IMPORTANT!!! Some water-resistant watches have leather straps. Do not wear these watches while swimming or engaging in any activity where the strap may be submerged in water.

Watch Care

  • Replace the gasket that protects the watch from water and dust every 2-3 years.
  • If moisture gets inside the watch, have it checked immediately by a CASIO dealer or distributor.
  • Do not expose the watch to extreme high or low temperatures.
  • While the watch is designed for normal use, avoid rough handling and dropping it.
  • Do not wear the strap too tightly. There should be space for a finger between your wrist and the strap.
  • To clean the watch and strap, use a dry, soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a mild, neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile solvents (e.g., benzine, thinners, aerosol cleaners, etc.).
  • When not using your watch, store it in a dry place.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to benzine, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesives, paint, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, cases, and the watch's finish.
  • Some models feature silk-screened designs on their straps. Be careful when cleaning these straps to avoid damaging the designs.

For watches with polymer straps...

  • You may notice a whitish powdery substance on the strap. This substance is harmless and can be easily removed by wiping with a soft cloth.
  • Exposure of the polymer strap to sweat or moisture, or storage in high humidity conditions, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking. To ensure a long service life for the polymer strap, wipe it clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth as often as possible.

For watches with fluorescent cases and straps...

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade.
  • Prolonged contact with moisture may cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade. If any moisture gets on the watch surface, remove it as soon as possible.
  • Prolonged contact with a wet surface may cause the fluorescent color to fade. Ensure the fluorescent surface is dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.
  • Friction of a surface with fluorescent paint against another surface may transfer the fluorescent paint to that surface.

Timekeeping Mode with Radio Control

This mode is used to receive the time signal and adjust the watch accordingly. The signal includes information about Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time.

Your watch can receive time signals from Rugby (England) and Mainflingen (Germany).

Setting Current Time

Your watch automatically adjusts to the time signal. If you are outside the signal reception area, you can set the time manually.

  • Select the city code for your local time (the city where you usually use the watch).
  • If you plan to use the watch outside of transmitter range, you will need to set the time manually. Refer to the "Manual Time and Date Setting" section for instructions.
  • Digital and analog time are synchronized. The analog time is automatically set whenever you adjust the digital time.

How to Set Your City for Use

DST Indicator: Indicates Daylight Saving Time is active.

Diagram Description: A visual showing the DST indicator and the city code display.

  1. In Timekeeping Mode, press and hold button "A" to enter the city code setting mode. The city code will flash on the screen.
  2. Use button "D" to scroll through city codes (west to east) and select your local time city.
  3. Press button "A" to exit the setting mode.

Your watch will usually display the correct time after you select your city code. If not, the time will be adjusted automatically at the next signal reception (midnight). You can also perform a forced signal reception or set the time manually.

If you select LON, PAR, or BER as your city code, automatic time signal reception will be enabled. The watch will receive the signal from the transmitter (at midnight) and automatically adjust the time. The DST indicator on the screen shows that Daylight Saving Time is active. If your region does not use DST, turn it off.

If AUTO, 77, 60, or OFF flashes on the screen instead of a city code, press and hold button "A" as described in step 1, then press "A" again to exit the setting mode. Then press "D" and repeat step 1.

How to View Digital Time and Last Signal Screen

In Timekeeping Mode, you can cycle through the digital time display screens using buttons "A" and "D" as shown in the figure.

Diagram Description: Shows different screens for digital time and the last signal received.

The Last Signal screen shows the date and time of the last received time signal. If the calibration signal was not received due to low battery (level 4) or battery replacement, "- - -" will be displayed instead of the date and time.

Radio Signal Reception

Last Signal Screen

The Last Signal screen flashes for one or two minutes before returning to the current time display.

Receiving Radio Signals

There are two methods for receiving signals: automatic and manual.

  • Automatic Reception: The watch automatically receives the time signal four times a day at 0:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 AM. If none of these operations are successful, reception will be attempted again at 5:00 AM.
  • Manual Reception: You can initiate signal reception by performing specific button operations (see "Manual Radio Signal Calibration").

Attention:

  • Before attempting to receive a signal, remove the watch and place it near a window, away from metal objects, with the 12 o'clock position facing the window. Ensure there are no metal objects nearby.

Diagram Description: Shows a watch placed near a window with the 12 o'clock position facing outwards.

Important! Normal signal reception may be difficult or impossible under the following conditions:

  • Near televisions, refrigerators, computers, or other household appliances.
  • Far from radio transmitters, inside reinforced concrete structures, or near mountains.
  • Underground, in tunnels, or inside reinforced concrete buildings.
  • Near high-voltage power lines, neon signs, or radio transmitters that cause interference.
  • Near railways, highways, or airports.
  • On a train or in a car.

Nighttime reception is generally better than daytime reception.

The signal reception process takes 2 to 7 minutes, sometimes up to 14 minutes. Please do not move the watch or press any buttons during this time.

Your watch can receive the time calibration signal transmitted from Rugby, England, and Mainflingen, Germany. The signal is received within a range of approximately 1,500 km from the transmitter.

At distances over 500 km from the transmitter, the signal may become weak, and reception may not occur under certain conditions.

Diagram Description: A map showing the approximate reception range from Rugby and Mainflingen.

  • Even within the reception range, the signal may not reach the watch due to interference from mountains or other geological obstacles between the watch and the signal source.

About Automatic Signal Reception

When automatic time signal reception is enabled, the watch automatically attempts to receive the signal at 0:00, 2:00, 3:00 AM, and 4:00 AM daily. If none of these operations are successful, the reception attempt will be repeated at 5:00 AM.

  • Automatic signal reception is activated whenever you select LON, PAR, or BER as your city code.
  • Signal reception occurs only in Timekeeping or World Time modes at the specified times. Reception will not occur during an alarm sound or when the watch is in a setting mode (flashing display).
  • Automatic calibration signal reception occurs early in the morning while you are likely sleeping. Before going to bed, remove the watch, place it on a flat surface in an area with good reception.
  • When automatic signal reception is enabled, it takes 2 to 7 minutes each day. You should not operate the watch buttons within 7 minutes before or after signal reception, as this may lead to incorrect time adjustments.
  • Note that signal reception depends on the time displayed on the watch's digital indicator. The reception operation will occur each time the digital display shows 0:00 AM, 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM, and 4:00 AM, regardless of whether the displayed time is accurate.
  • If the signal is successfully received two, three, or four times, the watch uses the data from the last successful reception for calibration. If only one signal is successfully received, the watch uses the data from that single reception.

Signal Reception Indicator

The signal reception indicator shows the quality of the reception. The appearance of the indicator varies by model. For optimal reception, place the watch in an area of strong signal strength.

Diagram Description: Shows icons representing weak and strong signal reception.

Even in an optimal reception area, it takes approximately 10 seconds for the indicator to show a strong signal.

Use the indicator to check signal strength and find the best position for the watch during reception.

Manual Radio Signal Calibration

  1. Place the watch on a flat surface with the 12 o'clock position facing the transmitter.
  2. In Timekeeping Mode (except for the Last Signal screen), press and hold button "D" for 2 seconds until you hear a beep.
  3. When you release button "D", the reception indicator will appear, signaling the start of signal reception.

The reception process takes 2 to 7 minutes, sometimes up to 14 minutes. Please do not move the watch or press any buttons during this time.

Battery

This watch is equipped with a solar cell and a rechargeable battery that is charged by electricity converted from solar energy.

Important!

  • Storing the watch in darkness for extended periods, wearing it on the inside of your wrist, or covering it with clothing can rapidly deplete the battery. Whenever possible, expose the watch to light.

Your watch has a solar cell that converts solar energy into electricity to charge the built-in rechargeable battery. This battery typically does not require replacement. However, after many years of use, the rechargeable battery may lose its ability to hold a full charge. If this happens, contact your CASIO dealer or distributor for a battery replacement.

Never attempt to replace the battery yourself. Using an incorrect battery can damage the watch.

Replacing the battery or if its charge level drops to level 4 will erase all data from memory.

Remember to switch the watch to Power Saving Mode and store it in a well-lit place when not using it for extended periods.

Battery Power Indicator

The battery power indicator on the digital display shows the current charge level of the rechargeable battery.

  • All watch functions operate when the Battery Status screen shows the HI (High) or MID (Medium) indicator.
LevelIndicatorFunction Status
1HIAll functions available
2MIDAll functions available
3CHARGE (flashing)No functions operate. Internal timekeeping continues.
4(No indicator)No functions operate, including timekeeping.

Diagram Description: Shows icons for battery levels HI, MID, and CHARGE, and a note to charge the battery.

Levels 1 and 2 are only displayed on the Battery Status screen.

  • The flashing "CHARGE" indicator at level 3 alerts you that the battery is low and you should expose the watch to light as soon as possible.
  • At level 3, the analog hands stop at the 12 o'clock position. All digital segments flash while the hands are moving.
  • At level 4, all functions stop operating. They will resume when the rechargeable battery is charged, but any data previously stored in memory will be lost. Therefore, after the battery is charged and the watch returns from level 4 to level 2, you will need to set the current time and date. Although the current time may appear on the screen after returning to level 3, you cannot adjust it until the watch returns to level 2.

If the watch is exposed to direct sunlight or other very strong light sources, the battery power indicator may show a higher level than the actual charge for a short time. The correct indicator should appear after a few minutes.

Frequent use of the backlight and alarm sounds places a heavy load on the battery, which may cause the "R" indicator to appear on the screen, indicating that backlight, alarm sounds, digital/analog time synchronization, and signal reception are temporarily unavailable. Operation usually resumes after the battery is recharged and the message disappears from the screen.

If the battery charge drops to level 3 while the "R" indicator is displayed, the Battery Status screen will show the "LO" indicator. Charge the battery as soon as possible.

Precautions for Battery Charging

Avoid overheating the watch while charging the battery. Avoid charging your rechargeable battery in the following locations:

  • On a car dashboard parked in direct sunlight.
  • Too close to an incandescent lamp.
  • Under direct sunlight or intense heat for extended periods.

Instructions for Radio Signal Reception

  • Strong electromagnetic fields can interfere with accurate time setting.
  • Even if you are within the transmitter's range, the signal may be blocked by mountains or other geological obstacles between the watch and the signal source.
  • Signal reception quality depends on weather, atmospheric conditions, and seasonal changes. The radio time signal travels through the ionosphere. Therefore, factors such as changes in the ionosphere's reflective properties, its movement to higher layers due to seasonal atmospheric changes, or time of day can alter the reception range, or reception may not be possible at all for a period.
  • Time setting based on a received signal is superior to any other setting method.
  • Automatic updates for date and day of the week upon receiving a calibration signal will occur from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2099. Starting January 1, 2100, date setting will no longer be performed.
  • Signals received by the watch for leap years differ from regular years.
  • Although the watch should receive time (hours, minutes, seconds) and date (year, month, day) signals, under certain conditions, only the time signal may be received.
  • When all five signals are successfully received, the watch uses the data from the last signal for adjustment. If only one signal is successfully received, the watch uses the data from that single signal.
  • The watch normally receives time and date signals, and this data is displayed on the Last Signal screen. If only the time signal is received, the current date will be displayed on the Last Signal screen.
