1.4 Installing the Correct Adapter

The Danfoss EcoTM package includes an adapter template to help you find the correct adapter for your valve. If you need additional assistance finding the right adapter, follow the QR code on the template and watch the instruction video.

1.5 Inserting Batteries

Remove the battery compartment cover as shown in the illustration and insert two AA batteries. Ensure the batteries are oriented correctly. Do not use rechargeable batteries. When replacing batteries, date and time settings are immediately lost. After replacing batteries, reconnect to a smartphone to activate a program. The red ring will flash intermittently. After reconnecting to the app, date and time settings will be restored. If you do not reconnect, the thermostat will remain in manual mode. The low battery level symbol is displayed approximately one month before the batteries are completely discharged. Before the batteries are completely discharged, Danfoss EcoTM will leave the valve in the frost protection position to protect the heating system from damage. Estimated battery life is up to 2 years.

1.6 Mounting the Danfoss EcoTM Thermostat

Screw the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat onto the mounted adapter until it clicks. After securely tightening the thermostat, adjust the display orientation to your preference. A large flashing 'M' symbol on the screen indicates that installation mode is active. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The temperature setting value will appear on the screen after mounting the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat.

1.7 Downloading the Danfoss EcoTM App

Download the Danfoss EcoTM App.

1.8 Connecting the Danfoss EcoTM Thermostat

Note: activate the Bluetooth function on your smartphone to connect to Danfoss EcoTM. Follow the instructions provided by the Danfoss EcoTM App to connect the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat. The Bluetooth range is 10 m (depending on building construction and surroundings).

1.9 Automatic Adjustments

After the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat has been installed, it will automatically begin to adapt to your heating system during the first week after installation. During this process, you may notice that the thermostat reacts with a delay or turns the heating on and off by itself. This is normal and a necessary part of the adjustment process.

  1. Valve Adjustment: During the first night of operation, the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat will turn off the radiator heat and then turn it back on to detect the exact valve opening point. This allows the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat to control heating with maximum efficiency. If necessary, the procedure is repeated once per night for a week.
  2. Adaptive Learning System: If you activate the adaptive learning system, during the first week of operation, the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat learns when it is necessary to start heating the room to achieve the correct temperature at the right time. Intelligent control will continuously adjust heating times relative to seasonal temperature changes. Using the economy program requires your heating system to have sufficient heat for a short period during heating. If you encounter problems, contact your installer.

1.10 Removing the Danfoss EcoTM Thermostat

  1. Press and hold until the large 'M' symbol flashes intermittently. This indicates that mounting mode is active.
  2. Remove the cover.
  3. Press firmly on the button and unscrew the thermostat from the adapter.

1.11 Resetting the Danfoss EcoTM Thermostat to Default Settings

  1. Remove the cover and take out one battery.
  2. Press and hold the button; keep it pressed while reinserting the battery. The screen will show nothing after approximately 3 seconds.

3. Display

3.1 Display Screen

Briefly press the button for the display screen to appear. Danfoss EcoTM displays the set temperature, not the measured room temperature. Temperature is displayed in degrees Celsius.

Symbols on the display:

3.2 Red Light Ring

The red ring [red-ring-icon] will remain lit as long as you are connected to the Danfoss EcoTM App. It will flash intermittently to indicate that the battery level is very low.

3.3 Display Orientation

Danfoss EcoTM can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical position, depending on the radiator valve. In the Danfoss EcoTM App, under Advanced Settings, you can set the display orientation to "horizontal" or "vertical" from the Danfoss EcoTM App.

3.4 Manual Mode

In manual mode, the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat can be used without the Danfoss EcoTM App. Functionality is reduced. Use the manual wheel [adjust-arrow] to adjust the temperature. The requested temperature appears on the display, not the room temperature. In manual mode, no comfort or eco temperatures and no times are set.

4. Programs and Temperatures

4.1 Time

The device will fetch the correct time from your smartphone. You do not need to set the time. Danfoss EcoTM displays the time in 24-hour mode. Note: If batteries have been removed from the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat, you will need to connect to the Danfoss EcoTM App to correct the time after reinserting the batteries.

4.2 Default Temperatures

The default temperatures for the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat are shown below:

Default temperatures can be changed via the Danfoss EcoTM App.

4.3 Setting Temperature

In the Danfoss EcoTM App, set the desired temperature for low-value periods. Scroll through the temperatures to set your preferred temperature. The Danfoss EcoTM thermostat temperature can be set between 5 °C and 28 °C. Danfoss recommends that the difference between the "Home" temperature and the "Away/Sleep" temperature does not exceed 4 degrees. Note: Temperature changes from the home screen are temporary (until the next low-value period).

4.4 Creating Your Own Program

Using the Danfoss EcoTM App, you can create your own program. You can choose any period within the 24-hour interval to set low temperatures and a maximum of 3 low-value periods per day.

The weekly program display shows periods for Home mode in red. Using the copy function, you can copy a created program to apply it to other days. The Danfoss EcoTM App display shows the 24-hour circle, with Home periods marked in red; a summary of your program also appears, along with the set times. The minimum period for Home mode is 30 minutes.

4.5 Holiday

The Holiday program maintains a low temperature for a period defined by you. Use the Holiday program to save energy when you are away from home. The Holiday program is set via the Danfoss EcoTM App. Holiday mode can be scheduled or set on-the-spot (now). Scheduled holidays use a calendar and time settings. Program Holiday mode from the Danfoss EcoTM App. The Danfoss EcoTM App display will confirm the holiday mode date.

4.6 Cancelling a Holiday Program

If you return earlier than expected, it is recommended to switch from Holiday program back to your normal program. In Holiday mode, the Danfoss EcoTM App will present options to end the holiday period or modify the date and time.

4.7 Cancelling an Existing Holiday Program

If Holiday mode is scheduled for the future, you can simply change the dates or cancel the program.

4.8 Pause

The Pause program maintains a low temperature until another program is selected. If the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat is manually brought to the minimum level, a notification banner appears, and the central icon displays the Pause mode. To exit Pause mode, click the central icon in the Danfoss EcoTM App and return to the programmed or manual setting.

4.9 Open Window Function

The Danfoss EcoTM thermostat is equipped with the Open Window function, which closes the valve if the room temperature drops drastically, thereby reducing heat loss. The heating is turned off for a maximum of 30 minutes before the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat returns to its initial settings. After the Open Window function has been activated, it is locked for 45 minutes. Caution! Please note that the Open Window function will be affected if the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat is covered by a curtain or furniture, preventing it from detecting the temperature drop.

Security provided by PIN code: Due to the PIN code allocated to the user, only authorized persons can make system changes. User's personal data, such as temperature or setting values, are stored only in the thermostat, therefore only your personal app can access them. In addition to security functions that ensure data protection throughout the transmission period from the smartphone to the Danfoss EcoTM thermostat, we ensure the highest level of protection through additional technical and administrative measures. Danfoss continuously verifies and develops them.
