Installation Instructions
- Using item D (M14 x 110 bolts, nuts & S/P washers) with item E (14 x 27 flat washers), bolt item A (Towbar Main Body) into position onto the rear beam.
- Using item C (M16 x 50 bolts, nuts & S/P washers) bolt your desired ball bracket (not supplied in this kit) to item A. When bolting the ball bracket to the lower setting, place item B (Coupling Spacer) directly behind the ball bracket. When bolting to the top setting, place item B behind the face plate, sandwiching the Towbar Main Body between the ball bracket and item B.
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts, ensuring the Towbar is rigid and secure. It is advisable to check the bolts connecting the rear beam to the vehicle, as these are all part of the Towbar assembly.
- Once the Towbar is fully fitted and secure, finish by fitting item F (M14 Plastic Bolt Caps) onto the four visible M14 nuts (item D).
Note: You may find fitting the Towbar easier if the rear beam was to be removed. In this case, fit item A first, then refit the beam to the vehicle.
Important Notes
- Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 bolts is 10.9 - 139 Nm. For other torque settings, please refer to notes overleaf.
- Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturer's trailer/caravan weight limits must be observed.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the assembly of the TT9 towbar for the Toyota Hilux. It shows the main towbar body (A) connecting to the vehicle's rear beam. Item B (Coupling Spacer) is shown in relation to the ball bracket attachment points. Various bolts (C, D), washers (E), and bolt caps (F) are indicated with their corresponding labels and positions on the towbar structure. The diagram also references a "TT9 125 ADAPTER PLATE" and notes that some parts are "NOT SUPPLIED IN THIS KIT PART No. ASP4". The assembly involves bolting the main towbar body (A) to the vehicle's chassis using specific bolts and washers, and then attaching the ball bracket using other bolts and the spacer (B) depending on the mounting height.
