- Before use, confirm the differential probe is not damaged. If damaged, stop using it.
- Please use the adapter that comes standard with this product.
I. Brief Introduction
The N1070B differential probe provides a safe way for all oscilloscopes to measure high input differential voltage (up to 7000V PEAK TO PEAK) converting it to a low voltage (<7V). It displays the waveform on the oscilloscope and operates at frequencies up to 100MHz, making it ideal for high-power testing, R&D, and repair applications.
The differential probe's output attenuation is designed for the oscilloscope's 1MΩ input impedance. When using a 50Ω matching terminator, the attenuation is doubled.
It is widely used in the R&D, debugging, and maintenance of switching power supplies, inverters, electronic ballasts, variable frequency home appliances, and other electrical power devices.

IV. Operating Procedure
- Connect the BP-250 and N1070B output to the oscilloscope.
- Adjust the oscilloscope's vertical scale if necessary.
- Set the oscilloscope's attenuation ratio and vertical scale to match the probe's settings.
- Before testing, estimate the voltage range of the measurement. If it exceeds the voltage range, use a more suitable probe to avoid damaging the probe.
- If unsure of the voltage magnitude, select the highest attenuation range first, and then adjust based on the voltage. Connect the power adapter to the probe and turn on the power switch; the green indicator light will illuminate. If the test voltage exceeds the range, the indicator light will turn red, and you should disconnect immediately.
- Set the oscilloscope's attenuation coefficient and vertical scale according to the probe's range.
- Connect the probe hook to the test object and begin measurement. Keep the probe body as far as possible from high-voltage pulse circuits to reduce interference to the probe.
- After testing, turn off the tested circuit first, then turn off the probe switch. Disconnect the probe hook from the test object and remove the BNC connector from the oscilloscope.
Note:
- Power must be turned on.
- The actual vertical deflection is equal to the attenuation multiplied by the vertical deflection selected on the oscilloscope, and is double for a 50Ω load.
- When connecting the differential probe's BNC output cable to an oscilloscope or other equipment, ensure the BNC connector is properly grounded.
V. Precautions for Use
When measuring, it is advisable to wind the input cables to better suppress lead inductance and external noise, thereby improving high-frequency response and interference immunity. The winding method is illustrated below [textual description of winding: cables are coiled neatly].
Avoid extending the input cables, as this may introduce more noise.
