CASIO GW-600 Module 2972/2973 User Manual

Important Information

Battery

If you notice signs of insufficient power (dim display or no backlight), replace the battery at your nearest CASIO dealer or distributor. The battery included in your watch is a factory-installed test battery, so its service life may be shorter than a standard battery.

Water Resistance

Watches are classified by water resistance levels (from I to V). Refer to the table below to determine the rules for using your watch.

Marking on Case Splashes, Rain, Washing Hands Swimming, Washing Machines Diving Scuba Diving
INoNoNoNo
II WATER RESISTANTYesNoNoNo
III 50M WATER RESISTANTYesYesNoNo
IV 100M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesNo
V 200M WATER RESISTANT 300M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesYes

Notes for corresponding sections:

  1. I. Watches are not water resistant. Avoid any moisture.
  2. III. If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. IV. If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. V. Watches can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).

Important Notes

Some water-resistant watches have leather straps. Do not wear these watches while swimming or engaging in any other activity where the strap may be submerged in water.

Care for Your Watch

  • The rubber gasket that protects the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years.
  • If water enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest CASIO dealer or distributor.
  • Do not expose the watch to extremely high or low temperatures.
  • While the watch is designed for normal use, avoid rough handling and do not drop it.
  • Do not fasten the strap too tightly. There should be space for a finger between your wrist and the strap.
  • To clean the watch and strap, use a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a mild, neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile solvents (e.g., gasoline, thinners, spray cleaners, etc.).
  • When not using your watch, store it in a dry place.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paint, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, the case, and the polish.
  • Some models have silk-screened designs on their straps. Be careful when cleaning such straps to avoid damaging the designs.

For Watches with Polymer Straps

A whitish powdery substance may appear on the strap. This substance is harmless to your skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a soft cloth.

Exposure of the polymer strap to sweat or moisture, or storing it in humid conditions, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking. To ensure a long service life for the polymer strap, wipe it clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth as often as possible.

For Watches with Fluorescent Cases and Straps

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade. Prolonged contact with moisture can also cause the fluorescent color to fade. If the watch surface comes into contact with moisture, wipe it off as soon as possible.

Prolonged contact with a wet surface may lead to the fluorescent color fading. Ensure there is no moisture on the fluorescent surface and avoid contact with other surfaces. Strong friction on a surface with fluorescent paint may transfer the paint to that surface.

Calibration Signal

The watch receives calibration signals and updates the time accordingly. Signal transmission centers are located in Germany (25 km from Frankfurt) and Rugby, England. The signal covers a radius of 1500 km. Signal may be weak at distances over 500 meters.

The transmitted signal is affected by natural conditions, atmospheric pressure, and temperature. Signal weakening can be caused by:

There are two types of calibration signal reception. With auto-calibration enabled, the watch automatically receives the signal five times each day and corrects the time.

  1. Position your watch horizontally.
  2. In Current Time Mode, press and hold button "D" for 2-3 seconds until a signal tone sounds and the "RC!" indicator appears, indicating the start of signal reception.
  3. Signal reception lasts from 2 to 6 minutes. Be careful not to move your watch during signal reception.
  4. After signal reception is complete, the watch display will show the data from the last reception.

To stop the signal reception process and return to Current Time Mode, press button "D".

If signal reception fails, the display will show "ERR" for 1-2 minutes, then return to Current Time Mode.

You can return to Current Time Mode by pressing button "D".

Auto-Calibration

With auto-calibration enabled, the watch automatically receives the signal five times (during the night and early morning). Auto-calibration only occurs when the watch is in Current Time Mode. Signal reception lasts from 2 to 6 minutes. Be careful not to move your watch during signal reception.

Signal Reception Indicator

This indicator shows the signal reception strength. When the watch is positioned for optimal reception, the indicator will be fully displayed. Try to position the watch for successful reception whenever possible. It takes about 10 seconds for the watch to establish the signal reception strength shown on the indicator. If the calibration indicator is not displayed, signal reception is not occurring. Perform manual calibration or check your watch settings.
