Quick Start Guide
Safety Instructions
1. Do not repair, disassemble, or modify the device without permission.
2. For adequate ventilation, maintain a minimum clearance of 10cm at the back and sides, and 20cm at the top of the player.
3. Avoid water dripping or splashing onto the player. Do not place liquid-filled objects, such as vases, on the player.
4. Do not cover ventilation holes with items like newspapers, cloth, or curtains to prevent airflow obstruction.
5. Do not place open flame sources, such as lit candles, on the player.
6. Connect the player to an AC power outlet with grounding protection.
7. If the power plug and appliance coupler are used as disconnecting devices, ensure they are easily operable.
8. Dispose of used batteries according to relevant local regulations.
9. This device is intended for safe use in areas with an elevation below 2000m.
10. This device is intended for safe use under non-tropical climate conditions.
Safety Precautions
CAUTION: Risk of Electric Shock. DO NOT OPEN.
The symbol with an arrowed lightning bolt inside an equilateral triangle warns the user of high voltages within the player that could cause electric shock.
The symbol with an exclamation mark inside an equilateral triangle warns the user that the player has important operation and maintenance instructions.
Laser Warning
1. The laser beam in this player can cause eye damage. Do not open the enclosure; only a qualified technician should perform repairs.
2. This player is classified as a Class 1 Laser Product, as indicated by the label on the rear of the enclosure.
3. The laser components in this product can generate laser radiation exceeding the Class 1 limit.

Remote Control
The remote control is universal and can be used with different components. Ensure it is set to the matching mode.
- [CD] Button: Press to use the remote. Long press to switch the device into standby mode.
- [POWER] Button: Turns the device on or off.
- [STOP & EJECT] Button: Stops playback or opens/closes the disc tray.
- [PLAY/PAUSE] Button: Starts or pauses playback.
- [PREV TRACK] Button: Short press for the previous track, long press to rewind.
- [NEXT TRACK] Button: Short press for the next track, long press to fast forward.
- [RANDOM] Button: Toggles random playback mode.
- [REP] Button: Repeats the current track or the entire album/disc.
- [MUTE] Button: Mutes or unmutes the audio output.
- [INPUT] Button: Switches the input source.
- [DIMMER] Button: Turns the screen on or off.
- [VOL +/-] Buttons: Adjusts the volume.
Note: Use the remote within 10 meters and at an angle of less than 30 degrees. Some buttons on a universal remote may not function with this device.
Operating Instructions
Turn ON/OFF
- Connect the power cord and signal cable to the device.
- Set the Power Switch to the [ON] position. The ambient light will turn red.
- Press and hold the [STANDBY] wheel for 2 seconds to turn on the system. The ambient light will change to blue.
- To turn off the device, first press and hold the [STANDBY] wheel for 2 seconds. The ambient light will turn red, and the device will turn off.
- Set the Power Switch to the [OFF] position to completely power off the device.
Input/Output Switching
Input: Press the [▲ INPUT ▼] button on the remote control, or navigate to the Input/Output settings in the main menu on the device. You can switch inputs between "CD PLAYBACK", "LOCAL MUSIC", "BLUETOOTH INPUT", "USB DAC", "COAXIAL", "OPTICAL".
Output: Click the [⑩] icon in the swipe-down menu bar or go to the Input/Output settings in the main menu. You can switch outputs between "Preamp Output", "Line Output", "Headphone Output".
Volume Control
Rotate the wheel on the device or press the [VOL +/-] buttons on the remote control to increase or decrease the volume.
Stop & Eject
- When the device is on, press the [■/▲] button on the front panel or remote to open the disc tray. Press the button again to close the tray.
- When playback is active, press the [▶/II] button on the device or remote to stop playback. Press it again to eject the disc.
Play/Pause
- When a disc is loaded or paused, click the [◎] icon on the display or press the [▶/II] button on the panel or remote to start playback.
- When playing, click the [◎] icon on the display or press the [▶/II] button on the panel or remote to pause playback. Press the button again to resume playback.
Previous Track
Click the [◀] icon on the display or press the [◀] button on the panel or remote. If the current track has progressed less than 5 seconds, playback skips to the previous track. Otherwise, playback will return to the beginning of the current track; press again to skip to the previous track.
Next Track
Click the [▶] icon on the display or press the [▶▶] button on the panel or remote to skip to the next track.
Rewind / Fast Forward
Long press the [◀◀◀] or [▶▶▶] button to rewind or fast forward through the current track.
Repeat Play
Click the [C] icon on the display or press the [REP] key on the remote once. The display will show a [C] icon for track repeat. To repeat the entire album or disc, click the [ ] icon or press [REP] again; the display will show a [ ] icon. To cancel repeat playback, click the [C] icon or press [REP] again; the display will show a [ ] icon.
Random Play
- Press the [X] key on the remote. The display will show an "X" icon, indicating random playback is active.
- Press the [X] key on the remote again to cancel random playback.
Screen On/Off
Short press the [STANDBY] wheel or the [DIMMER] button on the remote control to turn the screen on or off.
Mute Playback
- Press the [MUTE] button to mute playback. The display will show "MUTE".
- Press the [MUTE] button again to resume playback.
Connectivity
SACD/CD Switch
- When a dual-layer hybrid SACD/CD is inserted, press the [SACD/CD] button on the panel to switch between the "SACD" and "CD" layers.
- The SACD/CD indicator lights up blue when playing the SACD layer and red when playing the CD layer.
USB Driver Playback
- It is recommended to use USB drives formatted to FAT32.
- Drives up to 2TB are supported.
- Supports up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512.
- Supported formats include: DSD, DXD, APE, FLAC, WAV, AIFF/AIF, DTS, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, ALAC, MP2, M4A, AC3, OPUS, TAK, and CUE.
Bluetooth Input
- Switch the input to "BT Input" mode.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your device and search for new devices.
- The player will appear as "Shanling SCD1.3".
- Pair your device with the player to connect.
USB Settings
- Connect the SCD1.3 to your computer using a USB cable to the USB DAC port.
- Click the [⑩] icon in the swipe-down menu or go to Input/Output settings in the main menu to switch the input source to "USB DAC".
- For Windows, download the dedicated drivers from the Shanling website. Other systems do not require drivers.
- Ensure the SCD1.3 is set as the active sound device on your computer.
USB drivers download: Visit the download section on the official website (en.shanling.com) to download the latest USB drivers.
Firmware and App Control
APP Control
Download the "Eddict Player" app to remotely control the SCD1.3 from your smartphone or tablet.
Firmware Update
Do not operate the player during the update process.
OTA Online Update
- Enable WiFi on the player and connect to an available network.
- Go to "System Setting - System Update - Network Update" to update the firmware automatically.
USB Drive Update
- Download the firmware update file (update.bin) from the Shanling official website and copy it to the root directory of a USB drive.
- Connect the USB drive to the device. Navigate to "System Setting - System Update - Local Update" and confirm to start the update process.
