Bumper Removal
- Remove the rear bumper from the vehicle, two fixings either side into each chassis member.
- Remove the bumper arms from the bumper, two fixings either side and fit Item C between bumper and the bumper arm, fully tighten at this stage.
Towbar Installation
- Loosely insert one of Item F with Item H into each forward mounting point, this will allow you to easily hang the Towbar side arm (Item B) whilst fitting the next mounting point along. Do not fit the rearmost two fixings at this stage.
- Using Item F with Item H refit the bumper to the remaining two mounting points either side.
- Fit Item A between Items B using Items G with Item J.
- Fully tighten all fixings ensuring the Towbar and bumper is square, rigid and secure.
- Using Item E fit your desired ball bracket and wiring plate (not supplied in this kit) to Item A and fully tighten.
- When Installing the Towbars wiring loom we advise that it is NOT attached across Item A and is fitted along the underside of the vehicle due to heat from the exhaust.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the Tow-Trust TTOY12 towbar assembly for the Toyota Hi-Lux. It shows the main crossmember (A) which connects to the vehicle's chassis via two handed side arms (B). The installation involves bumper spacer plates (C) and a coupling spacer (D). Fasteners include M16 bolts (E), M12 bolts (F) with flat washers (H), M14 bolts (G) with flat washers (J). The diagram visually depicts how the side arms (B) attach to the chassis, how the crossmember (A) is mounted between the side arms, and how the bumper might be re-attached with spacers (C). Various bolts (F, G, E) and washers (H, J) are shown in relation to their mounting points on the towbar components and vehicle chassis.
Notes
- Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 - 139 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
- Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
