Installation Guide
This document provides the installation guide for the SALTO XS4 Locker.
Languages covered: English (Installation guide), Spanish (Guía de instalación), French (Guide d'installation), German (Montageanleitung).
Overview and Components
The SALTO XS4 Locker is designed for secure access control in various environments. The installation involves mounting the lock mechanism, reader, and control unit.
Key Dimensions and Components (Page 1 Diagram Description]
The primary diagram illustrates the physical dimensions and components of the XS4 Locker mechanism. Key measurements include:
- Overall width of the main unit: 54 mm (2-1/8 inches).
- Height of the main unit: 110.5 mm (4-11/32 inches).
- Depth of the main unit: 25.5 mm (1 inch).
- Mounting hole spacing for the cylinder/spindle: 30 mm (1-3/16 inches) center-to-center.
- External dimensions of the reader unit: 105 mm (4-1/8 inches) height, 67.5 mm (2-21/32 inches) width.
- Internal dimensions of the reader unit: 100 mm (3-15/16 inches) width, 25.5 mm (1 inch) depth, 15 mm (19/32 inches) height.
- The diagram shows "OUTSIDE" and "INSIDE" views, indicating the external reader and internal mechanism.
- Required tools include TORX20, TORX15, and PZ2 screwdrivers.
- Reference numbers for parts are SP220640 and SP00159-10 LR03.
- Note on door thickness: The installation is for doors with thickness less than 10 mm (3/8 inch). A separate note indicates that the lock is suitable for doors thicker than 40 mm (1-37/64 inches) for specific mounting configurations.
Mounting Configurations (Page 1 & 4 Diagram Description]
The XS4 Locker supports both "L" (Left) and "R" (Right) mounting configurations. The diagrams show the internal mechanism and how it interfaces with the door. Visual indicators show the lock status: "closed" and "open".
Installation Steps
The following steps detail the installation process:
-
Step 1: Prepare Door Holes
Drill holes into the door. The diagram shows a 7 mm [1/4"] deep hole required only on the inside of the door for wiring. Specific hole diameters are indicated: Ø10 (3/8"), Ø20 (25/32"), and Ø3 (1/8").
-
Step 2: Route Wiring and Connect
Guide the wire through the designated slot. A "click" sound indicates proper connection. The diagram shows the wire being fed through the opening.
-
Step 3: Mount Mechanism (L/R)
Mount the "L" or "R" configuration of the lock mechanism. The diagram shows the internal components being secured with screws. A maximum torque of 1.5 Nm is specified for fastening.
-
Step 4: Secure Alignment
Fasten with a screw to keep the components aligned. This ensures proper positioning during installation.
-
Step 5: Connect Cables
Connect the necessary cables (labeled a, b, c in the diagram) to the internal electronics.
-
Step 6: Secure Tamper Protection
Use a Torx T15 screwdriver to secure the tamper-resistant screw, ensuring the unit is protected against unauthorized access.
-
Step 7: Initial Programming and Check
Crucially, do not close the door at this point. Program the XS4 Locker first. Verify operation using a construction card. The instruction is emphasized in multiple languages: "PROGRAM XS4 Locker FIRST", "PROGRAME LA XS4 Locker", "PROGRAMMEZ LA XS4 Locker AVANT", "ZUERST XS4 Locker PROGRAMMIEREN".

Installation and Use Recommendations
- Cleaning: Do not clean with pressure water. (Instructions provided in English, Spanish, French, German: "DO NOT CLEAN WITH PRESSURE WATER", "NO LIMPIAR CON AGUA A PRESIÓN", "NE PAS NETTOYER À L'EAU SOUS PRESSION", "NICHT MIT DRUCKWASSER REINIGEN").
- Radio Performance: If the device is surrounded by metal surfaces or a metallic environment, radio performance could be seriously affected. (Details provided in multiple languages).
- Office Mode: The locker supports an "Office mode" which can be activated or deactivated, indicated by audio signals (BEEP BEEP).
Signaling (Audio Feedback)
The XS4 Locker provides audio feedback for various events:
- Access granted: A single long beep (BEEEEEEP).
- Access denied: Four short beeps (BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP).
- Low battery: Two short beeps (BEEP BEEP).
- Battery change: A sequence of beeps indicating the need for battery replacement (BEEP BEEP BEEP).
Technical Drawing Details (Page 4)
The technical drawing on page 4 provides precise measurements for mounting the reader and control units. It shows the layout for both "R" (Right) and "L" (Left) mounting configurations. Key dimensions include:
- The distance between the center of the reader unit and the center of the control unit is 71.75 mm (2-13/16 inches).
- The height of the control unit mounting area is 55 mm (2-1/8 inches).
- Hole diameters are specified as Ø3 (1/8 inch) for mounting screws, Ø10 (3/8 inch) for the spindle/wire, and Ø20 (25/32 inch) for the latch mechanism.
- The diagram reiterates the requirement for a 7 mm [1/4"] deep hole on the inside of the door for wiring.
