARD: To prevent tip-overs before running, jogging, or walking fast, lock the front wheel from swiveling.
- 12. The front wheel has a swivel locking device. Push the button upward to engage the lock and downward to disengage it (See Figure 12).
Securing the Child
- ⚠️ WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.
- DANGER OF STRANGULATION: Children can strangle in loose straps. Never leave a child in the seat when straps are loose or undone.
- 13. The 5-point harness has 3 attachment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below, the top of the child's shoulder (See Figure 13a).
- Carefully place the child in the stroller seat. Bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder/waist belt into the buckle on the crotch strap. Tighten the harness to be snug around the child's waist and over the shoulders (See Figure 13b).
Releasing the Child
- 14. To release: Push the button on the center clasp; the two harness buckles will pop free (See Figure 14a).
Seatback Positioning
- 15. The seat has multiple recline positions controlled by a strap and buckle assembly behind the seat (See Figure 15a).
- To recline: Loosen the strap through the buckle and adjust to the desired position (See Figure 15b).
- To move the seat to a more upright position: Press upward on the seat back with one hand while pulling the strap through the buckle with the other. The strap will lock automatically.
- The upright position should only be used for children at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including shoulder belts, when repositioning the seatback.
Jogging with Your Stroller
- ⚠️ WARNING: Never jog or run with your newborn. Use for strolling only.
- DANGER OF STRANGULATION! Children have strangled when straps wrapped around their neck. When not in use, hook the tether strap onto the stroller handle. Keep this strap out of children's reach.
- When jogging with your child, use these safety features:
- 16. LOCK THE FRONT SWIVEL WHEEL IN STRAIGHT POSITION.
- SAFETY WRIST STRAP: Always attach the safety strap to your wrist when jogging. This strap will keep the stroller from rolling away if you trip (See Figure 16a).
- The safety strap must remain connected to the rear lower frame cross member at all times. This prevents the stroller from tipping backward if you fall. The strap includes a Velcro attachment on the left side for storage when not in use (See Figure 16b).
Folding and Unfolding
Tire Inflation
- 17. Tires are shipped un-inflated. Inflate tires regularly to the PSI specified on each tire. Always use a bicycle-style hand air pump. (*Not included).
To Fold Stroller
- ⚠️ WARNING: Be careful when folding to prevent finger entrapment.
- ❗ CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while folding.
- 18. Close the canopy as described in the canopy section. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle as described in seatback positioning.
- The stroller is folded by simultaneously pulling each trigger (See Figure 18a). When fold latches release, the handle will begin to fall. Release the fold buttons and press downward on the stroller handle until completely folded. Secure the folded stroller by locking the fold latch (on the right side) over the frame rivet (See Figure 18b).
To Unfold Stroller
- ⚠️ WARNING: Be careful when unfolding to prevent finger entrapment.
- ❗ CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while unfolding.
- 19. Place the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching the ground. Release the folding latch on the right side (See Figure 19a).
- Lift the stroller handle with both hands until the frame is erected and locked in the open position (See Figure 19b). The stroller has spring-loaded latches on both sides. Ensure both latches are fully engaged before placing your child in the stroller.
Maintenance and Testing
Testing for Proper Wheel Installation
- ⚠️ WARNING: ALWAYS check the double nut locking system before each use to ensure the front wheel is securely fastened to the frame.
- 20. Lift the front end of the stroller and pull down on the wheel to ensure it is attached (See Figure 20). The wheel should not be loose or come off.
- If the front wheel wobbles excessively during walking or jogging, you may need to adjust the front wheel housing nut.
- 21. If the front wheel wobbles excessively, adjust the front wheel housing nut located under the footrest. Use a standard wrench to tighten the nut (See Figure 21). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can damage the wheel housing.
Wheel Adjustment
- Vehicles with three wheels can easily deviate from a straight line due to external factors like uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, or manufacturing tolerances. If your Baby Trend stroller tracks or pulls significantly left or right on flat terrain, follow the instructions on page 16 (referring to page 9 in the original document for realignment) to realign your front wheel.
Flat Tire
- The jogging stroller uses bicycle tires for extended wear and ease of pushing. Like any bicycle tire, it can get flat tires. You can repair a flat tire using a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take it to a bicycle shop. For frequent flat tires, consider purchasing thorn-proof inner tubes, available at bicycle stores or many national retail stores. The correct size is indicated on the tire sidewall.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- SEAT PAD: To clean, use only mild household soap or detergent and warm water with a sponge or clean cloth.
- FRAME: Wipe clean with a soft, clean cloth and mild soap.
- OTHER: Regularly check for loose screws, worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Replace or repair parts as needed.
