1.5 Installing the Batteries
Remove the battery cover as shown in the diagram and insert two AA batteries. Ensure correct polarity. Do not use rechargeable batteries. When replacing batteries, the date and time settings are lost immediately. After replacing batteries, reconnect to a smartphone to activate a time schedule. The red ring will flash. Time and date are restored upon connection with the app. If the sensor is not reconnected, manual mode remains active.
The "Low Battery" symbol appears approximately one month before the batteries are completely depleted. Before the batteries are fully depleted, Danfoss EcoTM switches the valve to frost protection mode to prevent damage to the heating system. Expected battery life is up to 2 years.
1.6 Mounting the Danfoss EcoTM
Screw the Danfoss EcoTM onto the mounted adapter until you hear a click. Once the thermostat is securely attached, you can rotate the display to your desired position. A large 'M' will flash on the display, indicating that the installation mode is activated. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The temperature setpoint will be displayed once the Danfoss EcoTM is mounted.
1.7 Downloading the Danfoss EcoTM App
Download the Danfoss EcoTM app from your smartphone's app store.

1.8 Pairing Danfoss EcoTM
Note: Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone to connect to Danfoss EcoTM.
Follow the instructions in the Danfoss EcoTM app to pair your Danfoss EcoTM. The Bluetooth range is approximately 10 meters (depending on the environment and building structure).
1.9 Automatic Adjustments
After installation, Danfoss EcoTM will automatically adapt to your heating system during the first week. During this process, the thermostat may respond slowly or adjust the temperature on its own. This is normal and part of the adaptation process.
- Valve Matching: During the first night after commissioning, Danfoss EcoTM turns off and on the radiator heat to determine the exact opening point of the valve. This allows Danfoss EcoTM to regulate heat as efficiently as possible. If necessary, the procedure may be repeated each night for a week.
- Adaptive Learning: If you activate the "Adaptive Learning" function, Danfoss EcoTM learns during the first week when to start the heating process to reach the desired temperature at the correct time. The intelligent control continuously adjusts heating times to seasonal temperature fluctuations. For the savings program to work, your heating system must generate enough heat for a short period during warm-up. Contact your installer if you experience problems.
1.10 Removing Danfoss EcoTM
- Remove the cover.
- Press and hold the button until a large 'M' flashes, indicating mounting mode.
- Press the tab firmly and unscrew the thermostat from the adapter.
1.11 Resetting Danfoss EcoTM to Default Settings

3.1 Display
Briefly press the button, and the display will appear. Danfoss EcoTM shows the set temperature, not the measured room temperature.
Symbols on the display:
- Installation Mode: Must always be activated during installation or removal. The thermostat can be irreparably damaged if not in the correct position during installation.
- Temperature Display: Temperature is shown in degrees Celsius. Danfoss EcoTM displays the set temperature, not the measured room temperature.
- Clock Program: [Clock icon]
- Antenna Symbol: Flashes when the app needs to connect to the thermostat. When connected, the red ring is illuminated (display is blank).
- Low Battery: [Battery icon] flashes on display. Red ring flashes if battery level is extremely low.
3.2 Red Illuminated Ring
The red ring is constantly lit when connected to the Danfoss EcoTM app. The ring flashes when the batteries are nearly empty.
3.3 Rotating the Display
Danfoss EcoTM can be mounted horizontally or vertically, depending on your radiator valve. You can set the display orientation to 'horizontal' or 'vertical' under "Advanced settings" in the Danfoss EcoTM app.
3.4 Manual Mode
Danfoss EcoTM can be used without the Danfoss EcoTM app in manual mode. Fewer functions are available in this mode. Use the manual knob to adjust the temperature. The display shows the desired temperature, not the room temperature. Comfort or energy-saving temperatures and times cannot be set in manual mode.
4. Temperature and Program Settings
4.1 Time
The device automatically syncs the correct time from your smartphone. You do not need to set the time manually. Danfoss EcoTM displays the time in 24-hour format.
Note: If you have removed the batteries from Danfoss EcoTM, you must connect to the Danfoss EcoTM app after reinserting the batteries to correct the time.
4.2 Default Temperatures
Danfoss EcoTM has the following default temperatures:
Icon | Name | Default Temperature |
---|---|---|
[Comfort icon] | Comfort | 21 C |
[Away icon] | Away | 17 C |
[Economy/Holiday icon] | Economy / Holiday | 15 C |
You can change the default temperatures in the Danfoss EcoTM app.
4.3 Setting Temperatures
Set your desired temperatures for energy-saving periods using the Danfoss EcoTM app. Scroll through the temperatures to set your preferred values. Danfoss EcoTM can be set to values from +5 C to +28 C. Danfoss recommends a maximum difference of 4 degrees between the Comfort and Away temperatures.
Note: Temperature changes entered on the home screen are temporary (until the next energy-saving period).
4.4 Creating a Custom Schedule
In the Danfoss EcoTM app, you can create a custom schedule. You can set up to 3 energy-saving periods per day (24 hours) with your desired durations. The weekly schedule displays Comfort periods in red. Use the "Copy" function to copy your created schedule to other days.
The Danfoss EcoTM app display shows both the 24-hour clock view, with Comfort times indicated in red, and an overview of your schedule with specified times. The minimum Comfort period is 30 minutes.
4.5 Absence (Holiday)
The "Holiday Program" maintains the energy-saving temperature for a user-defined period. Use a "Holiday Program" to save energy while you are away. The "Holiday Program" is set in the Danfoss EcoTM app.
The "Holiday Mode" can be set in advance or activated immediately ("Now"). Scheduled holidays work based on calendar and time settings. Plan your holiday in the Danfoss EcoTM app. The Danfoss EcoTM app display confirms the set holiday date.
4.6 Suppressing Absence
If you return earlier than expected, you will likely want to switch from the holiday program to your normal schedule. When holiday mode is active, the Danfoss EcoTM app shows options to end the holiday period or edit the dates and times.
4.7 Cancelling an Existing Absence Program
If a holiday is scheduled for the future, you can simply edit the details or cancel the program.
4.8 Pause
The "Pause Program" maintains the energy-saving temperature until another program is selected. If Danfoss EcoTM is manually set to the minimum level, a notification appears, and the central icon changes to 'Pause'. To exit pause mode, click the icon in the center of the Danfoss EcoTM app, returning to the scheduled or manual setpoint.
4.9 Open Window Function
Danfoss EcoTM has an "Open Window Function" that closes the valve if the room temperature drops drastically, limiting heat loss. Heating is switched off for a maximum of 30 minutes before Danfoss EcoTM returns to its original settings. After activation, the open window function is blocked for 45 minutes.
Note: The "Open Window Function" may not work correctly if Danfoss EcoTM is covered by curtains or furniture, preventing the thermostat from detecting the temperature drop.
