Meaning of Symbols

A Warning! Please refer to the user manual before using the instrument. Failure to comply with the instructions or operating before reading this user manual may result in personal injury or damage to equipment and devices.

A Caution! Be careful of electric shock hazards and note the maximum input voltage.

1. Overview

The N1140Apro differential probe provides a safe instrument for all oscilloscopes. It can convert high input differential voltage (≤ 14 kVp-p) into low voltage (≤ 7 V) and display the waveform on the oscilloscope. It operates at frequencies up to 50 MHz, making it ideal for high-power testing, R&D, and maintenance.

The differential probe's output is designed for the oscilloscope's 1 MΩ input impedance with a relative attenuation. When using a 50 Ω impedance matcher, the attenuation is exactly doubled.

It is also recommended to purchase the PL-10 impedance converter produced by PINTECH to extend the application range of the differential probe. This allows for more accurate actual measured voltage values to be observed on the multimeter (oscilloscope accuracy is 3%, digital multimeter is about 3 times more accurate).

It can be widely used in the R&D, debugging, or maintenance of switching power supplies, inverters, electronic ballasts, variable frequency home appliances, and other electrical power devices.

Humidity ≤ 70% RH 20% to 75% RH 10% to 90% RH

Double insulation. Installation Category III. Pollution Degree 2. Related voltage or max grounding: 5000 V RMS. Can be powered by battery or 6 V adapter. Standard adapter included.

4. Operating Procedure

  1. Connect the BP-250 to the output of the N1140Apro and then to the oscilloscope.
  2. Adjust the vertical switch on the oscilloscope if necessary.
  3. Adjust the attenuation ratio and vertical switch on the oscilloscope to the same position.
  4. Estimate the voltage value to be measured before testing. Exceeding the voltage range may damage the probe.
  5. Before turning on the probe, it is best to set the probe gear to maximum. Connect the power adapter to the probe, toggle the power switch, the green light will turn on. When the test voltage exceeds the range, the light will turn red.
  6. Set the oscilloscope's attenuation ratio according to the probe's selected ratio.
  7. Connect the probe hook to the object under test to start measurement.
  8. After the test is completed, turn off the circuit under test first, then turn off the probe switch, disconnect the probe hook from the object under test, and unplug the BNC connector from the oscilloscope.

5. Precautions for Use

When measuring, try to wind the input lead. This can better eliminate lead inductance and external noise, improving high-frequency response and anti-interference capabilities. The winding method is shown in the figure below:

Try not to extend the input lead, as this will introduce more noise.
