Knitting Guide
Jumper Body
Note: When changing colours in the middle of a row, twist the yarn to be used (on the wrong side) underneath and to the right of the colour just used. Use a separate ball of yarn for each section of colour.
- 1st row (RS): Using C2, cast on 3 stitches, then using C1, cast on 16 (19-23-25) stitches. Work across these stitches as follows: Using C1, knit 16 (19-23-25); Using C2, knit to end.
- 2nd row (WS): Using C2, cast on 3 stitches, then using C1, cast on 16 (19-23-25) stitches. Work across these stitches as follows: Using C1, knit 16 (19-23-25); Using C2, knit to last 16 (19-23-25) stitches; Using C1, knit 16 (19-23-25) = 61 (69-78-84) stitches in total.
- Keeping colour changes correct, continue in garter stitch until work measures 6.5 cm (7.5 cm / 8.5 cm / 9.5 cm) from cast on for the Body, working the last row on the WS.
- Divide For Neck Opening: Next row - Knit 26 (30-34-37) stitches, cast off next 9 (9-10-10) stitches for the neck opening, knit to end.
- Continue on these 26 (40-34-37) stitches for 10 cm (11 cm / 11 cm / 12 cm), working the last row on the WS. Break off yarn. Leave stitches on the needle.
- With WS facing, rejoin yarn to the remaining 26 (30-34-37) stitches and using the 5mm spare needle, continue for 10 cm (11 cm / 11 cm / 12 cm), working the last row on the WS.
- Joining row (RS): Knit 26 (30-34-37) stitches, turn, cast on 9 (9-10-10) stitches, turn, knit across 26 (30-34-37) stitches from the spare needle = 61 (69-78-84) stitches in total.
- Continue for 6.5 cm (7.5 cm / 8.5 cm / 9.5 cm) from the joining row, working the last row on the WS.
- Keeping colours correct, cast off 19 (22-26-28) stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows = 23 (25-26-28) stitches remaining.
First Sleeve
- Using 5mm needles and C2, cast on 15 (17-18-20) stitches.
- Knit 3 rows garter stitch (1st row is WS).
- Mark the next row with a marker to identify the right side of the work easily.
- 4th row (RS): Knit 1, increase in next stitch, knit to last 2 stitches, increase in next stitch, knit 1 = 17 (19-20-22) stitches.
- Continue in garter stitch, increasing one stitch (as before) at each end of every following 4th (6th-6th-8th) row until there are 23 (25-26-28) stitches.
- Continue without shaping until work measures 14 cm (17 cm / 21 cm / 26 cm) from the beginning, working the last row on the WS.
- Note: Record the number of rows worked from the last increase row to this point for the other sleeve.
Second Sleeve
- Using C2 only for the remainder, work the same amount of rows from this point to the last stitch increased on the other sleeve, working the last row on the WS.
- Next row: Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit to last 3 stitches, knit 2 together, knit 1.
- Continue decreasing one stitch (as before) at each end of every following 4th (6th-6th-8th) row until 15 (17-18-20) stitches remain.
- Work 3 rows. Cast off loosely.
Finishing
