About This Manual

Depending on the watch model, the display may show dark characters on a light background (Module 3260) or light characters on a dark background (Module 3280). This manual uses examples with dark characters on a light background.

Buttons are labeled with letters (A, B, C, D, E) in illustrations and descriptions.

Illustrations are for example purposes and may differ slightly from your watch.

General Care and Precautions

  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Wear the watch carefully and avoid drops, though it is designed for active use.
  • Strap Tightness: Do not overtighten the strap; a finger should fit between your wrist and the strap.
  • Cleaning: Use a dry, soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a water solution of mild neutral detergent. Never use volatile substances like gasoline, solvents, or spray cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the watch in a dry place when not in use.
  • Chemicals: Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paints, etc., as chemical reactions can damage gaskets, cases, and polishing.
  • Silk-screened Straps: Clean carefully to avoid damaging printed designs.
  • Fluorescent Cases/Straps: Prolonged direct sunlight or moisture can cause fluorescent colors to fade. Wipe off moisture promptly. Contact with other wet surfaces can also cause discoloration.
  • Condensation: Slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass due to temperature changes; this is normal and not a defect.
  • Manufacturer Liability: CASIO Computer Co., Ltd. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of this watch.

Getting Started

  1. Check Battery Charge Level: The battery charge indicator (H, M, L) shows the charge status. A low charge may disable certain functions.
  2. Set City Code and Daylight Saving Time (DST): Configure the watch to your current location's time zone and DST settings. This affects world time and radio calibration.
  3. Set Current Time: Either receive a radio calibration signal or set the time manually.

Battery Charging

The watch is powered by a solar-sensitive panel and a rechargeable battery. Store or operate the watch where it can be exposed to light for charging. Charging is faster in brighter light. Avoid covering the solar panel with clothing.

Battery Charge Indicators:

  • H (High): All functions available.
  • M (Medium): All functions available.
  • L (Low): Built-in sensors and functions (radio reception, backlight, beeps) may not work.
  • CHG (Charging): All functions off. Only the CHG indicator is displayed, showing the battery is charging.

A flashing LOW indicator (L) means the battery is critically low and needs immediate charging.

If the battery level drops to 4 or 5, all functions reset to default. After recharging, re-set the time and date.

Recharge Time: Times vary based on light intensity (e.g., direct sunlight, daylight through window, fluorescent lighting). A table provides specific recharge times.

Power Saving Mode: The watch enters a sleep mode when left stationary for extended periods, dimming the display and turning off functions to conserve battery. It can be woken by movement or button presses.

Radio-Controlled Time Calibration

The watch receives radio signals to automatically calibrate the time. It supports signals from Japan (Fukushima, Fukuoka/Saga), China (Shangqiu), Europe (Mainflingen, Anthorn), and the USA (Fort Collins).

Reception Conditions: Optimal reception occurs at night, near a window, with the 12 o'clock side facing the signal source. Avoid interference from metal objects, buildings, or electronic devices.

Reception Range: Approximate ranges are provided for each signal source (e.g., 500 km for European signals, 1000 km for US signals, 1500 km for China signals).

Manual Reception: You can initiate a reception attempt manually by pressing and holding a specific button. The watch will display a reception strength indicator (L1, L2, L3) and then GET (success) or ERR (error).

Automatic Reception: The watch attempts reception up to 6 times per day (00:00-5:00) while in the Current Time or World Time mode. If successful, further attempts for the day are skipped.

Troubleshooting Reception: Issues can arise from movement during reception, poor signal conditions, or incorrect city code settings.

Modes and Functions

Current Time Mode

Displays current time, date, and day of the week. Allows setting of city code, DST, and time format (12/24-hour).

World Time Mode

Displays current time for 48 cities in 31 time zones worldwide. Allows setting DST for world time cities.

Stopwatch Mode

Measures elapsed time, split times, and records up to two finish results. Capacity: 999 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds.

Countdown Timer Mode

Allows setting a countdown timer (up to 24 hours). A beep sounds when the countdown reaches zero.

Alarm Mode

Supports up to 5 daily alarms (4 without snooze, 1 with snooze) and an hourly chime. Alarms sound for 10 seconds.

Digital Compass Mode

Measures magnetic north and displays direction with 16 indicators. Features include continuous measurement, bearing memory, and calibration (declination, bidirectional, north calibration). Essential for navigation and orientation.

Precautions: Magnetic interference from electronic devices, metal objects, or power lines can affect accuracy. Calibration is crucial for reliable readings.

Thermometer Mode

Measures ambient temperature. Requires calibration for accuracy. Temperature is affected by body heat, sunlight, and humidity. Allow 20-30 minutes for the watch to stabilize to ambient temperature after removing it from the wrist.

Unit Setting: Temperature can be displayed in Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

Moon Phase/Age Mode

Displays the current moon phase and age for the selected city code. The display can be adjusted for Northern or Southern Hemisphere viewing.

Troubleshooting

Timekeeping: Incorrect time may be due to incorrect city code or DST settings, or failure to receive radio calibration signals. Manual setting is available.

Compass Errors: Incorrect readings can result from improper calibration, magnetic interference, or movement during measurement. Recalibration or moving away from interference sources is recommended.

ERR Indicator: An "ERR" indicator may appear for sensor errors, low battery, or after calibration failures. Follow on-screen prompts or consult service.

Battery Issues: If the watch does not resume operation after charging, the battery may be critically low. Ensure sufficient charging time. Frequent backlight use drains the battery faster.

Radio Calibration Errors: "ERR" during reception can mean movement, poor conditions, or signal unavailability. Check signal status and try again later.
