Anko DIY Knitted Socks Craft Kit Instruction Manual
Kit Includes
- 2x balls of yarn
- 1x pair of knitting needles
- 1x instruction sheet
Tips
Slip Knot: Hold the yarn in your hand. Create a loop by crossing the yarn over itself. Put the yarn through the loop and pull to tighten, forming a knot that can be placed on the knitting needle.
Cast Off: When turning your work, ensure the working yarn is hanging downwards. The bottom of the work should be facing you. Create loops by not pulling the yarn too tight. Add a locking stitch at the beginning of the right side row to easily remember the right and wrong side of your work. If you pause your work mid-row, pick it up again with the working yarn on the right side.
Basic Knitting Stitch Diagram:
- Knit Stitch: Insert the right needle into the front of the loop on the left needle from left to right. Wrap the working yarn around the right needle. Pull the loop through the stitch on the left needle, creating a new loop on the right needle. Slip the old stitch off the left needle.
- Purl Stitch: Bring the working yarn to the front. Insert the right needle into the front of the loop on the left needle from right to left. Wrap the working yarn around the right needle. Pull the loop through the stitch on the left needle, creating a new loop on the right needle. Slip the old stitch off the left needle.
How To Knit A Sock
This section details the process of knitting a sock, starting with casting on stitches.
Long Tail Cast On
- Create a slip knot.
- Hold the slip knot on the left needle.
- Make a tail of yarn about 20-30 cm long.
- Hold the yarn with the tail in your left hand, creating a loop around your thumb and index finger.
- Insert the needle tip under the yarn on your thumb, then over the yarn on your index finger.
- Bring the needle tip back through the loop on your thumb.
- Catch the yarn on your index finger with the needle tip and pull it through the thumb loop.
- Drop the loop from your thumb and tighten the stitch on the needle by pulling the tail and the working yarn.
- Repeat steps 4-8 to cast on the required number of stitches.

Knitting In The Round
To knit in the round, ensure the working yarn is on the right side. To join the stitches into a circle, place the working yarn on the right needle. You can use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round. Knit the first stitch of the new round, ensuring the stitches are not twisted.
The process involves alternating knit and purl stitches (or following a specific pattern) to create a seamless tube, which forms the leg and foot of the sock. The visual representation of the finished knitted socks shows a pair of soft, textured socks.
