Quick Start Guide
Safety Instructions
Please read the following safety instructions carefully before operating the device.
- Do not repair, disassemble, or modify the device without permission. Unauthorized service may cause damage or injury.
- For adequate ventilation, ensure a minimum clearance of 10cm (4 inches) at the back and both sides, and 20cm (8 inches) at the top of the player.
- Do not expose the device to water dripping or splashing. Do not place objects containing liquid, such as vases, on the player.
- Do not cover ventilation holes with materials like newspapers, cloth, or curtains, as this can block airflow.
- Never place open flame sources, such as lit candles, on or near the player.
- Connect the player to an AC power output socket with proper grounding protection.
- The power plug and appliance coupler should be used as the disconnecting device and must be easily operable.
- Dispose of used batteries according to relevant local regulations.
- This device is only suitable for safe use in areas with an elevation under 2000 meters (approx. 6560 feet).
- This device is only suitable for safe use under non-tropical climate conditions.
Safety Precautions
⚡ WARNING: CAUTION
Risk of Electric Shock. DO NOT OPEN.
The symbol with an arrowed lightning inside an equilateral triangle indicates high voltages within the player that can cause electric shock.
The symbol with an exclamation mark inside an equilateral triangle warns the user that the player has important operation and maintenance instructions.
Laser Warning
The laser beam used in this player can be harmful to the eyes. Do not open the enclosure. Only a qualified technician should perform repairs.
This player is classified as a Class 1 laser product, indicated by a label on the rear of the enclosure.
The laser components in this product can generate laser radiation above the Class 1 limit.

Parts Name
Identify the different parts of the Shanling EC3 Stereo CD Player.
Front Panel
- Disc Cover: The lid that covers the CD tray.
- Area for Disc: The space where the CD is placed.
- Play/Pause Button: Starts or pauses playback.

Remote Control Diagram
The universal remote control allows operation of the EC3. Ensure it is set to the correct mode if using with other Shanling devices.
- CD Button: Press to use the remote for the CD player. Long press to switch to standby mode.

Note:
- Use the remote within a distance of 10 meters (approx. 33 feet) and an angle of 30 degrees.
- Some buttons on the universal remote may not function with the EC3.
Operating Instructions
Turn ON/OFF
- Connect the power cord and signal cables to the player.
- Set the power switch on the rear panel to the [ON] position. The indicator on the display should initially turn red/blue, then red.
- Press and hold the [ ⚙️ / MENU ] volume wheel for 2 seconds. The indicator will turn blue, and the device will power on.
- To turn off the device, press and hold the [ ⚙️ / MENU ] volume wheel for 2 seconds. The indicator will turn red, and the device will enter standby mode.
- To completely power off the player, set the power switch on the rear panel to the [OFF] position. For extended periods of non-use, disconnect the power cord from the mains socket.
Select Input Source
Press the [SOURCE] button on the machine or the [ ⬆️ INPUT ⬇️ ] buttons on the remote to cycle through the available input sources: CD, USB Drive, and Bluetooth.
Stop Playback
- While playing, press the [ ■ ] button on the player or the [ ■ / ▶ ] button on the remote to stop playback.
- When changing the disc, always ensure playback is stopped before opening the disc cover.
Pause Playback
Press the [ ▶ / ⏸️ ] button on the player or remote to pause playback. Press the button again to resume playback. The display will show a " ⏸️ " icon when paused.
Previous Track
While playing, press the [ ⏮️ ] button on the player or remote. If the current track has played for less than 3 seconds, it will skip to the previous track. If the current track has played for more than 5 seconds, pressing the button once will return it to the beginning of the current track; pressing it again will skip to the previous track.
Next Track
While playing, press the [ ⏭️ ] button on the player or remote to switch to the next track.
Rewind / Fast Forward
Long press the [ ⏪ ] button to rewind or the [ ⏩ ] button to fast forward within the current track. Playback will resume normally when the button is released.
Menu Setting
Press the [ ⚙️ / MENU ] volume wheel from the main screen to enter the System Settings menu. Rotate the knob to navigate through the menu options. Press the knob to confirm your selection. Press the [ ◀ / ▶ ] buttons to return to the previous menu.
USB Driver Playback
- It is recommended to format USB drives to FAT32 before copying music files. The player may not recognize drives formatted otherwise.
- The player supports USB drives up to 2TB in capacity.
- Supports high-resolution audio up to PCM 384kHz and DSD256.
- Supported file formats include: DSD, DXD, APE, FLAC, WAV, AIFF/AIF, DTS, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, ALAC, MP2, M4A, AC3, OPUS, TAK, and CUE sheets.
Bluetooth Input
- Switch the source input to Bluetooth mode using the [SOURCE] button or remote.
- On your smartphone or tablet, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- The player will appear as "Shanling EC3" in the list of available devices.
- Select "Shanling EC3" and pair it with your device. Once connected, you can play music through your preferred playback app.
Repeat
- To play the current track repetitively, press the [REP] button on the remote once. The display will show " 1️⃣ ".
- To play the entire disc repetitively, press the [REP] button again. The display will show " ? ".
- To cancel repeat mode, press the [REP] button again. The display will show " ? ".
Random Playback
- While playing, press the [ ? ] button on the remote. The display will show " ? ". The player will play tracks in a random order until the disc is finished.
- Press the [ ? ] or [ ■ / ▶ ] button to end random playback mode.
Screen On/Off
Press the [DIMMER] button on the remote control to turn the display screen on or off.
Mute Playback
- Press the [MUTE] button on the remote to mute the audio output. The display will show a " ? " icon.
- Press the [MUTE] button again to resume normal audio playback.
APP Control
Control your Shanling EC3 wirelessly using the Eddict Player mobile application.
- From the main screen, press the [ ⚙️ / MENU ] knob to enter the settings menu.
- Navigate to "Bluetooth Settings" and turn on Bluetooth.
- Select "SyncLink" and turn it on.
- Insert a USB drive containing music files and switch the input source to "USB Drive".
- On your smartphone or tablet, open the Eddict Player app. Navigate to the SyncLink function and enable Client mode. Select "Shanling EC3" from the list of available devices.
- In the app, click "Scan Music" to scan for music files on the connected USB drive.
- You can now control music playback on your EC3 directly from the Eddict Player app.

Note: The operating instructions for the CD-S100(21)/EC3 using the mobile app are the same.
Firmware Update
Keep your Shanling EC3 up-to-date with the latest firmware. Do not operate the player during the update process.
- Download the latest firmware update file (named "update.bin") from the official Shanling website. Copy this file to the root directory of a USB drive.
- Connect the USB drive to the EC3. From the main screen, press the [ ⚙️ / MENU ] knob to enter the settings menu.
- Navigate to "System Settings" > "System Update" and select "Confirm" to begin the firmware update process.
